Duncan, Duncan Ferguson!

Does anyone out their have any idea what Duncan Ferguson is up to these days?
I know a lot of people don't care too much for the big man, over-rated, injury prone etc, but I grew up idolising Dunc, at a time when heroes where thin on the ground.
I often read football autobiographies (most of them dire) but if one person should write a book it should be him.
I heard a roumour a while ago he may be going to play in Australia but since then nothing.
There is a Duncan MySpace site but I doubt if it really is him (especially as purple aki is listed as one of his friends, how random is that?).
Well, hopefully somebody out their can let us know what he's up to nowadays. Duncan, not Purple Aki.

Some may have been frustrated by the Big Man's latter years at Goodison — impending age, undiagnosed injuries, hoofball tactics, etc — but I doubt you'll find many Evertonians who "dont' care too much" for him. The more time goes on, the more affection I seem to have for him — just watching old clips of his early days in the mid-to-late 90s is enough to make you realise what a formidable player he was when he was on the top of his game.
I don't know what he's up to these days, though.

Sorry, I can’t answer your question, but last summer due to my utter surprise, I saw the great man in Windsor Castle of all places!!! I have always been a big fan of Fergie and managed to get a picture of him with my little boy who is also a big fan (but got told off by a staff member as you shouldn’t take pics within the castle!). I put Ferguson down as the best player over the last 15 years at Goodison and on top of his game was unplayable and one of the best in the country. Great man and great player.

I attended a recent signing session with the Big man and he is in the process of moving to spain with his family.
What great memories he gave us though.

Same thing he did when he was at Everton, stayed at home feeding the pigeons and beating up burglars!

I heard he’s in Majorca too.
I also heard he has a season ticket and takes his son (who can’t be very old).
Surely he doesn’t fly in for every game?
Eitherway, the bug fella never did anything by halves did he?

I too idolised the mighty Duncan. I probably saw the best of him in the early nineties but he was always a formidable opponent. He was also one of the few players that even Wimbledon players would not go near. Even the ’orrible Vinnie Jones stayed clear !

The arguments about whether the guy is an Everton legend may rage on but the fact remains that for many many Blues a vast amount of their favourite Everton moments include the guy. Injuries weren’t his fault. OK, the suspensions were laregely his fault (aside from a number of cards because of who he was) but let’s face it, he did what the fans wanted to do themselves on a number of occasions!
I for one idolise the guy as he created many of the moments that i look back upon as key to my upbringing.
Whatever he’s doing i hope he’s happy and i sure hope that i meet him one day.

Nobody plays as passionate as Duncan in our current team now..really misses him.
Saw the replay of the 1995 finals vs Utd, loves the way he terrorised their defence.

John I couldnt agree more, can you remember the derby where he threw Ince to the floor like a ragdoll? Or the time he had to be held back from murdering that twat Mcateer? Ho ho good times, in a sick way, I enjoyed his moments of madness like these more than his goals sometimes.

Probably fronting crimewatch, or heavily involved in Neighbourhood watch.
I had to laugh when I read about those burglars who broke into his house and he tore them a new one ha ha ha.
I mean come on who in their right mind would burgle Big Dunc’s house.
Big dunc EFC legend!

Big Dunc will always live in my heart and memory. I cried when he was sold to Newcastle because he would no longer terrorise the Red Shite - they were scared of him and I knew when he was playing against them, anything could happen.
He really loved our Club - who else would have had an Everton tattoo as he did on his arm. Great man - great memories.

I can honestly say that when Big Dunc scored a goal the excitement I felt was amazing.
For some reason a Big Dunc goal was extra special and I never felt that kind of excitement with any other player.
Certainly I don’t feel as excited when AJ or Yakubu score.
Maybe it had something to do with Big Dunc just loving the club as much as the supporters.

Can’t Duncan do a last game for us next time we play ManU? First score the winner, then beat the sh** out of Rooney in the dying minutes.
Would be priceless! :-)

As has been said here, if only some of our current players showed the commitment and passion for the Club as Dunc did. Don’t get me wrong, there were game where he coudn’t be arsed, but they were outnumbered by the other ones and when he decided to get stuck in, he did it with style !!
I hope whatever he and his family do goes well cos all our thoughts are with him, a true legend and personality we miss.

Remember that very valid goal he got for us in the Champions’ League against Villa Real which was disallowed - still think that was a fix so there wouldn’t be 5 English clubs in the Champions League - it’s a wonder he didn’t grab Collina around the throat!!

I was in traflagar square last week and despite the mass of pigeons i saw no sign of the man. Ferguson himself is of a ubiquitous nature so its hard to say where he could be. from barlinnie to bournemouth the great mans whereabouts remain a mystery.
I will always remember his joining, albeit on loan with ian durrant in 1994 under mike walker. His move became permanent, and in between a brief spell in stir, played a major part in us winning the fa cup. Also wins against the shite across the park in Joes first game and the win against his namesakes other rubbish just after cantonas well publicised antics at selhurst park. Also - That game on new years days 96 at wimbledon. must have been a quiet hogmanay in the Ferguson house! Countless other memories but i still think he departed a year early. A bit of a loose cannon like other greats like gascgoine and best but that always makes them more noted and crowd favourites. thanks for the service big man.

My favorite goal the second time around is the mid-week one against United when Watson won a challenge against Ronaldo and there is a shot of Dunc pointing to the top of his head kind of quietly righ before the kick....Arteta flights it in, Dunc shoves Rio out of the way and it’s like 10 years evaporate in an instant...I watch that goal at least once a month. I still want to know what the supporter said to G. Neville that got him to fire the ball into the first row and get sent off....great match.

In 2001, Ferguson was the victim of a burglary attempt by two men at his then home in Rufford, Lancashire. Ferguson confronted the pair and was able to detain one of them who subsequently spent three days in hospital. The second man managed to flee but was eventually caught. Both men were sentenced to fifteen months imprisonment for their actions. Later because of their actions, both men won an "Honorable Mention" from the Darwin Awards.[4
The above award is for sheer stupidity

Whilst he may not have been the most prolific player we have ever had he certainly made up for in passion.
Who can forget the night he terrorised rio ferdanand and made him look like the pile of shite he is

As much as I dislike Rangers and the Orange order (being a celtic - evertonian ),
I absolutely idolised the man mountain that was Duncan Ferguson, a total enigma and a real player of the game on the pitch as well as off the pitch, the way he refused to speak to the press and shunned the limelight like these fancy dans of nowadays proves that he is a guy cut from the cloth that the players of yesteryear were, a true great that played with 110%, jeez Duncan you would have made a great GAA ( gaelic football ) player if only you werent a hun!

There was always an extra buzz around a match when Big Dunc was around. Anything could happen - and I mean ANYTHING! Very much his own man, on and off the pitch. A lot of good memories - and a few frustrating ones. Never forgets how he terrorised ManU - and scored the winner - when we beat them 1-0 in 2005 in a floodlight match at Goodison...

I don?t support any football team, but I loved Duncan Ferguson, and when I heard that story about the burglars... well, it still brings a smile to my lips even now. What a TRULY GREAT MAN. Great Scot indeed!
