The Hard But Obvious Truth

Hibbert, although Everton through and through, one of our better defenders, cannot attack at all, so why do we persist in over-using him and passing to him at every oppourtunity?

Neville is nowhere near a central midfielder and in MANY people's opinions should not be captain of Everton Football Club. After yesterday's defeat he trots over to the Evertonians as if he was sorry; enough is enough ? he's not good enough to be a centre-mid, and it's also annoying that Moyes always fits him in his team somewhere. Hibbert will be dropped but you watch: Neville will slot in there, also he only passes side-to-side or backwards.

It does pain me to say this but it looks like we're a one-man team. When Mikel Arteta is either off-form or not playing, we have got no imagination. When Gravesen signed, Moyes said he was a squad player; after the Bolton match we all knew he'd be much more than that. Pienaar looks technically good and worked very hard on Sunday, but he looks the same type of player Osman is ? good technique but easily knocked off the ball.

Felt harsh on all the strikers on Sunday, doesn't matter how much money you spend on attackers, if you have Phil Neville trying to thread the killer ball through, you're never going to score.

The nerve of the Club captain going over to applaud the travelling supporters! What is the world coming to?!
Let’s face it, if he would have stormed off without acknowledging the supporters, you’d be whinging at him for doing that.
Phil can do no right with some fans from what I can see and I suspect his main crime in their eyes is coming from Manchester.

Aint nothing hard about the truth, Neville and Hibbert are squad players at best. Both will thrive to the best of their ability when the pressure is off them.
Moyes needs to recognise that the balance of the team is completely ski-whiff, and we are playing so negatively, that our own worst enemy’s are currently ourseves.
We are damaging our promising start to the season by standing by these players who are just not good enough for at this moment in time. Moyes needs to be big and bold enough to be decisive axe the captain and "honest" Tony Hibbert.
How many more spins can people put on it?
For me the hard but obvious truth is the fact that we beleive that we are better than what we actually are. Time to wake up Everton, from top to bottom.

We all know Hibbert is not quite up to it. But as we could see against Villa in the second half, he does pick a short pass if given the option and his crosses are not a bit more hopeless than Neville’s.

We need a good right back but we do not have one so what can the team do?

The sensible choice would be to take the pressure off Hibbert or Neville or whoever plays there. Hibbert’s demise is that he’s always available. When the goalkeeper throws the ball out, he’s almost always the only man unmarked. When he passes to the midfielder ahead of him (instead of hoofing it up aimlessly), the ball is usually knocked back to him instantly and we’re back to square one. Then he’s being closed down and has no option but fire a vicious kick towards the corner flag rather than being caught in possession.

Now, opponents know this full well, we know it too, so why don’t we try to solve the situation? It’s simple: the midfielder in right center has to move back and claim the ball and if he can’t turn, he should knock it back to Yobo. Instead of confining our game to a hopeless position near the right touchline, we should spread our build-up out on the full width of the pitch.
