Sounded like a good idea, for he was in charge of Porto (A smaller club) and happier there than at Chelsea. But Porto is top dog in Portugal, competing in CL/Uefa every year, and had world class players in Carvalho, Deco (Cannot recall others?), probably because they were in Europe every year. Everton does not come close. Not yet. But there are no obvious big vacancies are available and nor any high profile free manager. My guess is straight swap between Ramos and Mourinho, though would prefer to see Hiddink in BPL, which is slowly turning into competition between managers (SAF, Arsene, Rafa, Jol, O’Neill, Moyes, Hughes, Big Sam). And damn, should have bet Jose would be the first to go when the idea first came to my head...

So where will he go? I’d like to see him remain in UK.. he’s been good for the game here and anyone who runs up and down the line at analfield shushing the crowd gets my vote! can’t see him at bolton but across the road to the spurs maybe?

Like you John I think he has been great for the premiership, and I feel that Chelsea will struggle to replace him, its intersting that of all the fans from other clubs who rang in to Talk sport this am
the RS were the main ones glad to see him go,wonder why?

Good for the game my arse
He’s had the gross domestic product of a small European state to spend on the best players in the World and he still managed to stop them from playing football...
He’s a character all right... but a good manager?
Do me a favour it would have took a genius of monumental stature to not win the League at Chelski, with all that dosh to spend.
Wenger... now that is a proper manager not this overblown sardine fisherman.

David Moyes is a proper manager too, Kevin!

What price the possibility of his arrival should the Everton seat is vacant at the moment? Knowing his character and desire for a unique challenge, I say never say never. It’s not like he’d never managed a club without bags of money before.

He will go to Seville or Tottenham, or he can wait a few months for Real Madrid to sack their latest manager

He will be missed greatly by Football...
But we don’t neeed him as assitant, we have Alan Irvine :)

I can see him going to Spurs; he’s known to love London, his kids go to school here, great education etc and he has alot of ties in the capital now. Don’t be surprised if that happens at some point.
I wonder if the Chelsea fans are looking forward to having a relative unknown Israeli manager in Avram Grant!
PS Frank Rijkaard could be on his way out of Barca by January so you never know...

Whether he accepts the job or not I am sure Tottenham will offer him the manager’s job, it would be a major coup for Spurs. However he still has £18m quid due to him over 3 years, a compensation package would have to be ironed out before he gets another job. If he quickly gets a job then the package will be significantly smaller.
I would expect Jose to take a break till Christmas sort out his money with Chelski and then depart to pastures new.
I personally wouldnt take the Real Madrid job because you get sacked by them even if you win the league.
Barcelona looked good on TV last night so if that form keeps up the Rijkaard’s job will be safe, however the lure of having Mourinho as their manager may tempt Barca to unload Rijkaard.

It may transpire that Rijkaard stays till the end of the season then Mourinho takes over at Barca - like you say, they’re in good shape, though he did hint at leaving last year (Rijkaard that is)
Avram Grant is believed to be Chelsea’s new manager waiting in the wings and should be appointed in short order - director of football already and bessie mates with Roman Abramioutronsiufnerifhnnfiubfich or whatever his name is.

To those who are saying they’d love JM to come to Everton - if your the same people moaning about Evertons style of play then fucking hell Cheslea play some fucking ugly football and they’ve spent a hell of a lot of money. Thats probably why he left - he justs wants to win and doesn’t care what it looks like, but the pressure is on to play attractively. I think some of my fellow blues just don’t have a clue what they want.

Ha!Ha! Great to have a funny subject, eh> This one is as good as somebody saying I will manage England! Mind you, I could probably do a better job (er, well! This is the comedy page!). Where do these guys come up with this stuff. In this case it was probably over the third bottle of Tequilla!

Isn’t ’Big Phil’ Scolari in trouble for punching an opponent? Mourinho has always said he’d want the Portugal job one day. I don’t think he’ll manage another team in England and, if he did, it would have to be a London team, I’d expect.
He has seemed really down for ages. He did well to hang in for as long as he did with Abramovich’s interfering. It’ll be a sad loss as he’s an excellent coach and a real character in the game.

Wouldnt surprise me in the least that that the Icelandic Chairman at West Ham boots out Curbishley and gets in Mourinho . He has got the cash Mourinho will want and it will be seen as a challenge by Mourinho to upstage Chelsea as they go on a downward spiral.

You raise a good point though Glen, an assistant coach with good technical/tactical knowledge is exactly what Moyes needs!!!

Mourinho’s departure is symptomatic of the times we now play football in. CL quailification is the cash cow that MUST be attained by the so-called "Big Four". Even the slightest slip on that road will be enough for the manager to meet his end. Christ, we’re only half a dozen or so games into the season and panic buttons are being pushed. This is because the dodgy billionaires want something back for their money. Bugger playing decent footy, just get the results that guarantee another season in the Holy Grail League. Fuck me, how many teams have won the thing whilst actually being champions of their respective countries? The RS are a prime example. Raffia better watch his back. He didn’t look too well after their first outing this season and I bet his employers are putting the pressure on him already. Plus, he’s got Jose prowling around with his P45 hot in his hand!
Roll on Kharkiv!

Has anyone asked Tony Marsh?s opinion of replacing David Moyes with Mourinho!!! After all he?s the know it all.

*note to self, don’t post when hungover
Well, I’ll clarify just for your benefit Andrew ’Smart Arse’ Lea.
It would take a real ’special one’ to fuck up winning trophies given the wealth of resources Mourinho had at his disposal. I dare say even a shit manager such as Souness or Walt Smith might have made a fist of it.
Yet, for all the talent that Abramovich’s money bought, Mourinho couldn’t quite swing it in the entertainment stakes; as Chelsea had about as much flair as a Vladivostok cabbage processing factory.
Dour... unadventurous... ugly, are three words which come to mind when comparing their style of football to Arsenal’s or Manchester United’s.
Is that clear enough for you sweetheart?

I know - I have had a telling off by e-mail for a comment made about Mr. Marsh and for standing up for David Moyes. I thought the idea was that we supported our Club and Manager.

Joking aside............the suggestion is that Joey could be in line for a compensation agreement that will pay him something like £25 million.
Given the obvious strains associated with working for Roman A , will Joey not simply do what most of us would do under the circumstances ?- go off and live in a decent climate watching his children grow up and if the TV deal that the American owners of English clubs ever comes to fruition , who better to host their broadcasting than the self-styled great one ?
If he needs to work soon as an ego thing maybe Inter Milan would be a likely spot.
Anyway I will be much happier if Chelsea forget all about Mark Hughes.
Our man Moyes is out of contract at the end of next season (May 2009) and Mark as an Everton old boy could be a good choice to follow him !
Anybody agree ?

Is no-one concerned that Chelsea might try to replace the "special one" with our own "ginger one"
