Well what can we say about what we have just witnessed? My headline says it all really. A few points spring to mind too:
- Everton are nothing without Arteta
-
Hibbert should never start another game
-
Phil Neville, for all his commitment, passion etc, blatantly isn't good enough.
-
So now we have to hope that the likes of Arteta and Gravesen are available to have any chance of making the group stage. It's also another indicator that Moyes has taken the team as far as possible. I see Totenham won 6-0 at home. End of.

There's a game I cant wait for... a team with no confidence or skill, a striker who missed two penalties, another striker who caused two goals to be disallowed...... I flipping hate this game at times i really do...
Villa are gonna hammer us and we have screwed up europe yet again, what a joke!!

Shambles!!!!!...fucking shambles!!!....it can only happen to Everton who else! Who's to blame for this....Yes Moyes you. You fool you had three months to sort out a midfield and what happened tonight - you start with Neville/Carsley in midfield! back to square one you tosser!
Personally I don't believe were ready to play in Europe for a while, a few more top ten finishes and perhaps maybe we might see the quality additions which we've been waiting for the past two/three seasons in midfield.
Goodbye Europe!

The most ridicules game of football I have probably ever seen and I don't know were to start. It was like watching a bunch of kids. Bad team selection, bad formations, bad passing and bad decision making.
Simply crap.
ps: I wish Moyes would shut up, sit down, relax and perhaps his players will relax and play some football. He was giving me a headache and I was watching it on TV.

Look, i’m as angry as you guys, but Moyesy is not to blame, the finger points squarely at the shite referee. Sure we could have fielded a better side, but we would still have won if it hadn’t been for the ref.

Pathetic!
I am a Moyes fan usually but tonight, he was a joke!
The team that started was a joke, Injuries I know, but still!
Neville is the worst Centre Mid I have EVER seen, and im not messing, I swear he is. He cant pass, Cant shoot, Cant cross and gets lost! YET MOYES SHOWS BLIND LOYALTY TO HIM EVERY WEEK! ITS EMBARRASSING!!!
Hibbert is the worst right back in the prem by a mile, yet he starts every week too!
The centre Mid without Tommy or arteta or Cahill, needed Jagielka, NO, MOYES STARTS CAPTAIN COCK ED!!!
DROP NEVILLE, DROP HIBBERT, and if ya dont... THEN FUCK OFF!!!!
IM FUCKING ASHAMED OF THEM TONGHT!
and dont give me the "we just didnt have the look" bollocks! we had 2 pens and 2 more men than they did, and done fuck all about it!
we are as good as out and we’ll get passed of the park at there place in front of a hostile crowd!..... BUT YOU CAN BET YA LIFE THAT NEVILLE WILL BE CENTRE MID AND THE BAG OF SHITE HIBBERT WILL BE RIGHT BACK!
PATHEIC!

Moyes actually did ok, three up front, Osman just behind them and Carsley/Neville holding things together. On paper it looked great and the first half was pretty good.
In fact had Andy Johnson put those two penalties away Everton would have won 3-1 and everything would be rosy.
Unfortunately Johnson is piss poor and Moyes should be blamed for letting him take the penalties.
My biggest critism of Moyes is not the hoofball, or selecting Neville/Hibbert, my biggest problem with our manager is he paid £11 fucking million for that fat lazy limp shooting so-called striker Yakubu.

The finger points at the referee?
Don’t kid yourself Sam, It was not the ref with Neville on his back passing to anyone, it was not the ref wearing the Hibbert shirt whacking the ball to Duncan Ferguson all match - who clearly was not playing - the ref gave us 2 pens which we missed, granted he was pathetic in demanding a re-take but AJ should have scored every pen.
Hitting the target is the key, if the keeper saves it then it is his save, but to hit row z is unforgivable.

phil neville should be played at right back as that is his best position and he is better (?) than hibbert at distributing the ball. also where the hell is jagielka and why does he not start?

Sam Robinson - Sorry mate you cant defend the indefensible. That was an absolute shite performance, Someone should have intervened at the re-take and took the ball off johnson. If I and others , blokes in the crowd knew johnson would miss then management should know. And to do the same for the third one was criminal. never mind Johnson getting his goal to "open the floodgates" (ha ha) , the important thing was getting a lead for the TEAM. And a decision needed to be made. Cant make the 2nd leg, didnt make Villareal or bucharest due to family committments, looks like I wont be seeing the blues in Europe again. Thanks Moyes, your lack of tactics has fucked us over once again. See Sheff Wed havent won this year, dont worry lads , everton are in town next week, thats a win for yers. Nap. no use moyes getting us into cup comps, it only costs the lads money to see us crash out at the first hurdle.Shaking with anger here.

