Why this season is so important

Comments (12)

This season is crucial for not only David Moyes but also the club. We have made such enormous strides over the past four or five years, if we embarrass ourselves in Europe, the cups, and don't finish in at least the top 7, we face the possibility of losing Arteta, Cahill, Lescott, and our other ambitious quality players to bigger teams who consistently play in Europe. These guys not only want to play in Europe but deserve to.

Hopefully Moyes can pick up some talent in the transfer window (Fernandes on loan?) and we can fix this impending train wreck of a season. 10th place is not good enough, no matter what stage of the season we're in.

On the subject of Everton managers im sure anyone over 30 connected with this club can remember the time around Christmas ’83 when we were sixteenth in the old division one and everybody from the toffee lady to margaret thatcher were calling for howards head. THAT Oxford game and a few months later and we had won the fa cup. Another twelve months and we were within touching distance of the treble. of course the success was short lived but it actually happened all the same. Im not saying that moyes is the messiah and we are going to repeat those feats but given time he can at least try to duplicate some of the success we had. And yes, losing the likes of arteta would be a massive blow. He may love Everton but a player of his calibre would not fancy annual finishes of ninth place, a league cup last 16 or a quarter final fa cup place. Its imperative that we consolidate at least this season and go for at least a uefa cup place. lets not all expect to much.

agree with seamus with regards to fernandes, we missed our chance to sign him and it looks like we really could do with him in our team, i doubt we will ever see fernandes in a blue shirt again.

as for the uefa cup draw i think we’ve got a decent group and can definitely qualify, roll on two decent away trips that our fans can enjoy and they deserve two good away trips.

Train wreck of a season? What planet do you live on Jimmy? Oh, you’re in the States, sorry.

We’re only 3 points behind about 5th place I think, hardly a train wreck waiting to happen. We’re in the UEFA cup proper, and have a very good draw from where I’m sitting. We have a break now so some of our injured players can get fit, meaning the bigger squad will finally come into effect (something that so far this season we haven’t had)

I’m bored of reading the same miserable view from Evertonians on here; why cant some of you try being a bit more optimistic? Try getting behind the team/manager/club as a whole and maybe we’ll have more chance of getting somewhere. A positive winning mentality from the fans down to the players is the way forward. Not getting at them because you think we’re struggling. The Internet has given you a voice, use it wisely.

Just a thought Mr Crack...are not the likes of Atreta, Cahill and Lescott responsible for us reaching said dizzy heights??? Me thinks our destiny is in their own hands!
Although I love him to bits and still believe he is our best player by a mile...Arteta has been a little off form this term.
Agree Seamus, forget Fernandes.
Loving the look of the group stage and can’t wait to find out where I’m travelling to next.

Get in there, I fly out to Vegas for the Hatton fight on the sixth, I thought the Euro game would have been the Thurday.

Made up it is the Wednesday so I can get to go to it now.

dave

zenit are joint top of the league with spartak moscow who have a better goal difference, they are a very good side and i think there managed by dick advocaat (someone correct me if im wrong) it will be a tough game just glad we play them at home because to be honest they would stuff us away.
