The People

Reading todays People, and I come across a few articles about Everton players. Apparently, West Ham are to make a £12 million bid for AJ in January and a whole host of teams around Europe including Chelsea, Real Madrid, Valencia, Villarreal, Newcaslte and Tottenham are all keen on signing our ' £12 million rated' Mikel Arteta.

First of all, who do Tottenham and especially Newcaslte think they are? Do they really believe that if he wanted to leave Everton he would go to them? Second of all, do they really believe that Everton will sell their best player for £12 million? And finally, Man City are checking out John Paul Kissock but it will take at least 3 million for Everton to consider...

On the one hand, why believe anything written in a redtop ? on a Sunday, especially? On the other hand, I believe Newcastle stole Emre and Parker from Davey's grasp, so what would stop them from making a move on our best players (if such a thing was actually allowed)? The journos just love making up this stuff, but it never gets a mention in the more reputable press.

The People constantly make up stories about AJ.
Kissock isn’t even on the market so how can they make up a price.
Arteta is a quality player but Chelsea havent got a manager, Grant isn’t confirmed as manager and a new manager may want other players.
The tabloids linked us with 2 players I have never heard of from Metz and Grasshoppers.

Oh come on John, in a Boro’s fans eyes, who did Everton think they were with a bid for the Yak?? And he did come in the end. Have we not been linked with the likes of, as Michael says, Parker, Emre etc..and even Owen and Alan Smith in the past??. Im sure some rival clubs’ fans would think why would that player want to come to Everton (and most of them haven’t...)

Football is football. There is nothing special about us in the PL, likewise for Tottenham and Newcastle. Its a market out there and chances are the pay cheque will do the talking more than the football. A reality check please!

I’d love to comment but it’s Missus L’s turn for the complementary Birkenhead sausage tonight so sadly with gritted teeth I have to go.

As much as I would like to agree with you Michael I can’t !
It would appear that AJ sought assurances regarding his place in the first team and Moyes told him that he could not guarantee his place.
As for Arteta, perhaps he is getting tired of the crap football we are playing ? Or being the only creative midfielder we have ? Or perhaps just tired of all of the broken promises regarding the quality players we are/were going to sign !

You just better believe that AJ’s agent is feeding stories to the red tops in the hope that his man can get a January move from Goodison. He believes that Moyes has seriouslly pissed off AJ by frequently changing tactics and strike partners.London is the preferred option.
