Jose Baxter

Comments (16)

I have been watching this kid progress over six months or so and have found myself getting quite excited. He seems to have won a few honours for Everton and England and talk on various ZEverton sites is that he has already signed a contract with Nike and Rooney's agent. Even his coach at Everton has said he is better than Rooney was at his age. Shall we be getting exited?

Wow, he sounds good - very good, but not going to get too excited yet - besides which, seem to have a tendancy to rest our young players a lot so that they don’t burn out before being sold on!

OK, that’s a little to cinical - wish the lad all the best, and hope he continues perfoming the way he has to date.

No, Rooneys agent will engineer a move so he can get a cut

Lets hope baxter has a little more loyalty and passion for Everton then that the always-trying-to-end-a-goal-drought Rooney.

Haha, an accurate description, Dutch.

If hes signed a contract with Stretford any excitement I felt just disappeared.

Gone before he’s twenty.

Over Moyes & Kenwrights dead bodies natch...

If Jose Baxter is any good then an agent like Stretford will cash him in. What good is he to Stretford without a cut of a transfer deal.
He will engineer a move to Man Utd or Chelsea and then take a big cut of a fee.
Players from the so called big 4 have moves engineered to continental giants like Real Madrid, AC Milan or Barcelona by their agents because again its a big pay day for them.
What good is a guy who only played for one club in his career to an agent, Trevor Brooking, Bily Bonds, Brian Labone and Bobby Charlton.
In fact I cant think of anyone other than Labone that played for Everton only in the last 30 years unless someone can shed some light on it, I think Colin Harvey played somewhere at the very end of his career like Sheff Wed, which in theory makes him nearly a one club player, but even now at the end of their careers players dont go down to the lower divisions except for Nick Barmby.

How about some of the other young lads at the Academy? The like of Agard, Kissock and Rodwell. Are they ones to look out for? Let’s hope for more Rooneys [talent, not the shite attitude] and not more Jevons and Branches.

Agents also get a big cut of new contracts they can get for their players, I am sure Arteta’s agent did because he tried to engineer a move and then he signed a new contract out of the blue.
Is Johnson’s agent behind these rumours of home sickness. Is Johnson married to Unsworth’s ex wife? He found Villa to far from home and moved to Portsmouth & Ipswich which was a laugh as you can’t get much further away.
If you get paid 35 to 40k a week then I find home sickness to be a load of balls, I would happily live in John O’Groats for that type of money.
Man Utd have kept a few of their players over the years, Neville, Scholes, Giggs, and I am sure Phil Neville, Butt and Beckham would of stayed if Fergie didnt get rid of them. However they were all part of an exceptional youth team.
Tony Adams springs to mind in recent times, did Kevin Ratcliffe finish his career at Everton I cant recall.

Things are slightly different now. New rules forbid an agent working for two parties in one transfer. Stretford was Rooney’s agent but also worked for Man Utd as the buying club. He can no longer do this which cuts a portion of revenue for the agent and makes it a lot easier for renegotiations as the agent hasn’t got his eye on a big payout from elsewhere.

A Freudian slip? If Stretford is involved the answer is probably ’Yes’!

James, Kevin Ratcliffe left Everton in 1991 and went on to play for Cardiff, Dundee, Derby, Notts Forest and finally Chester before retiring in 1995.

I think young jose is more than aware about what Stretford achieved for the Scouse Uncle Tom and it says a lot that he has signed a contract with him.

Michael Newton, Matt Le Tissier at Southampton - but in to the detrement of his international career (let’s not get into that argument again)!

Thing is Jose’s doing very well for us right now. He’s been signed by Nike... but in fairness you only have to look at some of the talent we’ve had come through our ranks - players who we’re raved about including the likes of Jeffers *spit*, Cadermatri, currently Vaughn and tragically John Marshall (RIP). Glittering start to a career doesn’t always mean they’re going to dazzle the world. I do hope Vaughn gets back soon though and whilst Jose’s with us let’s back him rather than trying to be Mystic Meg and talk about what will happen to him a few years down the road.

what happened to John Marshall?
