Moyes has totally lost the plot

Moyes has totally lost the plot. Simply, how could this so-called professor leave his best 2 strikers, I mean in-form strikers, on the bench at the start of the Aston Villa game? Give me a break, Moyes deserves what he gets after this selection, he has totally lost the plot!
And in regards to that previous Uefa Cup game, how could you possibly offer a 2nd penalty to any player who missed the first penalty? Anyone would have known his confidence was already shot. Moyesy, Moyesy, Moyesy, you leave me totally bewildered with your moves!

In the face of all the abuse levelled at David Moyes this week, Mr Kenwright has demonstrated his total faith in our best modern manager by tabling a new five-year contract worth £15million. As someone said recently, `This is the Everton way`. How fortunate we are to have them both!

I made some noises many weeks back that I expected J-curve Moyes to put us through more misery before things get better. I?ll revise that and say that I no longer expect any upside. This is fucking misery with a capital M and don?t worry there?s another five games ahead for plenty more knife twisting: Newcastle and Metallist away, Liverpool at home, and Derby County getting their act together. I?m going to make a bold prediction and say that losing to Derby County will be the point where Moyes?s position will become untenable. In my eyes we have already reached that point though, some would say we reached that point in the aftermath of Bucharest.
Your record signing benched prompts some pertinent questions like: what the fuck is going on? If he is shite (and I don?t think he is) why was he bought in the first place? Why wasn?t eleven and a half million dukes spent exactly where we needed it? Well never mind, he?s brought on with 20 minutes to go so there?s plenty of time for him to turn it around. You are as inept when it comes to substitutions as you are inept when it comes to tactics and team selections.
David Moyes, thank you for what you have done for Everton Football Club but please go now. You have done your bit, now pass the baton to someone who can, because you have now become a liability. Let's avoid this ending in a bitter and acrimonious way as that wouldn?t be right and you don?t deserve it. Bill Kenwright, please recognise what is happening here and end this farce for the good of the club, put everyone out of their misery. You did it before with Wally, just don?t let it drag on so long this time.
Make no mistake I am one whinging, ranting and angry bastard at the minute and a fully justified one at that. Game Over, Season Over.

What once used be our platform to build on during our games have seem to vanished. Our solid defence has gone, we seem to be shipping too many sloppy/silly goals. with two more again today, I no longer feel that if we score, we will hold on for the 3pts.
We are unable to score from open play, whenever we get into a good position we either play a pass too many, put in a poor cross and fail to be the 1st man.
Without Arteta we have no creativity, Neville tries to get a grip on the game but his passing his shocking and either ends up with the opposition or putting a team mate straight under pressure. It beats me why we play Neville in midfield either play him out of the way at right-back or not at all.
Todays subsitutions were awful taking off our two strikers and replacing them with another two who take an age to get into the game was poor. Johnson and Anchibe were causing Villa problems but moyed taked them off. What that will do to Johnsons confidence I don?t know, altough he wasn?t playing brilliant, he was doing enough to justify staying on.
Our squad is not capable to handle a Premiership match with a few injuries, never mind a good run in Europe.
My priorities in January is a new right-back who attack as well as defend (ie. Baines with a right-foot), another creative midfielder and perhaps two wide players who can gives us some width and blance to the side.
Anyway thats my views and my rant over.

WHAT GAMES DO YOU WATCH ???

Thanks for everything Moyes but it is time to move over, I think the Seville manager would be a good move if we could get him. If Moyes stays, which is 90% certain that he will, I fear for Everton this season: out of all cups at the first hurdle and lucky to get in top 10, which now is not good enough. Please, Moyes do the right thing: let someone else have a go.

Over the last couple of seasons, I can count on one hand the amount of games Everton have looked good going forward; the rest have been up and at them, backs to wall. The bottom line is when he does try and play the game on the deck we end up getting beat and look awful. This tells me the only way he can keep us in this division is play ugly ? this is the only way we know how.
I am seriously thinking about how long can Moyes remain in the job. The players look stale, the tactics are inept and it is becoming all so predictable. Do we need a fresh start with a new manager or do we stick with Moyes and hope he gets a bit of luck with team selection? Because at the moment there is no balance whatsoever in the team.