Ticket fiasco for a euro game and bad refereeing. This is all too familiar.
The box office has been in chaos for the past few days. Wyness promised a couple of years ago when it happened to another euro game that it wouldn’t happen again. As a season ticket holder best part of 30 years I have never sent in a complaint to goodison until this week - trying to get a sheff weds ticket was the final straw. Endless time on the phone only to get through and told no telephone bookings.
The back room to the organisation rests with Wyness. I voted no in the kirkby vote only because I did not think Wyness was the man to take us forward into this venture. As a potential £60m turnover euro regular type club it is run like it is a hobby.
As for the game tonight. The only positive thing I can say is that the players looks as gutted as the rest of us.

Agree with the comments bout neville and hibbert. hibbert once had potential, hes finished now. Neville may make a half decent right back, no way he can play centre mid again. Carsley was anonymous too, why isnt Jagielka playing, why has Moyes fucking bought him? If he isnt playing from the start Moyes mustnt rate him as highly as carsley and neville, and if thats the case why was he bought for a significant amount of money?!?!
Does anyone expect us to go through tonight. I doubt it. Our only hope is that Gravesen and Arteta are fit and on blob, and yakuba sorts those pea rollers back to the keeper out or were goosed.

Moyes out, Mourinho in. Harsh on Moyes maybe - but will we ever have a better chance? Tonight was utterly embarrassing, on and off the pitch.

I normally tell off my 13yrs old son for swearing but when he said tonight, "dad, that was shite" I didn’t have the heart. In fact they weren’t shite, they were fucking awful. Bunch of useless, clueless tossers with a manager who has been found out. CRAP!
SHITE, CRAP, CRUD, BOLLOX, ET AL...............
and how did we know we were gonna fuck up on the tickets?????/ deja vou!!!! USELESS SHITE FROM BK TO THE FUCKIN GOODISON CAT!
Geeze I feel better after that!

Take a fucking chill pill, it’s only half time in this two mlegged game! We’ve battered them in the first game, but the ref robbed us with dissallowed goal and perfect pen made to be retaken. Not least because our creative lynchpin Mikky (or Tommy) should be available for the return, you lot really should n’t be shitting it quite so much. This is 2007, don’t worry lads, this ain’t a little bit of history repeating!

This is the first time i have put a message on this board but after watching that shambles I have had to. Carsley and Neville in the centre of midfield can not string two passes together let alone create anything. Hibbert is the worst right bank in the country, and the Yak looks like £11 million well spent so far!!! Anichebe did 10 times more in 15 minutes than he did.
Get Neville at right back, drop Hibbert, Gravesen and Jagielka/Cahill in the middle. I would also drop Osman and play Mcfadden on the left.
I am so angry with Everton and Moyes at the moment!!!Sort it out boys

Yet again another joke for the red shite.
We need midfielders who can actually play!

Technically we lost tonight and before the euro draw I didn’t even know this team existed.
Never thought I’d say it but McFadden looked more accomplished and composed than Johnson. Confidence or no confidence had Beattie been playing he would have scored both penalties.
Johnson is not the finished article, is highly over-rated, is no where near Michael Owen’s class and should be dropped into the reserves for awhile until he learns how to score again!

I just watch the game in the falkland on my ship. i never been so piss’t off. Why do we do this to our self? Neville not good enough to wear/captain a blue shrit! The only good thing to come out of this game was lescott! fingers cross that we sort it out sooner than later!

Tony Finn agree with all you said I am sick to death of being made a joke of as soon as I saw the team I was worried but Moyes knows best So lets blame the ref or the admin cock up for the delay that upset the pre match ritual

The game wasn’t televised here in the States so I watched it on my computer. I got soo pissed off that I threw my laptop out the window. Now I have to go buy a new laptop and am sending the bill to AJ... Fucking horrible performance. I am embarassed to be a Toffee fan tonight. Thank God I don’t live by any Red shite supporters....

We are supporters who support our club with such loyalty and passion and yet when i come on here it reads like an obituary.
yes its 1-1, yes we have lost the away goal, but 1 goal lead over there and we can still get through, give them a chance to make up for what was a poor performance tonight.
Everyone likes to throw names around he should do this, he did nothing, he should be sold but can we afford to sell anyone, no because we need a squad. can we do it until January, no because the transfer window isn’t open again until then.
Give the manager a chance, how often did he play defensive and people complain about him, he tries something different which could so easily have worked if a couple more chances had gone our way or a dubious decision had not been made and everyone is still kicking off on here.
I for one am leaving my decision on whether we are capable of doing anything in europe until we go back to 4-4-2 (hopefully at their place) with some of our currently injured players back in the squad and team.
Not much point to this thread but getting tired of reading and felt like saying something.

Barry Nixon, I admire your optimism - but I’ve been an Evertonian for long enough to know that we have absolutely no chance whatsoever of getting through. Not pessimism, just plain fact. 0-3 I reckon.

Barry, thing is mate,we have just used rugby tactics against a team (who before tonight none of us had heard of)consisting of 9 men.The fear for the 2nd leg, is that they showed they could play a bit when the wanted.
Barry Nixon
Posted 20/09/2007 at 23:51:52
Its not optimism, its just fact.. that we might as well wait and see what the 2nd leg brings before really destroying a team that we all support.
