I have been a season ticket holder at our beloved blues for over 20 years; I was there in the 80s to watch the last Everton side who played true football the way it should be played.
We all adhere and dream that our side could play like Arsenal do now, and have done for the last 10 years... some may say it is impossible to achieve, but look at Man City, many people's outside tip for the drop this season. I know they have spent but with the right coaches there they have been superb and also play great football as well.
Now correct me if I am wrong but as a season ticket holder we love grit, heart and battle at Everton... but enough is enough, we have overdosed on this now. Everton fan's will be happy as long as a player give's 110%, how many times have you heard that over the year's?...
What shite, how the fan's standard's have dropped if this is the case.
If City can do it, so can we, but under the current coaching regime i know it won't happen....bring back the flair, bring back the ball on the floor, bring back the football. I write in vague hope and total despair...

The thing is though Mick we can play good football like Man City are now but the stumbling block is that we cant do it while David Moyes and Alan Irvine are in charge. They have both been here far too long now to change the way we play. This is their style of play and its completely Moyes team and they are his players playing footballl obviously the way he likes. Being a Scottish defender in his playing career its simple to see that merely clearing the ball down field is enough to please Moyes and all thought of good fast attacking football has dissapeared. The question is how long can we keep hold of our good attacking footballers such as Mikel Arteta?. He must surely get fed up of having to carry the can regarding creativity. I dont think we could ever play the game as well as Arsenal do but as we have stated Man City have turned the tables in the space of a few months so why we never improve is only down to the choice of the manager.

To be fair, Man City did spend a lot of money this summer on foreign players more comfortable on the ball. Maybe that’s Moyes downfall, he does seem to look for a good work ethic first and foremost in his players (Yakubu apart!), with technical ability coming second.
As Ray says, Moyes will never change his ways. I’ve always been a fan of his (Moyes not Ray!) but I am becoming fed up watching the blues. Talk amongst the fans at the start of the season was of this squad being the strongest we’ve ever had, yet I’ve not really enjoyed one single home game this season. Our best performances have been on the road.
I don’t expect us to play free flowing attacking football (I’ve never actually seen Everton play this way!) but I would like to see ball retention, creativity in the final third and good service to our strikers.

Our current midfield is not good enough to play that type of football. If we tried to play like Arsenal we’d get twatted because other teams are better at that than us. Moyes has Everton playing to their strengths - people seem to think that 5 yrs on a miniscule budget (compared to teams around us) is long enough to turn our club round from 10 years of premiership laughing stock to world beaters, well it’s not. Gary Speed can see it, Big Sam can see it, Alan Stubbs can see it - but Tony Marsh can’t. I know who I’m listening to.

Once again the Man City comparrison, why?
The man was an International manager and one of teams that one the league abroad, has spent over £50 million in the close season.
What is the point of comparing him to Moyes, the same with Coppell last season with Reading, they had a great start, also O’Neil with Villa the year before, unbeaten in the first 10 or so games.
Irrelevant post as Moyes is not Sven and does not have the resources of Sven. If Sven lost 2 or 3 influential players in midfield would Man Citteh play as well?, in fact would any other team, Look at the Shite they are not exactly playing attractive football at the moment without Alonso and Gerrard being off colour are they.
Give it a rest for fooks sake

Every year one team does better than expected (at least for a while) and every year the manager of that side is hailed as proof that Moyes isn’t up to the job and every year, at least in my humble opinion, it is complete cobblers!

Tony Horne - Good shout. Reading and Steve coppell were the example last year and Wigan and Paul Jewell the year before - doing it consistenly is the key.

Heres another thought on David Moyes though..Its often been said that he can get the best out a bad bunch of players...But what I would like to know now is can he get the best out of a good quality bunch of players?. Arteta aside I think Moyes does limit our better players from expressing themselves..Ok now before anyone starts Yakubu is a very lazy player which Moyes knew may I state before signing him but for goodness sake he has finished second only to Thierry Henry in the top scorer charts for four seasons running and his goal record has been inpressive. He scored three hat-tricks in his career at Portsmouth. I know its early days but it looks as though he could become another Beattie, and Beattie being another player who scored goals for fun before signing for us. Lets see Moyes blend together a team of good footballers and move Everton forward on a consistent basis. We know under Moyes we are a bit of a yoyo team in terms of good season bad season but he must succeed in bringing good football back to the club now that he has spent a small fortune in the last two and half years..We would like to see a little entertainment more often.
