Arteta

Did anybody hear Moyes being interviewed on radio merseyside? When asked did he think we missed Arteta, and when would he back from injury, his reply was "No,we don't miss Mikel" and the injury "No, I don't know when he will be back." That was it.
Now, I might be reading into it to much but, could there be a bit more to it than we think?

I saw him make a similar comment about Arteta the other which I found odd. It was almost like the kind of remark Kendall made about Speed before the West ham game.

If he is still "injured" for the Kharkiv away game it says it all

Or to put it another way, David Moyes comes on TV and says that we’re missing Arteta, what does that say to the players who aren’t performing? To me it would say, "my other players are shit" Now call me stupid, but to use a little sports psychology here, that wouldn’t be the best move with regards to motivating a mildy beleagured squad now would it.

Or put it another way Allan. How would it make Arteta feel, hearing the manager say we are not missing in him in the side? The players aren’t stupid, they know were missing Arteta.I don’t think they would be hurt if Moyes had said we are missing him. When Alex Ferguson was asked if they were missing Rooney, his answer was "without a doubt"I just can’t see where you are coming from with your remarks Allan.

I don’t even want to consider losing Mikel.
One player we need more than any other, it is him.

Brian, you’ve just stated that it might make Arteta feel bad if Moyes says we’re not missing him - I’ve said the opposite so surely you CAN see where I’m coming from?!
What I’m saying is, that saying we miss Arteta could make those in the team feel like they’re not up to the job. I grant you we know they’re not, but its not exactly going to fill them with confidence is my point.
We do miss Arteta, badly, but I would also point out that he’s not played well this season anyway so maybe Moyes is right. The games we won were mainly due to the other teams playing badly, and Tommy’s cross at the death at Bolton. Other than that, we’ve not played well in any of our games. 10 points flatters us.

I have believed since the start of the season EFC promised preseason to buy a top class midfielder to support Arteta and he got very pissed off when they messed about with Fernandes and then lost him.
Arteta hasnt played well since.
I hope I’m wrong but there you go.

Mikel Arteta is too good a player to be playing for Everton Football Club in our current condition. He probably is fed up that no other attack minded player in the squad is on the same wavelength or can play football the ’proper’ way. He probably feels cheated and lied to, because I cant believe he would have signed a new 5 year contract if Kenwright and Moyes had said to him that they were not going to strengthen the squad. The standard of football so far this season continues to be abject and for poor old Mikel, he is still surrounded by the worst midfield in the Premership. He’s probably had a gutful and the club only has themselves to blame if we lose him.

No one would deny that Mikel Arteta is pure quality, but if people are suggesting that he is going to start crying his eyes out because we didn’t sign him someone to play with in midfield then I’d be disappointed in him. He has been at Goodison long enough to know the kind of ’football’ we play and he was happy enough to sign a new 5 year deal a month ago. If he was promised that we would be signing quaility players, I don’t think he can say he was lied too. We missed Fernandes, but we got quite a few others in.
I think the problem is that our expectations were increased to a such a degree that now we’ve had a few poor results the real discussion has began. ie....
Why when we’ve spent so much on players who should really improve our squad do we either leave them out or not play to their strengths? Instead we play poorer players out of position or keep faith with players who have been performing poorly. We play god awful football week in week out and maybe it’s time we changed this.

If hes not in the team for the return leg then I think hes on his way if so he will go with my gratitude and best wishes of course I will be devastated but it must be frustrating being the only footballer in our midfield week in week out I feared the worse when his standard slipped this season and think the Manny fiasco was the last straw I just hope he stays and Moyes gets him a decent partner for midfield.

Or, who knows, he maybe genuinely injured and Moyes may not think we are missing him... Why does there always have to be a "theory".One thing is for certain, when Arteta and cahill are fit they will fucking walk into the side.

Well said Matty.
I’m sure the last thing Moyes wanted to do was give an interview after the match. He was probably just annoyed.

Allan Hobbs,
Moyes never has a problem pointing out that we miss Cahill when he is injured so why wouldn’t he say the same of Arteta ? Saying "we miss him" isn’t necessarily insulting to Steven Pisspoor and Leon Assman because it could be taken to mean we just "miss him being around."

The word on the street is that Arteta is injured and has missed the past couple of games because of.... you guessed it, injury.
Nothing more, nothing less.

He has played his last game for the club so get used to Pienarr and Osman as our new wide men.

Why exactly has Arteta palyed his last game for this club? He is injured! Simple as. Players get injured, its no conspiracy they are human beings and they get injured. Mikel Arteta will be in the starting 11 v Boro, if not Sheff Wed

Just to add to the "conspiracy" theory re Arteta, how come he’s not on the official club website injuries list?
Gavin Ramejkis
Posted 23/09/2007 at 23:06:14
Leachim I checked the official website before driving down from HMNB Clyde (Faslane) were I was working for the UEFA game the only injuries listed were Cahill and Vaughan, that site is a fucking disgrace, you can find out more asking kids on the street.

I think its sad that every one (including me) panics at the thought of Arteta leaving even though its only rumour But Moyes has got to start buying creative players,in Arteta,Baines Cahill he has made great signings sadly Neville and Beattie were wrong and although its early Yakubu has not up to now shown much hope

Just watched moyes getting interveiwed on sky sports,He said we played a little better than we have in recent games,His next words were,(we were rubbish in defence and we were rubbish in attack)says it all i think,HE HAS LOST THE PLOT TOTALLY.By the way Mikel only signed the new contract cos he thought we were getting a shiny new stadium,Maybe they lied about that too.

Bill Clinton are you havin a laff...watch Pineaar on YouTube, sell Cahill... are you serious!!How about watching what Pienaar does in an Everton shirt. All I see is an Osman clone with a little bit more pace..top class I don’t think so!!
As for selling Cahill, he’s the only midfield player we have who can get us a goal...god help us.How about getting the team to play to the strength of it’s players by playing the ball to feet, getting men wide & getting behind teams instead of just aimlessly hoofing the ball up front to no-one in particular...something Arteta does very well. If Moyes thinks that we don’t miss him he’s definately lost the plot. Our current midfield is SHITE with a capital SHITE..Neville is a FULL BACK end of...get Mikel (& Cahill) back and QUICK !!

We miss Cahill just as much as Arteta! While Arteta can carve out a peach of a cross, Cahill gets us goals. The sooner we get them back the better.

Hello my Everton friends..
I do not wish to make alarm, but on valencia web page today it is reported in exclusive that Mikel Arteta is looking to join the club in January transfer window as is very very un happy with Mr Moyes and Everton. They made lies to him when signing contract for 5 years. He wanted Fernandes to sign for midfield but did not happen....
