What is failure

I would be genuinely interested to know at what point the Moyes boys would lose faith and sack the 'average one'. I hold his managerial abilities in total contempt and would sack him today but realise this is never going to happen with a chairman who would not recognise the right decision if it ran him over.

But if you are a Moyes believer (assuming there are any apart from Dodd left) at what point would you give up the faith? How about a finish outside the top eight and the usual early exits from all of the cups - what/s your bid? (No general bullshit about progess to date etc.. BE SPECIFIC!)

If we fail to achieve anything of note this season with the playing style continuing the I would consider going into next season with a bad start sealing Moyes’ fate.

Last season’s performance, whatever you thought of the lows, bought him some time and barring a real long-lasting crisis I think he deserves that time.

John I see where you are coming from but surely if he cant secure consecutive top half finishes after 6 years that should be enough for anyone. I just think with Moyes some fans seem to be more concerned with him suceeding rather than the club suceeding - its a mystery to me. For every Kendall or Ferguson who comes good there are countless and forgotten ones who dont

I haven’t lost all patience with Moyes, I would say though at the moment I stand by the guy, but the run to Christmas needs to show key improvement, we can’t go out of Europe again at the first stage.

Honestly don’t know If i will lose all faith by Christmas, last season was hard and I want to see improvement on the field in terms of results aswell as quality of play.

If we go out of all cups at a very early stage (surely a semi isn’t too much to ask, or a couple of quarter finals), our league form is leaving us struggling around 10th, Moyes could well be in for a long season.

But even if we were 16th and totally out of all cups, anyone really see Kenwright getting shut?

Not sure I’d consider myself a consistent Moyes fan - I tend to waver, appreciating what he’s done in terms of league positions, and bemoaning the quality of football involved.

But I’d say pretty clearly that, given the time and money that Moyes has now had, anything less than achieving European football again in 2008-9 should be unacceptable. Everton have to be consistently in Europe. Anything less and someone else should get a go.

John Doolan, using your method of judgement, if we have a run of wins in any of the cups or finish above ninth you would be satisfied and Moyes classed as successful?

If he doesn’t win the uefa cup, the premiership and the fa cup this season I would say we would have to sack him.

Get real everyone, Moyes is doing the best with the resources he has. End of the day we aren’t Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal, but we’re holding our own. The season has barely started yet, there’s plenty of work to be done.

I like moyes I think he has done wonders since he arrived, but I am pissed off with our quality of play, I do wonder how the pinnacle of world club league football (EPL ?) can produce such shit.
