Disappearing star?

I think Arteta is the best thing to happen to Everton for many a year - but did he turn up last night? Quite rightly, a few players were singled out for poor performances but nobody has mentioned Arteta who was completely anonymous. As someone who watches many away matches, this is not entirely a one off!

Second point, we were 18 minutes away from ignominy last night and I'd have been considering calling for Moyes's head. Instead, I'm ecstatic but the result cannot mask the poor performance. Even leaving aside the poor passing, the tactics, the omission of Baines etc, can someone explain to me why we went through seemingly 4 or 5 formations before eventually stumbling over the finishing line?

I thought Arteta played well in the second half showing his normal composure which had more of a calming influence on our frantic team. There are more players to point the finger at in our team for inept performances way before you get to the best little spaniard I know.

Did anyone even notice that we improved tenfold when Arteta moved into centre-midfield? Not that I’m suggesting we move him there permanently.
