Villa a crucial game

Comments (14)

If we lose at Villa, our solid start to the season turns into an average one. Six games played and two defeats. If we lose at villa that's 3 defeats in 7 games and were suddenly hanging around mid-table.

With West Ham pushing on and Man City nicking wins, we need to keep pace, otherwise we are going to be left behind.

Throw in a midweek Euro match and the Villa match now becomes crucial to maintaining our solid start to the season.

COME ON YOU BLUES!!!

Personally I am glad the games will come thick and fast now, games are what our new signings need to get familar and bed in. I think the performances will improve beacuse of this. We have a team who are never going to be turned over and the potential to score goals. City, Villa and West Ham are not Everton, nor will they be above us come the final day next season.

If Tommy G is unfit put Neville to right back and put carsley and jagielka in the middle with arteta and pienaar wide, if McFadden plays against Metallist and does well I would keep him in the team on Sunday instead of Johnson, who has been disappointing this season.

Yeah good point, if your hardest working sriker isn’t scoring goals, drop him, he clearly has no other worth to the team as a whole. I mean, running defenders ragged for 90 minutes is pretty pointless eh.

Most teams around the world drop their strikers when they don’t score for 5 or 6 games, its the best way to boost their confidence and goves them every chance of getting a goal.

You should be a manager James.

Allan: Below is a pasting from Dutch Schaeffers comments on another posting

AJ hasn?t scored a goal at any level for over seven months. Sure he?s had an injury in that time but that?s a long time for a striker to go without a goal ? just ask James Beattie! To his credit AJ continues to run his hardest and work for the team, he gifted Yakubu a debut goal but he looks like he?s lost half a step and his lack of confidence in front of goal is becoming more worrying by the match.

Sorry i posted that last comment without adding mine at the end.
I agree with Dutch’s comments, AJ should be taken out of the firing line for a match, he is out of touch, I dont think he has a good touch and he does not seem to have the pace of last season.
I agree with you he runs his heart out but so would you in an Everton shirt as well, his overall game is disappointing and surely another striker deserves a go.
When Vaughan is fit and stays fit your talking here of a different class again and I would prefer him to anyone else alongside Yakubu.

I agree with the fact AJ needs to be benched for a game or two.
I agree Vaughany will be a great player if he stays injury free.
I like Anichebe but the lad is far from the finished product.
I would like to capitalise on McFadden’s confidence. The goals for Scotland must of given him plenty. If he reverts to club form again well I will agree with anyone who says he should be sold in January.
I would be prepared now for one last roll of the dice for Faddy.

FOOTBALL IS ABOUT OPINIONS!!!!
AJ HAS HIS FANS AND HIS DOUBTERS.
FOOTBALL IS ABOUT PLAYING WITH CONFIDENCE!!
AJ HAS LITTLE CONFIDENCE NOW, MAYBE A HAT TRICK AGAINST THE COMMIES ON THURSDAY WILL BRING IT BACK

I doesn’t help matter’s that Moyes has 2 right back’s playing centre midfield!! It don’t matter if you had a 80 million pound centre forward line they are not gonna get services off those two are they??

Everton usually leave most of their transfer deals till the last minute and inevitably miss out and on this occasion we missed out on a midfielder Manny Fernandes. Plan B didnt come off.

Who’s fault is this Moyes for dithering in the transfer market or BK and Bully not wanting to pay the wages until they have to.

How many chances have been set up for AJ to score? cos from where I sit I just see balls pinged over his head to chase,If I sent our dog on so many hopeless runs the rspca would do me, OK I accept he is not the greatest striker but just remind me how could we afford him if he was Owen is on a fortune for a couple of games a season so if we want that(OK we do) wheres the cash coming from Vaughan injuries permitting looks to be the answer in the future But Rooney was and look what greed did there(I blame agent& Kenwright more than a rather thick if talented player) Victor I?m not convinced about so lets leave AJ alone and see if he forms a partnership with Yak.

Villa Park is uaually a bogey ground for us. We have only won there once since 1987 but to be fair to Moyes he has broken most hoodoos and not least he actually mastered one of our finest away performances for years at...Villa Park in 2005. Its a tough game but is it any tougher than away to Tottenham?. I would take a point but I think playing away from home will actually suit us more this season with the pace we have up front. We get to bogged down and congested trying to break down stubborn opposition at Goodison. I think if we hit form we can beat Villa
