Box Office........ Don't make me laugh !!

Comments (32)

Just got off the phone to the box office. I am after 4 tickets for the Sheff Weds game now they are on general sale.

On Monday, I spent 2 hours trying to get through at work but to no avail. Thought I'd better send off an e-mail to order but have still not had a reply. Worried that they didn't get my e-mail I rang again yesterday and eventually got through. After explaining my situation that I needed to know wether I had tickets as I would have to swap shifts, the temp on the end of the line promised me the gentlemen dealing with e-mails would ring me back that afternoon. Guess what? NOTHING!!

So I rang back again today and after another hour waiting to get through a young kopite (He admitted it!!) said that due to demand they were not taking bookings on the phone and to send an e-mail. By now my blood was boiling as the club seem to making it impossible for supporters who live away to get tickets... regardless of the fact that all four of us are season-ticket holders and make the 300 mile round trip to every home game and most away games.

When will fat boy Wyness get off his arse and sort this out? Surely we should be able to book through e-ticketing or a dedicated phone line instead of being made to wait. And as for the lack of info on the Club website... This is making us look a nonsense. WYNESS, SORT IT OUT!!!

Has anyone else got any suggestions??? Just peeling myself off the ceiling!!!

I too have experienced terrible problems trying to buy tickets for Sheffield Wednesday.

Many phone calls, emails to the box office that never get responsed. The biggest joke of all is that the "Customer charter" on the website says how wonderful everything is and that we can buy tickets via fax, email and web

As a result I’m going to Liverpool tomorrow to buy some tickets in person.

If you provide an email address I would be happy to get tickets for you Graham.

I would guess that Wyness is not even aware of issues like this. Mail every department you can in EFC and let them know. This is a recurring issue.

I’m going to write a leter of complaint to Customer Service, Mr Wyness and BK.

If, and it’s a big if, I actually get a response I’ll post it on toffeeweb

I’ve sent numerous emails to Everton over several matters and not one has been responded to.

The only response I have had can via this site, when Mark Rowan from EFC comms read my comment on evertonTV - Fan Power!

The ticketing situation does seem to be rather ridiculous at the moment. I was waiting in queue position 1 for 30 minutes this morning before I got through to the box office line. That was at 8:10am - hardly the busiest time of day.
eTicketing, does generally seem okay, when they make tickets available via this medium. Certainly better than the Box Office phoneline!

I understand the frustration.

Last week I rang the box office on the morning the Metalist game went on general sale, only to be interrupted by technical difficulties. I rang no less than 5 times, all in the space of 4 hours only to get through at 4.45 to get tickets.

The Box Office is a joke, and is one of the first things that needs to be sorted out. Wyness’ inability to sort out the critical things is why I dislike the man - the sooner we get someone commercially competent in charge the better.

Most of the commercial back up were the fans are concerned is a Joke and Wyness is laughing all the way to the bank.I can hear him now, "Roll on Kirkby, the biggest pay day in my whole career"

there is a big disadvantage to living away from merseyside in relation to ticketing.

i would pass concerns on to graham sharp

What a joke ! Took Seamus’ advice and e-mailed marketing only to get a reply saying they couldn’t accept the e-mail as the mailbox is full. Too many complaints I guess !!

Whenever I have this kind of problem I just send an e mail of complaint to every ’contact’ opportunity on the official website. To be fair though I have not had many difficulties although tickets I ordered for tomorrow’s game haven’t arrived yet!!

I’ve given up on the phone though, I have not yet been able to contact any human being on the phone within anything like a reasonable timescale. I once left my wife holding the phone when I was 2nd in the queue while I washed the car. Still second in the queue when I was standing back admiring the sheen!

Ive actually had EFC call me back following a number of emails sent.

Firstly they appologised for the box office number disconnecting me at position 1 and said they have been fixing a problem.

With regards to gaining away tickets the answer they have given is;
All fans should apply by letter(!) at the begining of the season for any particular away game they would like to attend (one for each game) EFC then have a folder for each game and the applications are put in in date order, then when the match tickets are on general sale the club will contact each applicant to take payment for the tickets.
What an out-dated system, how on earth do the costs keep rising?
And this did not get me any Villa tickets (its been 4 days since I emailed and phoned), and doues not help cup game sales.
I am at a loss at the club I love!

Never had a problem,I usually e-mail the box office with my card details and get tickets by return of post.

what an absolute farce the ticket situation is. As have many others i’ve had a mare trying to get tickets aswell. How much longer will they continue to abuse the loyalty of the supporters? Having recently had a baby me and the wife are limited to games in and around the midlands, as you can imagine we haven’t been out much recently so a trip to villa would be awesome, i wish someone would sort this out!!

Dont worry about not being able to buy tickets, start to worry when you have paid for tickets over a week ago, only to be told they are yet to be printed, all this 1 day before the Match is!

This is not the first time i have had problems! they have sold my season ticket seat to some one else, try that for fun on the first day of the season! Not sent me my season ticket out and then would not let me buy a Villereal ticket because i did not have my client reference!

It is a joke you only have to look at the staff we use for the hot food stalls to see everything is done on a budget.

what happened to the store on the corner of the gwladys street? it always looked busy but was never open for night games, and is noww shut?

i give up.............

These comments don’t surprise me.

I live in Southampton and wanted to get tickets for a match at Goodison for myself, my son and my Dad who lives in North Wales. I also wanted to know if there were any travel deals including accommodation in Liverpool and tickets to the game. Quite a few clubs seem to do these kind of deals.

