Hundreds and Thousands

Comments (6)

After waiting for over an hour last night. 20 minutes into the kick off, I was in the same place with thousands behind me. By this time I'd had enough.

Went down the Carisbrook, watched the rest of the first half, then drove home, I was fuming. This morning, the EFC website statement said their were hundreds outside at kick-off time. From what i saw it was not hundreds but thousands.

I've just spoken to someone at Everton box office and they said they sent 5000 tickets out and all never reached their destination, plus the fans who phoned up on the day and agreed to pick their ticket up on the night. So who is telling porkies? Is it porkie himself.

for all 5000 to not have got there would mean a ’problem’ very early on in the chain from Efc to supporter’s letterbox.

Possibleexplanations:

Either some incompetent fool at the Club did not get them to the local sorting office and into the system in time.

Or somebody at the Sorting Office deliberately ’delayed’ them somehow - some Kopite out for a laugh at our expense maybe or an incompetent at the Sorting office.

Or there was a problem in the Ticket Office, they were too scared to say so and just let the situation play out, claiming ignorance of it all.

Personally, having not received the Programme yesterday or today by post, and it usually arrives on matchday without fail, I’m inclined to think there was a problem with the mail coming out of Liverpool this week.

HOWEVER, if the Club leave it so late to send tickets out and rely on the Royal Mail which we all know is going down the tubes, they leave themselves wide open to this sort of thing. So, even if it is the Mail’s fault, the Club have to take responsibility too.... not that they will - it’s the Everton Way as some deluded ostrich recently told us.

What i dont like, is what they put out in the media, is not true. just like the stadium issue. Thursday night was a disgrace, the way they handled the situation, Just like the stadium move, their was no plan B. Everton have ticket offices all around the ground yet still opted to open just one, Bullens road. And take it from me, their were more than hundreds as quoted on the EFC website, their were thousands. Surely if you have got a ref number, you should be able to go to the gate to which your ticket allows you to enter, quote that ref number, gate person checks it through and give you your seat stub.

When I phoned the box office on Wednesday after not receiving my tickets in the post, they said they were aware of the problem and that due to an error (the error was that 7000 tickets had not been sent out by Everton!), I’d either have to hope they arrived on the Thursday or I could get a duplicate from the Bullens Road office from 4pm on the day. Strange that the girl on the phone knew of the impending misery but those in charge of running our club into the ground claim to not have known until the queues started to form. Hmmmm

Colin my sympathies to you and all of the other fans that found themselves in your position.
The club are run by the cast of Fraggle Rock mate and I cant see it getting any better until Blue Bill decides to sell.

Their should be a full investigation by the football league not Everton. Could have been a very dangerous situation that night.Instead, looks like EFC are brushing it under the carpet.
