Memorable Blue Moments
Comments (39)
What are your most memorable moments from your time as an Evertonian? It could be a goal, a game, even a full season? Or, like me, it could be something that happened on the way to or from a game, or even at half time.
A lot of the time, being a blue means that some of the best times you will have will be during the travel to and from games, as let's face it, the special moments on the pitch have been few and far between.
The obvious ones being the 'Ferguson' derby in Joe Royle's first game, the 'Amokachi' semi-final in '95 and indeed the final itself. Also, let's not forget the great escape featuring Big Bazza with his wowser!
Aside from these, here is one of mine from my time as a Bluenose:
Leeds Away
Leeds 0
Everton 1 (Rooney)
The game was great as we had not won at Elland Road for so long, and Leeds had the worst side they have fielded for years.
However, it was the coach trip on the way there that I will always remember most. We all brought the usual bags of ale, and a few of us put bags on the arms of the seats for rubbish. One big fat horrible smelly lad sat behind me kept coughing, and, what I thought at the time, looking into a green carrier bag. After about ten mins, he asked me to put one of his empty can into the rubbish.
Being a polite lad, I did. Then I realised my hand was moist, I looked down...to my horror, my hand was covered in snot. The dirty get had been spitting all his plegm into the bag. I thew up immediately into my new Everton bobhat. My mate literally pissed himself laughing. If you are reading this Digger, cheers mate.
We then christened the fat dirtbag as 'The Snot Monster' for the rest of the season. On reaching Wakefield, we were ushered into a closed pub for many drinks, songs, chips and 'raw' sausage butties. Top atmosphere, top game, top day, the best!
So, what are your most memorable moments? I say memorable, as the 'Snot Monster' was and I have almost vomited 3 times whilst writing this piece. I will post some more as part of any thread that builds based on this topic.
I look forward to reading your posts.

No more than a hopeful loan signing and he saved our sorry behinds.

7-1 over Southampton, battering the Hammers at their place inspired by Super Kev.
Then of course the Carsley derby, the Kanchelskis derby, the Sharp derby, the AJ derby and the derby victory at Goodison when McManaman and Grobbelaar had a spat!
They’re just the ones that spring to mind!
I hope that the above brings a smile to readers’ faces, certainly does to mine thinking of them. COYB!

" Don’t panic !! ".
Meeting my other heroes
( Big Nev, Tony Cottee) after the game took my mind off the pain and the disappointing defeat.

Remember big Nev looking like a canary?
Remember when Daniel Amokachi got mixed signals from Joe Royle and ran on the pitch as an accidental Substitute, only to go on and score a brace?
What about Andy Hinchcliffe’s unstoppable corners?
The journey home on the coach was without doubt the proudest moment of my Evertonian career, especially coming back into Liverpool wearing my cheapo "Nigerian Magic" T shirt with a ganga plant on
To cap the lot off I went into school the Monday and my Maths teacher told me I was on the telly at half time waving me scarf.
Mad to think that was 12 years ago........

We were playing Norwich in the FA Cup 95 (5-0 win), and me and a friend were waiting for the players for autographs in our fresh, crisp newly purchased autograph books.
Unsy came through, "David", I said with vigour, "I hope you score today".
"I am suspended you idiot" he said with a smile on his face.
At this stage, my embarrassment was nullified when my 22st mate, who was backing up getting the autograph fell backwards over a drainpipe sticking out for the wall at the Park End/Bullens corner (Check it, it’s still there).
Unsy hasitly made his way into the stadium.

Radzinski scoring twice in the last ten minutes against Southampton to come back from 1-0 down.
Beating Spurs 3-1 on Good Friday and the whole ground bellowing, "I’ve never felt more like singing the Blues, when Everton win, and Liverpool lose........"
Hairs on the back of your neck......

Oh my God, OH MY GOD!!!.... I have never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever seen any side in football come out and destroy the opposite side like they did that night.. For me that night I was in Everton Heaven... I just thought nothing can get better than this, the final was an anti-climax as I already new from that night we’d already won the cup... WHAT A TEAM!!!! It almost brings tears to my eyes thinking about it now, being there with the other 50,000... I must have watched the DVD over 100 times.

