Beyond belief

For the third home game in a row we have been made to look like a bunch of Route One scufflers. There is however a good reason for this - we are a bunch of route one scufflers.

Everton's ability to give the ball away is simply stagering and there will be no meaningful progress whilst this continues. The Moyes boys can come out with all this bollocks about the best squad in 20 years but the truth is we are simply awful and embarrassing to watch.

Another Moyes cup campaign over before it has started. If by some freak we actually qualified for the CL then it would be pointless as a quality team would simply rip us to shreds. The Kharkiv goal was a kick in the teeth but you had to admire the quality ? it was on a different planet to what Moyes produces.

There is an answer to all this shite football but of course that suggestion would be ridiculous - "don't you realise how much progress we have made" - its a funny old game though when progress like tonight turns us yet again into a laughing stock.

The thing is John, your suggestion is not ridiculous, it’s actually become a no-brainer. I’m hoping that when I switch the radio on tomorrow morning before driving to work I will hear of another managerial departure closer to home

Actually I disagree. I don’t think a top quality side would rip us apart. The only time we look any good is playing a high pressure game, sneaking a goal and then sitting back. It is only when we need to open up an opposition we look so bereft of ideas.

I am dismayed by the amount of blues who can’t stomach a blow better than this. It is only HALF TIME. Slate the team if we fail to win, AFTER the tie is over...not at HALF TIME! I believe we’ve the resolve and knowhow to turn this tie into a comfortable win in the Ukraine. AJ and Yak will be out to make amends and with Grav or Artea in the side we’ll give them the ammo to put these Metalists to sleep with a barrage of juicy away goals. Well, maybe barrage is optmistic, but goalS anyway!
If nothing else works at least console yourselves that the opposition in this tie aren’t as good as Villareal were, but Everton 2007 are better than Everton 2005. Have SOME faith FFS!

Richard I agree but in BK we have a gutless chairman who didnt sack smith after losing 3-0 to tranmere - it will take months of more shite football before he ven recognises there is a problem - in the meantime we will remain chester in disguise. Moyes out

We just might go to the away leg and win, but that doesn’t excuse tonight’s performance. The Ref was shocking, but the performance of our team was pathetic. That was Moyes’ job and he failed miserably, making the away leg much more difficult than it had to be. They can sit back not having to score a goal now, while we will have to go all out to get one. That will open us up to the counter attack, something our defense has proved totally incapable of dealing with. I believe that Moyes should be sacked or step down. The quality of football is not anywhere near good enough. We have spent a hell of a lot on some very good players, but Moyes truely showed tonight that he has no idea how to use them.

Hi John

I fear things are worse than you suggest above.

I posted an article headed ’PROGRESS’ last week and I stick by my view that we now have our best squad in 20 years BUT BUT BUT .

BUT we still have David Moyes and without being unkind to a man who is undoubtedly a decent fellow , he will take us no further.

Read the piece headed Wessels that I posted a few minutes ago when that come up and I go into that question further.

Here’s a serious question....when did you last watch a game where we played ’joined up footy’ as against hoof it up the middle tripe ?

Having queued for 90 mins outside to collect my tickets, missing 30 mins of the game, with no staff member coming outside to apologise, having watched the appalling handling of the Kirkby affair, having seen one of the worst, most negative, incoherent display since the last one, I have no faith in the management of this club at any level - business, marketing, football, PR, finance, planning etc. I want Mr. Wyness to leave now. I then want the Board to have a sensible discussion about whether in fact in DAvid Moyes they have someone who can put a creative, top flight football team together, or merely a dour old-fashioned manager who can at best frighten his team into not daring to lose. I have waited for this game for 2 years and feel very depressed. I am sure that we cannot go on like this.

Even if we do have Arteta and Graveson back for the 2nd leg, we shouldn’t need them against a team so poorly ranked in European football. We’re supposed to have a decent ’squad’ this season and should be able to cope with a few injuries. 31yr old Graveson was only supposed to be brought in to be a squad player, not as the answer to all our prayers.

PS. 3 games gone and not impressed whatsoever with Yakubu. But he’s a blue, we paid £11m for him and we need to get behind him and hope he doesn’t become another expensive flop up front!

WE had no midfield tonight with 3 upfront needed changing did he. Dis he fuck. Is Hibbert his love child as he was shite if Jags is not better than him he is worth £4 not £4 million.

WE were wextremly poor tonighte both on thr field and off the field unless the first 20 mins were something special?

Here’s a question; who would win if Everton 2005 played Everton 2007? Answer; who the fuck knows! It’d be a total lottery! Wouldn’t be surprised if Marcus Bent bundled in a 64th minute freekick for 2005 though.

Personally I think Gravesen should be made captain and play every game. At least he’s got some cajones.

