2 week countdown
Comments (12)
Like most of the other posts today, I am saddened and fuming at last nights display but I don't want to spend the next two weeks in this stupour.
What do other posters realistically think about our chances in the Ukraine? So 2 years ago a confidence weakened Everton stood little chance of scoring 4 clear goals against a reasonably strong Bucharest side and the tie was effectively over at 5-1.
Last nights display aside, surely we have enough quality to get a result, also taking into account they will have two of their first team suspended. We have no other option but to attack and just need the one away goal. Clearly Metalist are no mugs but is this just a case of hangover blues in thinking that we're dead and buried? We're supposed to be a top 6 Prem side.
Any positive opinions?

I dunno what's worse: two weeks of wailing and teeth-gnashing? Or two weeks of positive opinions about how we really are going to beat them next time... Can't we all just take a break? I've got work to do....

I agree with previous post about playing andy VDM. Where is he? He is an undoubted talent with skill to burn and would help this team if he was given a run in the team. why not try him? the problem with some hard headed managers is that they more than often let their grudges get the better of them. Moyes obviously has a problem with him - that is why he is not playing (or even on the bench). Give him a go! It's a pity to have such talent rotting away when others get minutes who are less than he as a player.

Does anybody know if the same ref will be "in charge" of the return game.

Dont fall for blame the Ref. He gave us TWO penalties reduced them to NINE men, played an extra SIX minutes, what else do we wantagainst what is realy a second rate euro club. We desperatly need a manager with a bit of football nouse, No doubt about it Moyes HAS taken us as far as he possibly can, and there is still a long long way to go. Lets be honest and face the Truth

It’s not over till the fat lady sings.
Trouble is there are too many fat ladies at Goodison.
We will not do anything progressive while the Kenwright,Wyness and Moyes sheep continue to listen to shit and watch shit while making excuses that we are making progress and we should count ourselves lucky to be in the top ten.
Is this the stuff Blue scousers are made of.
Everton have a habit of knocking the stuffing out of supporters but I believe this season will be a watershed and there’ll be no turning back.So I urge all supporters to stand up for what you believe in and write in your thousands to Kenwright expressing your dissatisfaction.Lets not knock the players confidence any more. They dont go out and deliberately play shite. It appears to me that there is a set system(Plan A)and using Wyness speak there is no plan B.
We are tactically and technically inept because the only flair player we have (Besides the limited Arteta)-VDM- has blotted his copybook and Moyes unlike Clough or Shankly doesnt know how to handle problem talent. He just wants a team of robots to play his system.

we’ll get through. we play better when nobody expects anything of us. last night was fucking abysmal, but we WILL go through!

If Moyes goes back to his basics of one up front there is a reasonable chance we can win lets face it we gave them more space then I thought was possible and they didn’t look that good

’Reckon we are out already’ says Tony Marsh! What a pussy, defeatist, spineless comment that is. Well Tony, you may have thrown the towel in but I’m thinking the players and Moyes will show the fight and resolve required. I agree there is far too much hoofball generally, but a ’Spurs away’ type showing will see us batter them with ease. Bring it on.

Guys, I don’t know why anyone listens to Tony Marsh’s "predictions" - for instance, we’d have been lucky to get 20,000 turning up on Thursday....
He’s probably on a commission from the guys at TW to wind everyone up and increase hits on the site ;-)

It’s only half time and the scores are level but we need a much improved Everton in the next leg. If Arteta and Graveson play I think we have a chance. What worries me is that Metalists’ manager, before the game, described them as a team that likes to play quick counter-attacking football. So from their point of view the first leg score is ideal!

The dilema for Moyes,is that he has got no choice, but to go all out over there. And the problem is that they picked us off quite well on the break.

It´ll be a 1-1 draw after we have a good goal disallowed in the last minute, and will go to penalties...
