Are Everton going to lose every Premiership game directly after a Euro fixture? Newcastle scored their winning goals late on so I'm assuming that Everton legs/minds were tired after Thursday's ordeal.
At least AJ got the off the mark. Surprised Moyes dropped Stubbs ? he played well helping to keep our only two clean sheets this season;, Yobo was awful against Metalist.

We also need to get to January and buy a quality centre midfielder. The midfield is letting us down big time and unless it is sorted in January I predict nothing this year other than midtable obscurity and early exits from the cups.
3 Posted 07/10/2007 at 22:54:18
You’re right about the predictions, Moyes should definitely sort out the defense which he should be able to do. The aim must be tighter defense with less players.

I’d be screaming for him to be dropped if it wasn’t for Stubbs being too old. All respect to Stubbs, pure class, total commitment and heart, just a bit slow and heavy now...
We need something else in the middle, why not let Jag have a go. He cant play worse than he does in midfield and who knows, maybe we will finally find out why he was worth 6M!
So Yobo out, Nev-Les-Jag-Baines; Pace and strength.

The commentator said it was a case of like for like, he could also have said, a piss weak flyweight for an even more piss weak featherweight. There must be places in which Pienar and Osman would not physically be out of their depth but I can?t think of any right now. One thing of which I am sure is that mid field of an EPL game at St. James Park is not one of those places.

Stop blaming players for DM's miserableapproach to the game. I am getting sick at looking at his gormless Gollum-features screaming and shouting at the lads. They can't breath without him yelling ... and you wonder why mistakes are being made. FFS open your eyes will you.

You are totally wrong.Of course the manager?s responsible for those mistakes. They are his players, his tactics, his organisation. As Tony rightly says, if you play the game Moyes way you invite pressure. I think he was a good manger with 11 players playing 4-5-1 that would get you out of the trenches but is now totally out of his depth with quality players and modern tactics that have learned how to beat 4-5-1. I watched other games today and cringed about how good the other so-called poorer teams were compared to us. We play shite so who do you blame for that??

Does it hurt when Everton win Tony? Is that why you always disappear after a victory? Why do you delight in defeat? Don’t you realise how much a defeat hurts us without you rubbing it in?
Question is why do I care? After all Tony Marsh is the guy who claimed last season would fall apart, Lescott was the new Kroldrup, this seasons Euro campaign would never get off the ground and that Yakubu was going to be an Everton legend. That last one may be true for all the wrong reasons.

However, whilst Moyes has to take responsibility for players mistakes, I refuse to focus all my displeasure at him. I will continue to scrutinise Moyes’s tactics, or lack of, but footballers are responsible for the basic stuff. When Yobo failed to mark Owen for the 3rd goal it had fuck all to do with tactics!
Jay Harris - You couldn’t be more transparrent in your anti-Moyes stance, but don’t let that distract you from the fact that individuals aren’t performing either. Individual errors are individual errors and have nothing to do with tactics. I agree that we invite pressure and that increases the opportunity for players to make mistakes.
I blame Moyes for team selection, formation and tactics. I do not blame him for Anichebe missing sitters and Yob failing to pick people up, especially midgets!
Moyes has a lot to answer for and is ultimately responsible for the teams performance and results, but players are payed a lot more than managers in most cases and I feel it is too easy to blame the manager for their shortcomings.
Let’s hope things improve in the next game.

I’m simply bored...we wanted Europe and we are not able to win 2 (I say TWO) matches in a row...even fulham or derby are able to di so, are able to play and win, but not us. We do the homework and nothing else. Which homework? Just saying we are back, we are strong, we’ve got depth, so depth and so strong that we don’t win...boring boring everton...sad to say that but boring boring everton...and in a fortnight we’re having the derby...I haven’t waited for so many years a derby like this...I just want to see if we are really so strong, and have really so depth......boring boring everton............................

Tony,
Moyes has to take some of the blame but I wonder if you’ve been watching any of the last few games because we haven’t been playing as much hoofball. In periods yes but not for whole matches. The problems have been more in the defence and our lack of cutting edge to get through defences.