Philip regards tonights fiasco I could not agree with you more. The fans were treated like shite tonight. The club mirror Dave in that they could not make a decision and when they eventually did it was to late and one that had been obvious to those outside.
Tony Miller
13   Posted 20/09/2007 at 23:45:21

And Bo none of us hope that we don’t succeed in the next leg. But the bottom line there were thousands of Evertonians let down tonight and not just by the players. It may only be half time we may evetually win but it does not excuse the first half.

What a joke, did anyone else see this coming from a mile away when we never signed a midfielder? I am so angry, guted but not suprised. Moyes out now and that isn’t a knee jerk reaction, I think he has been inept for a long time I give up my season ticket because of the complete shit that man serves up. Phil neville should at right back and a expensive shit one at that he is never in a million years a center mid one good game there 5 years ago 4 the mancs what a joke. jags on the bench whats goin on 4 mllion for a player he dithers over for months and he never uses him rrrrrrr i want punch that ginger everywhere the yak and johnson r good as was beats just the tactics of moyes is disgracefull I AM SO STRESSD there plenty more to come thoe enjoy no more money till he has gone for all you moyes lovers out there get a brain

Moyes after the match saying you had to give AJ credit for "wanting to put it right". This is Everton staying in Europe or not, not whether AJ feels better about himself. Wessels would have stood a better chance of scoring the penalties. Un fucking believable.

It was a poor performance but to call for moyes head on a plate is a little drastic, he has built the foundations of a good side but it is by no means the finished article, Yakubu did not look good tonight, worrying!! AJ needs a goal and an emphatic pen was cruelly robbed off him, we are crying out for quality in centre mid, cars is a battler but thats it, nev is a right back always was always will be, which will push hibbert out, baines showed how u play in that position. Yobo and Lescott look solid and wessels looked promising, we could and should have burried them 3-0 but thats football, a tricky time in Ukraine but we have the quality with arteta back. grav and jags should be in centre mid and pienar on the left should see them off, fingers crossed

19   Posted 21/09/2007 at 00:00:50

We were crying out for quality in center midfield, right midfield, left midfield , right back and up front. We were also crying out for the manager to do something to address our problems tonight. None of the previos happened and we drew 1 -1 to 9 men. Should have could have is a song and an easy excuse for ineptitude.

Tactics, Tactics, Tactics. During the game Mr. Moyes lost the plot. They attacked with 2 players. We defended with a back 5. Nev drops into the defence to lump it up front. Hibbo plays 90 mins on ice skates. Why not put on Lucas for Hibbo? With the squad we have, would Mourinho get a victory? i think so! I route for the teams, sweat my arse off for 90 mins, on the edge of my seat.. for that! Moyes needed to make it happen and get an result.
He failed today. I have 2 legs, I use the when I need to. i hope Moyes puts the second leg to use.

JUST GOT BACK FROM THE GAME WHAT A FUCKING JOKE, WHY DIDNT MOYES CHANGE THE TACTICS AFTER 15 MINUTES WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS THEY WERE NOT WORKING ?

HOW DID HE COME TO THE DECISION TO DROP JAGS AND PLAY HIBBERT ?

DREADING VILLA ON SUNDAY PLAY LIKE THAT AGAGIN AND VILLA PLAY AS THEY DID AGAINST CHELSEA ITS GOING TO BE EMBARRASSING.

On that performance, and on the performance since the start of the season, only the following players that played against Kharkiv are good enough to play for the club: Yobo, Lescott, Baines and Anichebe. Maybe McFadden and Osman. Hibbert, Neville, AJ and Yak were absoloute shite. I normally try not to come on here and attack players, but I'm disgusted.

Arteta and Gravesen cannot come back soon enough. Some say Cahill too but he won't provide the intelligence and guile the other two do. Disgraceful performance tonight, and yet so predictable.

I see the club are hinting that Royal Mail have something to do with the ticket fiasco. I will make one final point on this today I recieved tickets for the middlesborough game that I ordered two days after the cup tickets. Unfortunatly when i opened the envelope there was only my sons ticket not mine although the reciept etc showed I had purchased and paid for two.

So then Wyness are staff from Royal Mail working in the box office or has someone steamed open the envelope taken out one ticket and re-sealed it.

I think not AMATURES.

Rubbish. Absolute rubbish. That game bored the tits off me for 70 minutes. And the last 20 were only good for the pure farsical comic value of it all.
As someone said earlier, we were embarrassing to watch - actually painful. How many times did we have to watch Tony hibbert chip the ball to NOBODY, or Neville pass the ball to the opposition. Even Lescott and Baines are starting this "chip the ball up to the forwards" bullshit.

It’s shit football and its shit to watch. Fucking rubbish.