Radsinski’s winner (top corner) against Southhampton a few seasons ago. I think I can remember us being one nil down, and as soon as we scored one, the whole of Goodison just knew that we could win the game.
COYB’s!!

The pitch covered with thousands of blues all chanting "Champions!"
Me standing next to my brother just behind the Directors’ Box in the old Main Stand where the players came to receive the trophy - our dad joining us from his seat further over towards the Park End, grinning like an idiot with delight.
Not only a great memory of the blues, but my favourite memory of my dad, who died less than four years later.
I’m still a season ticket holder dad, and I still miss you.

The surprise and jubilation in John Mostson’s voice when the big man scored was the perfect comentary to a perfect match.
Like the ECWC, we won the cup at the semi final stage, I knew we’d beat Man Utd... though Giggs coming on made it a little nurvy.

Never experienced noise or an atmosphere like that since, and don’t expect to ever again.
Walked the four miles home in a complete daze to be greeted by a drunken hug from me ’ald fella, who waiting at the bottom of the street.
Truly magical night all round!

Moments like that remind you how good it is to be a blue.

Some Spurs knobhead running on at elland road and trying to break the crossbar after we had given them a good hiding in 95
Big Dunc’s first goal against the Shite at home the season Royle signed him and the other guy on loan. I remember praying that we signed Fergie that daypermanently
Getting smashed courtesy of Michael Ball laying on the aftershocks in The Grapes in Formby after beating Chelea 2-0, Hasslebaink sent off. My Dad’s mate getting paralytic that evening, trying to break into his son-law’s house and ending up in the nick!
The list could go on!!!!

Everton 3 Leeds 2 (Aug 30, 1969) - My first game and what a game too!
Everton 6 Coventry 0 (Nov 26, 1977) I still think our team that season was the best one that never won anything. I remember Dave Thomas hurtling down the wing towards the end of the game to deliver a sublime cross that gave Bob Latchford a hat-trick!
Everton 6 Chelsea 0 (Apr 29, 1978) - Bob’s 30th and the huge wave in the Paddock when the penalty went in!
Everton 3 Bayern Munich 1 (Apr 24, 1985) - Need I say more? The real Cup Winners Cup Final and a superb comeback! Wish we were as loud as that against the Metallists a fortnight ago!
I’ll leave the younger fans to highlight the more recent games - such as that Man Utd 1-0 win a few seasons ago, Carsley’s free kick against the RS, and AJ’s brace of goals last season (let’s have another one tonight!)

The best time - the FA cup Final ’95. Oh sweet mercy.

We’re forever Everton..........there is us & there is them.

But the best feeling has to be when its a midweek or floodlit game .... your running slightly late ... and just as you get to the top of the stairs z cars breaks in and the crowd come into raptuous applause !! love it :)
37 Posted 04/10/2007 at 17:18:01
1977 First trip to Wembley
1978 Beating Lpool for the first time in 8 years!
1978 Latchford getting his 30 goals, in a 3rd place season with great attacking football.
1984 FA Cup final - a trophy at last!
1985 Champions and Cup winners Cup winners - that wonderful week in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Wembley
1987 Champions again
1995 Hammered Spurs 4-1 in the semi, beat United in the final
Real memories, real joy, real success.
That was then, let’s hope for some more in the future. I genuinely hope that those Evertonians who didn’t experience the above get their deserved chance to see success for themselves one day!

I also ’remember’ a particulary lager fuelled trip to Selhurst Park when Ferguson got the winner courtesy of an Unsworth cross. We went to the boozer right after the game and proceeded to get legless and never made it into Central London. Another one of those nights where a large part of it went missing plus left bereft of mobile phone the next day. Maybe not a game that will go down in the annals but one I remember a) because we usually got fuck all in London and b) Ferguson at his imperious best
Everton 2 LIverpool 0, 1994 season. I seemed to get a bit of luck with the Derby games and this one I went to saw Ferguson and Rideout both net. When Rideout put in the decider, some lad next to me passed me a spliff and I thought why not. Dreamland

Stunning strike against a great team.
