The Mail Bag

Obvious but true

Tonight's match is essentially the biggest of the season; if we win and qualify for the group stages, look at the players we've then got to come back in Gravesen, Cahill, Vaughan, Valente,V an der Meyde, Silva, which gives us a more healthy squad which should be able to handle the games played; lose and I fear we'll self destruct again like last time.

Rumour has it that if we're knocked out tonight two of our recent big contract renewals (MA+TC) have clauses in them which will allow them to leave in January...

I cant stop laughing - clauses that allow them to be transferred in January if we dont progress to the next stage of the UEFA cup?

Of course, of course, what a master stroke by the players themselves (clearly, the UEFA cup is THE competition to be in, and if they leave they can go to another club in europe... oh hang on, they will cup tied for the rest of the year) and for the club too - we sign them up to long term contracts and all it took too persuade them to sign and beat off the rest of europe was to suggest that we need to get through the qualifying round of the UEFA this season.

It beggars belief that there are some people who might believe such utter tripe.

Isn’t it also coincidental that Cahill WILL NOT be cup tied if this scenario was true and technically Arteta is not cup tied at the present moment..

I’m not for one moment saying this rumour is true though

Of course! Timmy injured himself, just so that he could move in january if need be.

Rumour has it, that it was like a scene from the great escape - TC put his leg between the training benches at Bellefield, and our very own yank (rather than sly...or hang on..wasnt he at goodison around the time timmy was injured?!!!) tim howard jumped on it.

Mikky is in on this ruse too - I’ve heard that he wont be playing tonight, the excuse being that he couldnt find his passport and so wasnt on the flight.

This will enable both players to escape their long term contracts in january and go and play for Blackburn, who will be in the later stages of the competition.

Matthew stop terrifying your fellow Evertonians with statements like the one you just made! lol
I think though much like it would if Mikel and Tim were to depart, our season will suffer irrevocably (a la 05-06) if we fail to progress tonite.
PS does anyone know why van der Meyde didnt fly with the squad?
