Possible site for new ground?

Comments (5)

I have been looking all over Liverpool for possible locations for a new ground. I have looked at the suggestions of others, and the named suggestions by Everton FC. I am not sure if I have missed this suggestion before, or maybe the site has been overlooked, but I must have passed by this site hundreds of times going to matches at Goodison over my 35 years as a fan.... WALTON HALL PARK!!

The place is plenty big enough, with good road access, and still within the area which we are playing now. Have I missed it being mentioned before? Or has it been overlooked. It IS big enough, so what would be the problem?

Good point mate,

but i think you will find that there is only one site that will be used, Kirkby, as that is where Tesco want the development... end of i’m afraid !!

I agree I have always thought Walton Hall park was the best site.
The catchment area around it is huge.Walton, Croxteth Norris Green, Bootle,Aintree, Fazakerly, even Kirkby. Its twice the size of Stanley park. The main field used to house 30 football pitches when I played Sunday football in the 70s. Now it is always empty with everybody crammed into the corner where the sport centre /astroturf pitches are.The ground could fit into that corner without losing any green space. It is only 2.5 miles from Kirkby. There are no Tesco shops anywhere nearby. It is bordered by two arterial roads Queens Drive and Walton Hall Ave/East Lancs Rd.
If it was moved to the centre of the Park there would be no impact on any housing and it could be the centre point of a great local sporting amenity.
The council could have new public sports facilities attached to the ground and a redeveloped park.Has the council suggested this to Tesco.Maybe somebody could ask Sir Terry.

Walton Hall Park would indeed be an ideal site but we do not have the cash.
What is needed is a squillionaire willing to invest in what according to this mailbag is a shitbag of a club with a crap manager, dysfunctional board, players that are rubbish and fans ripping into each other at the least excuse.
Or, we could get that well known Blues supporter, Warren Bradley and his mates on the city council to freely donate the land, all roadworks, carparks and other infrastructure. We might also persuade a giant multi-national company to cover part of the costs.
We might also look for a certain 16 page document that seems to have gone quietly missing.

Logically it is THE location for us, keeps us in Walton and still keeps us close enough to ’that lot’, but hasn’t everyone’s favourite uncle - Uncle Warren ruled that out and has instead been mooting some far more unrealistic options? And the funding??

Why should the City Council give space to Everton F.C. They’ve already offered the Kings Dock and the club couldn’t get financial help i.e. funding for £30 million. This was only 3 years ago remember, with them eventually making a balls up on a massive scale and there being no foresight whatsoever on the board it’s no wonder there’s no confidence in the club.
