Portuguese Evertonian

Born Portuguese, 38 years old, still married, 2 kids, dentist as a job, Vitória Guimarães fan and Everton FC mad.

Why do I support EFC? Simple... 1984. Magic team I will never ever forget. The likes of Southall (the best ever), T Steven, Reid, Sharp, Gray, and so on. But it was not only that, I mean, they really impressed me, the footbal, but on that time, a 15 years kid decide to write to EFC and ask for a souvenir...and surprise they did write me back. And then I learn the history of the blues. it was a love afair. Everton FC is more then a football club. It's passion, devotion, but also style, tradition, being the best. Just the sound of saying Everton FC is awesome.

And back to nowadays. I support the blues since then, 23 years of ups and downs. Myths like Duncan Ferguson. I will never forget the goal of Ferguson, the header, against the rats. The goal of Rideout in the 1995 FA Cup Final. The agony against Wimbledon. yes it's true we had more downs then up's, but we still are arond aren't we? We will be back a force in England... I've been at Goodison twice with my friend Jimmy Burns. Magic, absolutly magic. Now i intend to somowhere in the future go with my kid to watch EFC, still at Goodison. I follow the blues by Internet, first it was the very fun WSAG, then the Evertonian, now the site of EFC. I have home shirts, books, pieces taken from newspapers, tickets, scarfs, videos, CD's, you name it.

I love EFC, I really do, they are part of my life. I hope against the rats I can watch the game on TV. Wearing my blue shirt, scarf and a big big flag of EFC. Love to you all fellow Blues. Portugal.

hello there Vasco, nice to hear that the Blues have a true follower in sunny Portugal and a nice story about the Blues from a time when football clubs really seemed to care about their supporters.
best wishes.

Hi Vasco , great comments , you have " the Bug " that certain something that affects all Evertonians everywhere , as it’s said .... Those who know , understand . Those who don’t , Don’t matter .
It gets us through the bad times and speaking for myself when the good times come along I wonder why people are surprised , I’ve always known we’re the greatest TEAM on Earth and i’m mystified when it’s only us blues who can see that .!! Oh by the way , were going to hammer the team from the dark side again next week
Best wishes , Vasco

Vasco, lovely to read how you feel about Everton. When you look back on games and the great players who played in them it does sometimes brings a lump to your throat. Dean, T G Jones, Lawton,Labone,Ball,Kendall.,Harvey,Cattrick,Southall we could all go on and on .Wouldnt it be great if a far off billionaire joined us and shared in the future of this footballing institution.

Vasco, you are obviously a gentleman of taste and discernment. You have elected to suffer a lifetime of heartbreak but have the consolation of coming from one of the most beautiful cities in Europe ( in my humble opinion ). Keep the faith.
