Current Club Motif

Comments (14)

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the current club logo is a bit crap? (symptomatic of the people running the club I guess) Alt_Text

I would like the current club logo and font changed to something that looks a bit more distinguished and classy. Doesn't need to be over fussy, just something in royal blue and white colours only, with the sacred tower and a respectable type-face. I noticed that Boro have changed their emblem recently to something that looks more the part. Ours with that stupid band of yellow in it is akin to something you would find on a biscuit tin.

I beleive the cuurent logo is a fairly recent update that was done a few years ago (2000), instigated I believe by Bill Kenwright. Personally, I quite like it. Blue and white crest... tower... motto... "Everton" in what (to my eye) is quite a classy font. And the tinge of yellow? I like to think of that as a hint of amber. It really is quite a stretch that you use the club crest (of all things!) to have a go at those you don't like running the club!

Instigated by Bill Kenwright, says it all really! You only have to look at the design of the new stadium with the people’s club plastered all over it to realise that someone’s input into marketing/creative matters is a pretty shit one at that

Wasn’t particularly using this to have a go to be honest. The poor handling of ticketing, poor operation of shirt sales via JJB, clumsy running of website (riquelme), general amateurish approach to commercial activities in general including transfers and ongoing endorsement of a manager and playing style which belong in the dark ages kind of speaks for itself!

in 1962 Stockport County were called the Peoples Club of Manchester. Enough said about that terminology.

Yeh, I think it’s a bit crap meself. I don’t mind the typeface but that "sunburst" effect in the middle of the badge is pretty tacky. I’d prefer if all the official branding was done in a royal/white combination only. Some fans go apeshit when the shirt isn’t quite royal blue (cc1996 "Sampdoria" design) so why render the badge with lighter shades? At least we haven’t been forced completely re-design the whole badge by shirt manufacturers a la Leeds. I’d guess that Anthony Newell’s take on Bill’s involvement with club branding policy, evident in the stadium design, isn’t far off the mark. Having said that, design excellence in relation to football is all too rare.

Kevin, the answer to that question you’d be surprised to know is yes.

Amongst other things I like the fact that Everton FC now possesses a set of players that I feel can be the nucleus of something really special and to be proud of. And yes, before you say it we have David Moyes for drafting in those players and Kenwright to thank for facilitating it

However and paradoxically, I wouldn’t be ranting so much if I didn’t think we were on the cusp of really going places. The manager however has reached his natural level and can do no more to advance us to that next stage. Unfortunately, the same applies to the board who have proven on many occasions that they can’t be trusted with the commercial basics. The idea of snapping up a ’freebie’ offer to provide an answer to the stadium conundrum is as ill-thought out as it is potentially suicidal in terms of it’s longer term consequences

Like I said the other day a complete makeover is required from the bottom up

To be honest I believe this is the last thing to concern ourselves about at the moment. Don?t see a problem with it myself we have had it for 7 years and not had many in depth discussions about it either way. What next the shorts are to long we should all wear long sleeve tops, sometimes I wonder.

Personally I never liked it ... I preferred the 80’s style badge with just EFC emblazoned across it (al-a Ratcliffe era)..

Now I think we should get rid of this type of motif altogether along with ’nil satis nisi optimimum’ this is old hat with the new Everton...

We should have a new crest with a placcy bag as the centrepiece, coupled with a motto of ’omnis parvo adiuvo’... or something like that...

this post is a nonsence. Our badge is fantastic and I wear it with pride when I wear my replica shirts. It is a great badge for a great club. You moan about our board as if we are the only club ever to cock things up behind the scenes. Take a look at Chelsea or spurs at the moment or West Ham last year. Moyes is a God who deserves our support. Ok it was a draw on Thursday but had AJ scored them penalties then Moyes would be praised for masterminding a 3-0 victory. Oh and by the way I am not from Liverpool but am fully aware of the history of the tower and do travel to the Pool on many an occaisionto watch games and enjoy the city.

The badge is fine, I wear it with pride too but IMHO it isn’t as good as the older ones... in fact the post reminded me of the days when players didn’t wear badges when they played..

hell of a side, that ... they didn’t need a badge to show who they were... the rest of the league was scared shitless of us. Would sacrifice the current badge any day to get Everton a side like that again.

The badge is awful but since it is our badge I’ve never whinged. While the yellow/amber may link us to our away kits it still adds a touch of tackiness that shouldn’t be there. Keep it blue and white and it works much better

Are you serious? what’s wrong with it? it is our crest and it say’s Everton underneath. ain’t that what is is supposed to be for? our symbol, our identity. strange post my friend. look at liverpool’s utter shite, maybe they felt guilty for stealing not only our citie’s name but out citie’s emblem as well. shithouses took the easy option ,what right did they have? we were the first. is there a london fc? they should have called themselves anfield, but they were playing catch up were’nt they? sorry for the rant feel so much better now

Mick, when we move to Kirkby, all that "nicked our city’s name, nicked our city’s emblem as well"Won’t really matter, will it?Because, they will be the only club in Liverpool, and will have sole rights to the name and emblem of the city.