I have been a Moyes’ supporter overall, but maybe he simply doesn’t have what it takes to turn a solid defensive unit into a team that can score regularly and make the most of the skilled players he has purchased.

The defence is shambolic, how anyone can comically describe it as a "solid defensive unit" i do not know. When we have had a truly cohesive defence under Moyes it has always included a less fancied, old head, such as Weir or Stubbs. While detractors tend to focus on their lack of pace, they always seem to forget their reading of the game, ability to organise and instruct, etc and how invaluable this is.
I would bring back Stubbs and partner him with Yobo, pushing Lescott out to left back. This would in turn free up Baines who could play left midfield and we would hopefully have a threat down the left and some decent service for our strikers.
The midfield is non-existent. I have tried to defend players like Osman in particular, in the past, but enough is enough. The lad has no fixed position, doesn’t have the attributes to play on the wing nor further in field and tends to go completely missing for 90mins or more depending on how generous the officials are with the injury time. Pienaar doesn’t look good enough cut it in the premiership and the rest of the currently available midfielders are just "water carriers" to put it politely. I would put Arteta on the right with Baines down the left. Then, having moved Neville to right back, have a midfield duo for the time being, of either Tommy and Cars or Jags.
The attack is not helped by the lack of service and the general "style" of play. Nor is it helped by Yakubu’s "work-rate". But as someone suggested on another thread, perhaps if our forwards stopped chasing lost causes it might encourage Moyes to change the way we play.

But I feel with the introduction of recent quality players such as Baines, Jags and possibly Yakubu and the quality missing from the team at the moment, there could be some hope. It is only when we get all the squad together for a long run I think then we can judge a bit better how Moyse will progress. Although the way I have felt over the years I am not hopeful for the future of David Moyes at EFC.

-------------------------------
For the love of God - Stubbs turns slower than the Queen Mary these days & unless we’re defending on our own 18 yard line - he’s shafted. Unfortunately Moyes will share your thought process & he’ll back next week for sure - with the awful Hibbert still at RB & Steptoe still wandering around the centre of the park, like a fish out of water.
Moyes tactics (or lack of) & his inability to see the blindingly obvious - are making me question his ability to lead us any further.
Is he capable of producing a side that is attractive to watch & competitive? Or is another 5 years of lump it & hope???

- Per Krøldrup? (Sold on at loss)
- James Beattie? (Sold on at loss)
- James McFadden? (Only performs for scotland)
- Anderson Da Silva? (Poor Player)
- Andy Van Der Meyde (Speaks for himself ? surely any manager who buys a player must do their homework on him including their likely social activities.)
- Simon Davies: plain shit and injury prone surely Moyes would have realised this after of pursuing him for two years. Sold on at loss.
- Tim Cahill had a medical at Crystal palace and was ready to sign until there tight-arse chairman refused to pay the fee Tim's agent was after.
- Mikel Arteta would not be at Everton but for the fact Real Madrid came in for Gravesen in the January.
- Yakubu; clearly lazy doesn't suit Moyes style of play.
- Jagielka; on verge of the England squad last season, Sheff Utd's best player, but gets left out at right back were he is clearly better than Hibbert and he is ten times better than Osman an Carsley in midfield.
ps: I wonder if us blues will ever get to know what it feels like to be in the group stages of a European competition...???
20 Posted 23/09/2007 at 20:42:38
Can Moyes get Arteta performing at his best in a set up which doesn’t include Fernandes ?
Can Yakubu pay off even a fraction of the money and faith that’s been invested in him ?
If the answer to these questions is no, then we’re in big trouble. And Yakubu starting on the bench is a serious red flag. Moyes is not in the habit of starting his key players on the bench.

Sparky would be excellent, but I fear he’s biding his time for a shoo in at OT.
