Moyes on the Official Site Today
Comments (17)
This quote is attributed to a certain D Moyes on the official site today:
"I expect David Moyes to have winning teams in Europe and good footballing teams. If you want to be a great leader you need big expectations and I want to be a great leader of a great football club that we are trying to bring back to success."
Was he watching the same UEFA Cup game that I watched?
Discuss!

Craig, Moyes leaves himself open to criticism due to some of the mind blowing team selections he arrives at. In the first leg he decides on 4-3-3 a system we never ever play. Why ? This results in us having to wing it in the second leg and I don’t think it harsh to say we were a bit fortunate.
Some of his substitutions defy belief !.
I do realise that we are missing key players but I also believe that Moyes brings criticism upon himself. And as for Irvine......... Nuff said !

Moyes said on SSN last night,’Oh, my expectations are far greater than those of the fans.’ He can sure say that again but it would help if he picked the right team to start with!

Moyes is clueless on Euro football and tries to be far to clever with his team selection and tactics.Obviously he’s a big fan of the Spanish waiter and is trying to out-rotate him.To pick up craig’s point-yes,he did have Cahill,Graveson and Johnson unavailable but he had a full pack of defenders to pick from and chose the wrong line-up.
Finally, all those who so easily say Arteta is a GREAT player, they should watch him more regularly AWAY from Goodison where he is invariably just ordinary.

The only way Moyes will become better at managing in European competitions is by doing just that. We’re through to the next stage so he’ll have further chances to get that experience. We’ve got some of our best players still to come back and i think, especially given some different team selections, Moyes is more than aware that a top quality right back and central midfielder are his priorities at the next opportunity. In any case, the only way the likes of Hibbert has been exposed at certain times is because the bar has been raised by the rest of the side.
Give Moyes a break and support the team. Whatever you think of him he’s giving us better players to watch and better football than we’ve played in years (it’s not all route one you know, there are many times we’ve played teams off the park, it’s the consistency we’re missing and the size of squad means we struggle when a few are unavailable at present).
I’d rather focus on the fact that my team now boasts a top class international goalkeeper, two of the best young defenders in the division, one of the best and paciest in Yobo, One of the best creative midfielders in the league, three of the best striking talent available plus two of the most exciting young attacking prospects probably in Europe in Vic and Vaughan.
Oh, so much to complain about!

You lads that are panning Moyes for being tactically inept, etc.
How many of you are top level professional football managers ? How many tactically inept managers have finished fourth and fifth in the premiership ?
Exactly.
Just give it a bloody rest, for all of our sakes.

Ok, I lit the touch paper with this one. First of all let me say:
- I am a die hard blue
- I was excited as everyone else when the final whistle blew in Kharkiv
- I am over the moon that we are no longer a trap-door fighting club
- Moyes has done a good job getting us where we are.
- I am an Everton and Moyes supporter
However I was flabbergasted to hear that he believes we are a good footballing team and that is the direction he wants to take us in. Shouldn’t he recognise his own style by now?
Granted, he has tried to buy some skilful players but his teams are still more about graft and power than guile and grace.

FFS Moyes DIDN’T say we ARE a good football team. He said he’s committed to trying to delivery a good footballing team and managing us in Europe on a regular basis. The guy has made i perfectly clear over the years how high his standards are and that’s led to some players being shipped out. In an era where money talks without as much as many others we’re making real progress and have a manager at the helm who finally lives by the club motto.

I really hope moyes wins us a trophy this year because it will stop this constant moaning, it does’nt matter what he does he will be critisized in everything he does, he wants the best for our club and has shown that he can take us to the next level, remember how shit we were when he took over, when cahill, gravesen and vaughan are back our football will improve and don’t forget we are still in the uefa cup, still in the carling cup and if we win tomorrow we could be third in the league, if that is’nt good enough for some people then i don’t know what will, hows about people being a bit optimistic for once instead of posting negative comments everyday of the week

Mark, Moyes says " he’s commited to trying to deliver a good footballing team" Thing is mate,he has had over 5yrs now,and we play some of the shittest football I have seen from an Everton side for a long time. It’s not just this season either, for most of last season we played dire football as well. The only saving grace is that we are winning, but boy,we ain’t pretty to watch.

As he has been posting a lot of pessimistic comments over the last few weeks., I am beginning to wonder if Brian Waring is the new Tony Marsh!!

In the sixties/seventies, the r/s played some "shittie football" but won nearly every game 1-0, Arse were the same, their fans were all dancing all singing, we have the best manager this club has had since HARRY CATTERICK, get over yourselves you moaners, we are getting better and BETTER. GET BEHIND YOUR TEAM, and MANAGER

Oh FFS, I’m sorry I posted this one now.
I am NOT complaining. Just wanted some healthy debate about our footballing standards and what we could expect from a David Moyes team.
I AM a Moyes fan but I just thought he was deluding himself with that comment.
I’ll crawl back into my hole now.

Glen, Discuss what?
Also why would Moyes speak about himself as a third person?
Wires crossed somewhere and nothing really to discuss as f it was his quote, he is simply saying what he would want for us in Europe, nothing more nothing less, nothing much to discuss really

Blue girl,I am as over the moon as the next blue when we win. But what do you want me to say?Moyes is the best thing to ever happen to our great club, and the man is a tactical genius?Or something like, the football we play is some of the best I have ever seen from an Everton team?Thing is,I can’t because it wouldn’t be the truth. The idea of this site is so people can come on and vent some of their frustrations. If we all came on gushing about Moyes, where would the debate come from?
Also,I feel quite humbled to be mentioned in the same breath as the great Marshy.
