Get a grip

Fellow Evertonians, get a grip and take a reality check. People calling for the head of David Moyes, what do you propose? Sack Moyes after half a dozen games in?? Come on, who do we bring in? Mourinho??? Think about it; we are all disappointed and angry but sacking the manager ? is that the clever thing to do?
We our a small squad and we have got major injuries to our midfield, we haven?t got the quality on the bench to deputize for the likes of Arteta, Cahill and Gravesen. We have two strikers who have never played together before a few weeks ago and people have already made their minds up on Yakubu and Johnston. Come on lads in a few weeks time we should be back up to full strength baring any more injuries and our keeper will be back, loosing a keeper of Howard?s standard and then bringing in a goalie that as never played in the Premier League before.
I am not making excuses for the brand of football we play but to call for the head of the manager is crazy after a few games. I despair for Everton though; we are tearing ourselves apart over the ground move and now people wanting the manager sacked and it's only September... it?s great supporting this club.

I can see what your saying Peter, but there are those who will argue that we are not half a dozen games in but rather half a dozen years in to his tenure and instead of taking a big step forward this season we seem to be getting found out.
The small squad you point to is partly the fault of the manager and partly the fault of the board, as is the brand of football we play. However Davy took us on when no one else would touch us and after the Spurs game he was hailed by most (but not all) as a genius where as now he’s a ’Championship’ manager.
I like Moysey and I respect him for giving me hope in the team again, but watching us play is hard work. I don’t think it is wrong for us to expect more from both he and the team, I just wonder if he/they have anymore to give.

Peter, regarding management I couldnt agree more. However, I do think questions should be asked of Yakubu and AJ. Addmittedly, I havent seen too much of The Yak but I am concerned by what I have heard on this site and from Boro fans concerning his work ethic or lack there of. If it was just a case of Yakubu not clicking just yet then there would be no complaints but laziness has been mentioned time and again. As for AJ, the was never a question regarding his heart, we know how hard he works but Marcus Bent worked hard too...Andy needs to start firing quickly.

Peter, you are missing the point mate, it isnt "only six games in", it is six years in !! and whilst it can be argued that he hasnt had too much dough to spend in that time, whatever he has had he has very rarely spent on good footballing players, very few in fact, hence the reason that if Arteta is injured we havhe no one who can play the ball.....there are clearly fans who are just fed up of it, me included, and whilst acknowledging that he has brought us stability and has assembled a very good squad, if he cant use the tools at his disposal then what is the point!? my ideal would be someone to come in and help him on the tactical and passing footballing side, but if not...then the players he bought are already here now and they wont leave if he leaves....i cant help relishing the thought of our current squad, money to spend in January, and a very good European manager, then we will see what we are all craving to see.....

Yakubu is a top draw stiker no argument there look at the facts. David Moyes is not playing to his strengths so the yak will look bad, in my eyes it is like having someone who is a great singer and making them only dance its like the long ball to johnson to win the header against samba(blackburn) villa same again leave the lads alone and take a look at the bigger picture!

Lets just hope the dickheads don’t start singing Moyes out on Saturday and waving their banners. We have got some decent players now and I am confident that we have a young manager who will learn by his mistakes and improve the style of play. But to sack him now will be a total disaster for EFC, you only at to look at Chelsea on Sunday a team who looked piss poor. Arteta Cahill and Graveson will give us that bit of class we need in the middle of the park they will all be back soon together with Howard and young vaugn. We will take three points on Saturday from the skunks, so get behind the team and manager and for fuck sake don’t start any of that Moyes out you just play into the hands of Newcastle.

David spot on mate, whats the point of buying a Cannon if you cant supply it with shells ?
Moyes knew that midfield was the priority, we could have got two decent players in for what we have spent on the Yak.
The man is a championship manager at best, I am sure Preston would love him back. Mick Mc, Cahill is not an out and out midfield player, his best position is just behind our strike force, you cant rely on Tommy G for a season so you are left with Arteta. Roll on January and lets hope we get someone in who can help out our little Spaniard.

Moyes is pretty good at unearthing cheap talent from the lower leagues.
I think he could be a useful head scout if we ever get a proper manager in.

For those of you not old enough to have seen Bob Latchford one of the best Everton number 9s he didnt run around chasing every ball he was a six yard box man so perhaps Yakubu is the same. For goodness sake give the man a chance before we have him condemned as lazy etc

It’s been a pretty dreadful week for Everton FC. Like most of you, I have a few gripes about some of the players, and about Moyes’s tactics in these games. But to call for Moyes to be sacked at this time, as so many threads are doing, is insanity. First off, there is zero chance of it happening. 2006/7 was a successful season, we qualified for Europe for the 2nd time in 3 years. Since then we’ve splashed out over £20m on new players. At the very least, Moyes has earned himself another full season, and the board will give him that.
Moyes is widely respected in the game, largely because of what he has achieved with Everton. Listen to what other managers say about us. They know we’ll always give them a hard game. We’re a feared team. Imagine if Moyes actually were to be sacked now. We’d be the laughing stock of the football world, noone would understand it.
We’re still in every competition. Nothing’s been lost yet. Why can’t some Everton fans give Moyes the same respect that others do, and judge him over the whole season and not just a couple of games - and yes guys we are talking a couple of games, because how many of you had the nerve to call for Moyes’s head last May ?
