Young Guns

I have just read a report that Citeh are making a £3 mil bid for John Paul Kissock. I really hope this isn't true because I really rate this lad. I can see the attraction of accepting £3 million for a young player not proven on the big stage but if you look at the fact we have just forked out £4 mil for Jags and a possible £6 mil for Barton we should really be thinking twice about this potential midfield general.

I think its just paper talk, why would city pay all that money for a untried player many kids look good coming through the ranks only to disappoint(Branch,Cadamatri)not that I think thats going to happen with kissock but its a risk they would wait until hes played in the prem

Take the £3m if its actually there. Kissock has same attributes as Osman and unfortunately the same deficiencies - he’s just too small to cut it at Premiership level. How many times have we said Osman doesnt have the physical strength when the tough games come around , Kissock will be the same.

The three young hopefuls I hear are Rodwell Baxter and Agard.
I was told Kissock is too lightweight and has a seriously inflated ego.
However having said, how many players have been dumped too soon for being lightweights, weren’t Keegan and McManaman deemed lightweights. I suppose Alan Ball and Billy Bremner would be dumped for the same reason nowadays.
We have to remember this isnt the NFL or the NBA, skill will always win out over brawn. Georgie Best wasnt the biggest bloke around but he could handle himself against any yard dog fullback who tried to scythe him down.
We have enough defensive midfield types to play alongside a playmaker more lightweight player and Moyes tends to play his lighter players wide midfield instead.

Have I missed something....when did we fork out £6mil for Barton ??...Has far as Kissock goes can’t really comment as I haven’t seen him play. However I do believe that in this day and age if you are a player of his age who is going to make an impression in the Premiership you should already be a regular first team squad member a la Vaughan & Anichebe...As Kissock in not I don’t expect him to play many games for Everton.

I assume this came about because JP Kissock had a really good game against Man City Reserves last week. I also assume it’s bullshit

Nelly what a wonderful insight into the complex and dynamic issue of growth and maturation. By the way how old was Osman before he became a first team player? Beckham, Lampard and Gerrard were all 18 before they got a game in the premiership and were all 19 turning 20 before they became regular players.

Roy Keane was turned down and considered a lightweight by several English clubs at the age of 17. If the kid is good keep him.

Ask yourself, would you sell Giggs, Scholes, Beckham for £3M? We don’t need the money as much as we need a next generation of Vaughans & Anichebes!

JP will never be a midfield general.

He’s either a second striker or a winger
