Thanks to a traitor (Rooney) conceding a penalty and a red shite (Gerard) wasting the easiest chance to score in history, England probably won't qualify for Euro 2008. Why the hell is it then that it is Phil Neville who gets booed all the time by the fans? It's not as if this is the first time Rooney has let down his country and I am sure that if that other red shite Carragher had been playing he would have chipped in with one of his customary own goals to make it 3-1.

I was thinking I could at least follow McFadden and Scotland until true to their history they once again do the hard bit then choke against a joke team. Oh well... I guess I can spend all of the next summer waiting for Moyes to make some intelligent transfer dealings.

That's the trouble with football: always a chance that you might lose. It's just not fair, is it? Thankfully I'm one who took no interest in it whatsoever. I think was having a rather nice South African wine with my bacon-wrapped scallpos and apple/walnut/stilton salad. Yummy!

christ grow up.

rooney scored the goal which put us 1 up [what a goal it was too !] and he fouled the player outside the box, it just shows how bitter you must be to blame him for england going out. yes gerrard missed a sitter but believe it or not their were 9 other players out there who you failed to level any blame towards...

plus you seem to forget the biggest problem is with mclaren.

as i said, grow up...you just make yourself look bad and posts like these get everton fans labelled bitter...and rightly so.

I thought England played well actually. I their defending was good until the last 20 mins when they seemed to collapse but it was looking like a really good away smash n grab performance until then. England have a history of shooting themselves in the foot but for once I was actually pleased by 70 mins of the performance. It’s still not over and Israel aren’t that easy to beat at their place. Also, why the hell are talking about England on an Everton forum...

James B....good call, mate. I, too, am not Shrek’s biggest fan, but he can hardly be held responsible. Neither can Rat Boy. Lets face it, It would have been Heskey missing several sitters if he’d played!

If we’re on the subject of lambasting individuals, it has to be said that our own Jolean Lescott has hardly looked international class in an England shirt, yet we all know how brilliant he has been for us this season.

The plain truth is that we (England) will win nothing with the current management team. It may be a blessing that non-qualification will mean that his position will be untenable and a replacement will be sought.

God, how I hate it when we don’t qualify for a finals. I know we wouldn’t win it, but it’s nice to have a little hope for a couple of weeks every 2 summers!

I’m just glad the internationals are out the way now so we can concentrate on the REAL big game of the week...the derby! It was the same before the Goodison derby last season, England international spoiling the build up to one of the best games of the season! Some of the players will only get one full days worth of training to prepare for this game, same on both sides I know, but still not on.

Although last seasons games didn’t turn out too bad did it? >:-p

England failures, class wars, slating the RS; this thread has it all!

Lescott has looked shit in his 2 games for England. He’s copped it big time in my office from non Evertonians, or ’everyone’ as I like to call them.

You can’t blame anyone for losing last night, thats football, you win some, you lose some. Apportioning blame doesn’t help anyone whether it be in football or life, its purely negative which is something they don’t subscribe to, unlike you lot and one of the reasons why they’re professional footballers and you lot are office workers who whinge on the Internet all day.

Wakey wakey!

PS I’m not a preofessional footballer due to an unhealthy interest in pubs and loose women as a younger man.

9   Posted 18/10/2007 at 10:05:47

Let’face it ,Lescott was culpable for both Russian goals. For the first,he got skinned, leaving Rooney to take the responsibility of stopping the attacker whilst for the second he was as much to blame as Ferdinand.
Evertonians should stop seeing our players through blue-tinted glasses-they make mistakes like everyone else and recently Lescott has made more than most!
Steve L
10   Posted 18/10/2007 at 10:14:19

He didn’t get skinned for the first one. He was trying to tackle the player who played the ball through, hardly skinned. The midfield didn’t help by getting in the way and performing no useful function.

For the second the player who allowed the shot was a much to blame and the Robinson for putting it back into the danger zone. Lescott was just beaten to it by the forward

11   Posted 18/10/2007 at 10:24:06

In fairness to Rooney [and I’m not a lover of him neither], the tackle was OUTSIDE the box and a penalty should never have been given and he did score a cracking goal for England.

If anyone is to blame it’s Stevie for missing such an easy chance and virtually had he scored England would probably have gone on to win the game.

and..... if I am really honest, I don’t think our Joleon played all that well neither, and I do love him!!

Who honestlly gives a sh*t about England?

I hate everything about England - the small town/club supporters, the media, the gobsh*te players Rooney, Gerrad etc).

Ini fact, I’d rather players like Lescott didn’t get in the team because no doubt the likes of Cole, Terry, Lampard are in his ear about how great Chelsea is etc.

Everton first all the way.

