Swindon's No 2

Comments (6)

What has it come to when Everton are taking Swindon's second-choice goalkeeper on loan? A quick look at Wikipedia shows that he played few games last season, after suffering a bad injury. He's also 27, so hardly young. A bad game at the end of last season appears to have persuaded the manager to go with their new first choice Paul Smith. Furthermore, he's second choice for a 3rd tier side. Last season was Iain Turner not one of the best keepers in the second tier? What the hell do we want with a 27-year-old who is not good enough for Swindon in what was once Division 3? Has Moyes completely lost the plot?

Advice to Turner and Ruddy. I'd pack your bags now lads; looks like you'll never get a fair run in the side.

He’s not on loan though is he?

He’s on a two day trial, Everton have heard good things about him and wanted to check him out. Simple as, if he’s not good enough that’s it, but a two day trial hardly constitutes a loan, get your facts right first eh?

I think Turner will go anyway the lad isn’t good enough and he is Scottish, aren’t Scottish goalies renowned for being shite.
Ruddy may make the grade early days yet but goalies do not peak until their late 20’s unlike other positions so 27 isn’t very old. He is only being taken on trial, I don’t think Wessels is the best no 2 keeper in the world and you have to explore other options and always look to improve on what you have.
However Wessels. is a better no. 2 than that French RS goalie I saw last night versus Reading. If Reina gets injured they are in the deep stuff.

Why does Moyes seem to have no trouble signing four goalkeepers, having done it several times, but can’t find and keep more than one skillful midfielder. After the UEFA Cup game he was saying that the side he picked was forced on him. Now, after having bought him two years before but unable to play him, and being short on in midfield, it appears that da Silva has gone on extended loan to Barnsley. Can anyone out there fathom this rubbish. I know he is only on a two day trial but where are all these ’keepers going to get any match practice at any time this season and would that have anything to do with Dickie Wright’s and Turners loss of form?

Hasnt anyone else yet cottoned on what Moyes i doing; its genius!!

Hes trying to make sure we have 5-6 goalkeeps to play along the back four. That way we can ensure we tighten up at the back and play the kind of fotoball he wants....