16 Posted 08/10/2007 at 12:16:07
You want Moyes out, we get it. But you do talk some shite lad
17 Posted 08/10/2007 at 12:31:34
Three or four years ago, Moyes hadn’t had the time or money to build a decent squad of his own. Now he has improved the squad, we have the same problems, win, lose, or draw.
If you disagree, that’s your call, but let’s argue the main points, rather than playground taunting.
By the way, I love it when we win and hate seeing us lose. I keep seeing the same problems in this team, regardless of the results!
18 Posted 08/10/2007 at 12:36:46
A legend? He’ll be gone in January. Awful player.
19 Posted 08/10/2007 at 12:40:30
Who paid £11m for him?
Who bought him without apparently giving a moment’s thought about how we will create chances for him?
How come he scored for fun at Portsmouth and Boro?
Is there a pattern emerging here?
20 Posted 08/10/2007 at 13:02:57
You say Owen always bags a goal against us? From what I can recall he has only ever scored twice against us in about 11 games. Explain that one...
21 Posted 08/10/2007 at 12:55:11
Yakubu is not a running down channels type of player .He gets
no service what so ever because of the tactics and if we was else where he would of been banging them in.How do I know that?Well he has done it at every other club he has been at.Another example is AJ who has scored once since March and what about Beattie? No goals in 2 years under Deadly Dave
and now topping the goals charts
after 3 months at Sheff Utd with 8 in 7 games. You cant tell me all these players arent suffering because of the regime they play under.Slagging off players who are being played out of position
or being made to play in a useless fashion by the managrer. is pathetic. This is no longer Smiths side it DMs and has cost us a right few quid to assemble so blame the manager.Dutch you really are a sycophantic tosser lad.You havent got a clue about football if you think the Kharkiv game was anything ti be proud of.Wait untill Bayern Munich and co have at Moyes and Irvines team. God give me strength

It is clear we invite pressure onto ourselves by hoofing out meaning it comes back at us more often than not and that we do not play to the strengths of our strikers. Yakubu needs to be allowed to play his natural game or we will never see the best of him. As far as I’m concerned he can do sod all for 89 mins if he gets the winner every week.
When Kroldrup left he said
"I still believe I could have done well in The Premiership. But, playing in Italy, there is a lot more emphasis on technical skills. I am used to coaches and fans that like to see you play your way out of trouble and pass the ball to a team-mate."
To me that says it all about Moyes’s tactics and it is clear his defenders mentality is restricting his tactics & vision.
I am not a Moyes hater & do not even believe he should be sacked. He must however realise that we are not fighting relegation anymore & the more you keep the ball & attack the less pressure you put on yourselves & the more likely you are to score & win games. It’s painfully basic & obvious.
Moyes has spent £25m on 3 strikers now (Beattie, Johnson & Yakubu) and they have all scored less than anywhere else under his stewardship. We must be more postive & play to win & build the team around Yakubu.
24 Posted 08/10/2007 at 13:45:24
Sure he can score a goal if you provide him with severall chances but he is not the type of player who is going to fit into the Moyes Everton.
I have no idea what made Moyes think he could use Yakubu, maybe it was desperation because he was the only top-striker available and some fans (like Tony) were demanding he sign someone.
Whatever the reason Moyes royally screwed up.
Tony’s argument that Yakubu really is a good player wasted at Everton is very silly. Have you seen this guy in action?
Yakubu is a bad player, he doesn’t hold the ball very well, he hasn’t got alot of pace and his work-rate is piss-poor.
The Yak’s lack of talent is clear for all to see and has nothing to do with the style of football Everton play.
Andy Johnson is suffering because Everton do not create enough chances but at least he continues to work his socks off and cause problems for oppsosing defenders, something the Yak has so far failed to do.
And your right Tony, this isn’t Smith’s team anymore. What gave it away? The fact that Everton no longer fight relegation or that we are currently a Top 10 Prem side and into the group stages of the UEFA Cup?
