Awful night for club and fans

Comments (13)

You jusy knew things were going to go wrong from when the kick off delay was announced. Waiting for the conclusion of the Man Utd game before sending out the tickets was pure incompetence on the aprt of the club. Hopefully Uefa will impose a fine and lessons are learned.

The team played badly ... but so did the supporters. Instead of getting behind the team the fans decided to moan. The abuse that poured off the terraces when passes went astray and attacks broke down was nothing short of a disgrace. When the team needed our support they were let down.

The team may not be good enough at that level but a certain section of the support aren't either.

Just got to work (7.30am) thinking why did I bother, I wish the team had displayed the efforts I and countess thousands had made just to get there. Jesus - wish they had shown as much commitment as the rest of the 38,000' ish crowd that made the effort to get there and support them.

Got home at 2.00am after a further 200 miles down the cones infested motorways of England. By the way my three lads got up early for school this morning ? no issues just complaints about the lack lustre display of these lads on salaries only the rest of us mere mortals can ever dream off!

Now we are up against it in the return leg! Also who the hell is going to pay £500 to go and support them on that display?

Ian maybe if the football was good enough then people would’nt moan, it was near on a sell out for a first round uefa cup game, id say the fans done pretty well, in fact if you compare to lets say chelsea then the support was excellent, the football we played was nothing short of diabolical, hoof ball all game, if im gonna blame anyone its our captain, he should of had us organised, he should be taking a hold of the game, he should be driving us forward in games when were struggling, he should be able to pass the ball, he should stop hoofing the f*****g ball,he should stop giving freekicks away, moyes tells the players what to do before the game its nevilles duty to make sure it happens on the pitch, its clear that we need someone in their who can dominate games because im sorry but neville is not it.

I agree that we fans were a little quiet last night but it was probably a reflection of how shite the players on the pitch were performing.

Ian,
I watched that pub game last night and have also slept on it- but how can you expect some fans not to vent their anger after some of the unequivacal displays of poor decision making, atrocious passing, and generally lacklustre disply from a team which plays in the upper echelons of the best league in the world against Ukraine minnows.
Those who attend regularly paid hard earned salary’s last year to support the team and help drive us into European competition for this season. When you see your team play the way we did last night it is like a slap in the face to fans, it is quite simply a disgrace the approach of some of the players last night-3 of whom I won’t mention are not fit to wear the shirt. Simple as. I am not ashamed to admit I lambasted some of the players, when I see effort and commitment I will support the side, when I and many other thousands last night dont see this we WILL show our disgust. Or we can just sit around with our rose tinted spectacles politely clapping every hoof and mis-controlled pass. What a Fucking joke.

Just been thinking about last night, and what a strange strange night it
was...

2 missed penaltys
A disallowed goal
2 red cards
A 30 minute delay
That fat physio
Their number ’69’ coming on and then getting subbed
Mcfadden throwing one of their players off the pitch
That Magpie on the pitch
The Stadium Announcer calling Leon ’Joleon Osman’

Very strange night indeed...

What I would give for the 2nd leg to be an uneventful 1-0 win for us
(However this is prob far too strange to happen!)

As for the fans, we were under the expectation that Metallist were a push-over and boy didn’t Everton make it hard for themselves. The fans pay the money and if the football isn’t good enough they have every right to moan. The ticket delay can’t have helped either.

you got to laugh, that fat physio was comedy genius, still showed a turn of pace that put Yakubu in the shade though!!!

The magpie was the only thing Hibbert found accuratley all night, lost count the amount of times he lost the ball FFS just look accross the park at baines to see how a quality, assured, composed footballer goes about his trade and as for the original post I think as much as we need to support the team, when you see a player who is paid 40 K a week to play a pass in the first 5 mins which is trully school boy standard sorry sunday league standard!!! it is enough to want to tear your own head off and throw it at that pile of turd!

Goodison Park was very disappointing last night. We all know about the performance, but the fans were QUIET all night. It was as if they were watching an opera at times. But this wasn’t just last night, Goodison Park has been shockingly quiet all season. Reading’s, West Ham’s, Newcastle’s, and Portsmouth’s fans have all been putting the people at Goodison to shame. Through the first half all I could hear was Moyes shouting instructions. There is no way that you should be able to hear the manager clearly over the sound of the crowd. People were commenting on this in the first half before we scored and after we scored. That goal should have got the place rocking, but after one go through of Everton Everton Everton, the crowd went back to sitting silently.

John Barnes spitting into the microphone was the highlight of my night. It sounded like some sort of weird creature had taken over my tele.

The discraceful debacle over the issuing of tickets last night, and the consequent frustration of us fans queuing up, was thankfully brought to an end by a sensible decision which was taken far too late.It was obvious by 7.30pm that the thousands outside would not get to the Box Office in time for kick off at 8.00pm - why on earth did it take another hour and a quarter for someone to decide to allow us all through the turnstiles on production of evidence of our ticket purchases. When that was finally done everyone went into the ground in a disciplined orderly fashion. The C.E.O. has a lot of explaining to do, I’m not very bright, but I saw that as the solution as early as 7.30pm. I’m happy to take over as C.E.O.

No Steve Wolfe,
I was not there. I was at work, having to watch it on my PC. But if I had been able to get there, you bet your ass I wouldn’t have sat quietly. What the hell does my not being there have to do with it. You’re not on the pitch but that doesn’t stop you from being able to have an opinion on that does it. The atmosphere at Goodison Park has been unacceptable this season, that’s the truth, whether I am in the stands or watching it on the TV.

Ian Edwards (I think) has a good point. Slagging off your team is not conducive to them improving their effort. I saw a snatch of Portugal getting anihilated by the All Blacks in the oval ball world cup the other day. Did their fans get downhearted? The hell they did. They cheered their every effort - why can't Blues supporters do the same? Faults and all - and they certainly exist in abundance - if we don't get behind them who will?