I telephoned the club but could not get through to anyone who was able to help. I therefore e-mailed the club. That was about three weeks ago and I have not even had an acknowledgment.

Does anyone know if there is anyone doing these kind of packages for Everton.

By the way, although I live down South, I am a fourth generation Evertonian!

Everton must be the only Club doing their best to stop their own fans attending their own games.

WE’VE ALL EXPERIENCED THIS AMATEURISH BOLLOX MANY TIMES FOR MANY YEARS AND NOTHING EVER CHANGES.

People’s Club? Please!!!

Things like this prove how little Wyness and BK really care about the fans. If they cared, they would do something about it... the Club can’t say it has no money any more. This is basic stuff, for God’s sake.

I also had problems when ordering my Shef Wed ticket as I was disconnected twice when I was in position 1. It took me ages and I ended up calling the stadium tour number so they transferred me through to the ticket office. As I am in Norway at the moment I expect the phone bill calling the club to be higher than the actual ticket cost.

I ordered tickets for Metalist Kharkiv game on Friday via eTicketing. The first attempt resulted in a timeout message, so I went through the process again, only to later receive confirmation that two sets of tickets have been ordered! Wanting a refund on the duplicate order, I have not been able to get through to the box office via the phone, and received no response to the email sent. Surely the whole point of eTicketing is to not have to go to the box office in person, but it now seems that’s going to be the only way to sort it. Oh and the icing on the cake, none of the tickets have arrived!

I am now really worried, I’ve got tickets for the Metalist game, when I ordered (via eTickets, no problem there) I was told they would be posted to me, but they haven’t turned up yet. I live in Reading so am going to spend most of the day travelling up. I’ve already had to ask work if I cna leave early, now I have to leave even earlier to go back home to see if they’ve been delivered.
God help me if they haven’t. Or should that be God help the box office from my wrath if the tickets haven’t been delivered.

I share your frustration. I spent two hours on the phone to the box office, an hour of which was spent as ’number one in the queue’only to get cut off. I rang the switchboard and asked to speak to the Chief Executive’s secretary. I was quickly put through to the club secretary’s pa and she was very helpful and eventually I got the problem sorted. I hope Everton take note that their existing arrangements are a disgrace and urge everyone who has problems to email the club with details - start with customer services. If you do get through by phone I’d recommend that you don’t take your frustration out on the poor sod at the other end who picks up the phone - the problem lies with the organisation not the individual. Come on Wyness get a grip and please remember not all scousers live in the city and that we season ticket holders make a significant annual investment to follow the Blues. Give us a break!

Gary unless you want to go to the derby or something it’s easy to get tickets - just get them via the online the official site and then book a hotel in town [or Kirby depending on how soon your planning on the making the trip ;-)]. I wouldn’t bother with a package thing it’d just be more expensive.

I have bought two tickets for the Metalist home game (in approx. 25hrs time) and have no idea if the club are sending me the tickets or if I’m supposed to collect them, and if so, where from. No option or information on this was given during the buying process and my e-mail (sent on Sunday evening) is unanswered. I can’t get through to the box office as the line shuts at 6pm.

A couple of years ago I was changing jobs and thought ’what the heck’ and sent off a CV to Everton Football Club, who better to work for? I was told there were no positions. Now I’ve got some decent academic qualifications so I’d hope any company that turned me down flat could at least produce the illusion of competence. Alas no, the impression I get of Everton Football Club’s administrative staff is of a bunch of work-shy incompetents, who fail to fulfill even the most basic requirements of the job.

Exact same problem, as a former season ticket holder (lost it when I moved away), I would expect good service, it took 4 fone calls, and over one hour of calls!

At the 0870 number rate that is over £6!

This massive list is an utter disgrace and is only the tip of the iceburg no doubt.

Michael, could Toffeeweb not find a way of sending a thread like this to Wyness or Kenwright requesting they look into how the Club’s ticketing operation is run and requesting a public apology at least? Just a thought. We know they have thousands of people to deal with, but you can hardly say it’s unexpected. Our average crowd has been more or less 35-37,000 for over 10 years now so they should have proper systems in place.

I live in the Sheffield area and have been a lifelong Evertonian, wanting to take my daughter to the Everton v Wednesday match as we live five minutes away.
We tried e-ticketing and have been looking at the site since Monday, when they went on general sale it is now Wednesday and still no ticket news.
I think this is ridiculous as it is virtually impossible to get tickets.
Any ideas or solutions please leave a comment!

How about rather than having some kind of sit-in complaint, an outside ’Can’t buy bloody tickets protest’? Or how about some of the fans who are around the ground tomorrow night making a little protest when Wyness does his little jig in front of the cameras for channel 5?

I am the last person to try to make the club look foolish on live tv but from reading views in the mailbag over the last year or so it is apparent that nobody from the clubs reads it’s top class unofficial website!

Perhaps we could post on the Aberdeen site? I recall Wyness used to work there...

Dan, Mike etc. - That happens me every time i order tickets online but dont panic, if you go to the ticket collection booth at the Park end of the Bullens road with the creditcard you used to book them they should have them there - if they dont they will print you out duplicates.
Shambles i know but you’ll get in!!

Credit were credit is due ! Michelle Mitchell rang me from the Marketing dept after I fired off a copy of this posting to them. Sorted out my tickets straight away and couldn’t have been more helpful. Promised me the problems in the box office were being addressed. We shall see !! Wyness, the jury is out !!!!
