Pink for Girls

Comments (17)

I am sure a lot of us female supporters were quite taken by the pink supporters shirt being worn by Guilia Bould and Amanda Holden. I, for one, really fancied one and went on to the Megastore only to see that the pink limited edition shirt will not be stocked and will not be for sale.

I am sure that a lot of us girls would have bought them and the sales money or 50% of it could have gone to the Breast Cancer Fund. Well done EFC you could have made some more money for a worthy cause. You have missed the boat yet again!

As a male supporter who buys just about every shirt with a missus who thinks it’s a bit tacky to wear them unless you are at or watching a match - I know, she can’t possibly understand - it’s difficult to get her to wear one. I have converted her from being entirely devoid of footballing knowledge to an almost true blue. The shirt is my last hurdle and I woudl love to buy her one. As soon as I saw the pink version I thought it was the answer and made the same enquiries as you. I too am gutted my plan has been foiled and think we have missed an opportunity.

As a limited edition I think it could only benefit the range of products on sale and increase revenue since most toffeewomen I know would have the regular one plus the limited edition. Looking at some of the products in the catalogue with a limited sales potential how did this one pass the merchandising team by?

My cousin sits next to me at the game and is one of my disabled passengers as she is recovering from breast cancer a bloody good cause that these tops are meant to support surely? So why can’t they be found anywhere, a great business opportunity missed from both an aesthetic sale, I know a fair few female relatives that would buy it for aesthetics and it’s charity support.

I agree completely, It’s certainly a very worthy cause and It may be worth contacing Graeme Sharp who is the Everton fan liason officer.
At least he can ask the question...

I live in a house with 3 females and as you may have guessed Pink is their favourite colour!

My 12 year old daughter who also has a leaning towards Chelsea ( it’s tough when you live down South ) lit up when she saw the picture with Amanda Holden wearing that pink shirt. My chance has come, I thought, the perfect time to reaffirm Everton while Chelsea are in turmoil - the pink shirt will be the clincher.

But, No! Like an Andy Johnson twice taken penalty, I log onto the megastore to be greeted by that terse message about pink shirts ’never’ being available and like Johnson’s penalty the chance is gone!

The tone of the message is, ’ bugger off and stop pestering us for pink shirts’. I should have known our commercial dept would get it wrong... again.

I can only echo the thoughts of the other fans.

Both my wife and daughter would have loved a pink shirt. Just think of the number that could have been sold - upwards of 20,000 I would have guessed (all the ladies who attend the game, wives and girlfriends of the blokes, daughters etc).

But are we REALLY that surprised that the club have cocked it up again?

"Kenwright and worthy cause don?t go in the same sentance"

What about his 25000 donation to the maddy mccan fund?

Isn’t that a worthy cause?

You’re talking shite.

Steve I’m a lady who attends every home game and I’m sorry but there’s no way I’d wear a pink shirt.

Helen, I’m with you, I would buy a pink shirt to support a worthy cause (a real charity not Bully’s pension fund) but I would NEVER wear it in public. I don’t think that wearing a pink shirt goes with me jumping up and down and effing and blinding at the ref does it? Anyway, me old fella would think I’d gone all girly and expect me to cook and wash the dishes or something, nah, pink’s not for me.

Yes, once again , EFC Corporate Cock Up couldnt spot what the fans want in a million years!

Lue and Helen - I wasn’t wanting to wear a PINK shirt for a football game, but rather to support a good cause and thought it would be nice to have a pink shirt to wear for recreational purposes and by doing so, help spread the Gospel

Just to let everyone know, I actually e-mailed Graeme Sharp asking him about the pink shirts and, apparently, discussions are currently taking place between Everton, Umbro and Breast Cancer Research to see if the club can actually get them made and sold.

I know of two people who would have certainly bought those shirts. Earlier comments about the terse message on the website are spot on as well. Surely they must have known that this shirt would generate interest otherwise why go to the trouble of making it in the first place? If they are limited, does anyone know how limited and if you can get them anywhere else?

Lucky Steve Flanagan... he got an answer about the pink shirts from Graham Sharp. I also e-mailed him two days ago and am still waiting for the courtesy of a reply.

I would wear a pink shirt with pride :0) Pink is not just for ’Ladies Day’. And some of the players would look good in the limited edition colour.....
