Lescott

It baffles me that Lescott is not being seriously touted for England. What more can you want from a defender? He gets goals and is a solid back line man who can play out of position at left back. I know that playing for England increases his chances of injury and I would rather see him in a blue shirt, but what's your opinion???

I am quite happy for him to be as far away from the England squad as possible.

The last thing I want is for one of the ’Big Four’ to come sniffing like they always do when one of our players hits the England fold.

Rooney, Barmby, Ball, Keown, their heads seem to get a little too big when the England shirt gets put on and their heads turn.

I understand the urge to push Lescott for England but if Carragher can not make it into the England first team I can’t see Lescott breaking it either.

Terry and Ferdinand is a quality pairing that will only take injury or age to split up. The best Lescott can hope for is to make the squad.

I do agree he should be in the England squad tho.

While I am delighted with Lescott I think he needs more experiance to reach that level as he occasionally gets caught out of position

Engerland can sod off, he’ll get splinters in his arse over one of the glamour boys or get injured in some meaningless game or get tapped up by the ponces in the team. The national team is shite.

Its not a matter whether Ball actually wanted to go anywhere or not the fact is he did..If Lescott did get recognised as a reguluar for the national team then the big boys would soon start sniffing around and its easy to get your head turned by the possible glamour move to a Champoions League club and one challening for major honours.

Laescott is not that special and nowhere near as good a defender as Woodgate. He has a bad habit of heading balls straight to attackers and is most effective when being talked through a game by Stubbs.Hence ’the old fella’s’inclusion yesterday.

we’ve got 3 england squad members right now and baines will be sniffin around soon if his form carries on
that makes 4 everton players in the england squad
we would be classed as a very attractive proposition for english and international players if that happens so i can’t see lescott going anywhere
the only big four team that would benefit from him right now would be chelsea but lescott is a clever lad, he knows squad rotation doesn’t always work in players favour.
arsenal would want him if he cost 6mil but we’d want 10 at least so wenger won’t spend that on a defender

Lescott is a great player, maybe he needs another season under his belt, to iron out a few things in his game, but after the European Championships should we qualify, I would be looking for him and Baines to be pushing for places in the World Cup Qualifiers.
Having said that if Terry is injured he may get in now he is better than Brown or Dawson.

As well as Ball you’re doing a great disservice to Keown. He didn’t want to go. He was very happy at the club and he said as much at the time. Everton couldn’t get him out the door quick enough when Arsenal came sniffing.

A fine centre back who went on to achieve great things. Sold cheaply by a short sited and incompetently run football club.

Oh how things have changed.