Let the southerners and small club fans worry about Ingurland

13   Posted 18/10/2007 at 09:59:07

please be careful what you say about the scots. If we can beat france home and away than a home tie against the italians is is not that daunting. The hampden crowd will be intimidating as always, and besides as for your mash eating rabble dont worry. All you have to do is hope that the soviets cant beat israel and andorra!. Pretty simple math.
I did enjoy last nights antics in moscow and gerrard missing a cows ass with a banjo made it all the more enjoyable. Im really going to miss next years usual two yearly indigenous asinine english flag waving, and red and white rubbish left right and centre. Dont get me wrong, im not anti english but i get fed up every two years with all the media nonsense and the usual idiots and morons i have to put up with during the tournament. The only drawback of no england appearance, I wont get to see them lose on penalties or fall flat on their faces like every two years. it would have been almost worth the wait. Never mind.
Richard Cannon
14   Posted 18/10/2007 at 10:30:02

Was it Lescott’s positional sense that let him down or was he told to play there? Hiddink has been quoted as saying that he out did McClaren tactically. "You could see in the first half that we had two strikers and they were playing with Lescott rather inside as a central defender with Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell, so in the first half we had a lot of space on the right side and so we could penetrate there; although our attacking was not fine-tuned we still had that threat. That was why I changed it at half-time; they were vulnerable that side. And I like making Joe Cole a left full-back: you get rid of one of their attackers. That is why we could damage them."
Although I think Lescott wasn’t rock solid best and looked hesitant, I believe that it was McClarens ineptitude (hoof tactics) that let England down.

16   Posted 18/10/2007 at 10:36:58

Sitters are missed every game, should Robinson have saved the shot not parried out the second goal, should our own Lescott reacted to the rebound quicker than the Russian, should England have beaten Macedonia at home, should Robinson let the Croatian goal go in when he missed the ball, should the referee given the Rooney foul outside the area as contact was out of the box, should England have given the job to an unproven manager in the first place, should we allow as many foreigners into our football as we do to make the pool of players much smaller we have to choose from.
You can go on and on blaming people at the end of the day we are not good enough thats the reason.
Tony Hawkins
17   Posted 18/10/2007 at 10:36:41

Lescott DID look out of his depth during the 2 games he’s played BUT the back four has looked shakey right along the line. Yes, Campbell played well and put in some great tackles however both the centre backs looked pretty shakey too. Ferdinand wasn’t his usual unflappable self and Campbell seemed unsure most of the time.

Moving up the field, where did Barry and Owen go? Second half and Lampard went missing not to mention Downing (did either of them even touch the ball?) SWP’s seemed to be having a poor day (was it coz his dad wasn’t watching?).

Surely Robinson is not the best England ’keeper we have? Not that does not mean David James should step up!!

At least one positive came out of it - that’s the best I’ve seen Rooney play for England in a LONG time and he looked almost back to his previous determined self.

My mistake, apologies Brian. I read it wrong, but in any case, why do you hate small clubs and their supporters? Thats whats wrong with footballs today, its all about being the biggest and the best - what happened to supporting your team regardless of size or success?

To you and Tony - people want to talk about the England game because its topical. This may be an Everton site, but its quite reasonable to talk about football generally. If you dont like it, dont read it, just go to another thread. No offence, but people have the right to talk about yesterdays game and the website guys clearly dont mind or they wouldnt have published the thread in the first place.

Do us a favour and don’t mention that Judas Traitor on this site. "Fat little knobhead" as us Gwladys Street faithful like to refer to him, should have no indirect or direct link to anything everton-related. He is motivated by two things, money and appearing in the OK magazine, and he is the only person and player in history that I wish would fail in everything he does. And everytime he does fail, it brings me happiness. "Bitter" yeh thats me, no player is bigger than this club, but Mr Rooney thought he was. Long may he fail to live up to all that potential.

England f**ked up a year ago. Qualifying should not of come down to last night. We should of been in a position where if we lost it wouldnt of mattered. Anyway England is over - now its back to the really important stuff.

Alan, if you think you’re a better defender than Lescott, I suggest you put that in writing to the manager, we could do with a better defence this year. What is your background in football? Any evertonians with england team allengencies should remember that since Gary Lineker (1986) our players have been constantly overlooked up until the last year or so. Of course there was unsworth getting a cap in the Umbro Japan tournament or whatever it was but thats not really significant enough. Its not that they saw us as not big enough to contribute to the national team but maybe over the past 15/20 years we have had more welsh/scots/irish /others on our books. See southall, horne,mcCall.Sharp, carsley, sheedy etc, the list is endless. I will be shedding no tears if the national team does not make the plane to swiitzerland, even better that johnson, lescott and others that are picked can stay here and concentrate on what really matters - trophies in our cupboard. I want to see Everton football club win (silverware)- not abject false dawn performances from a national side. Domestics come first.

Brian - I support Everton funnily enough. Its true that alot of the trouble makers support smaller clubs, and that the majority of ’rows’ at football these days happens in the lower leagues so you’re right about that. Your comments just looked a bit like you blame the England team for that. Its hardly their fault that the knuckle grazers follow our national team. I agree with you mate; everything about England and its followers stinks, but I still support them and Everton. I do increasingly fine myself wanting to support the blues more though.

Okay guys ... calm down, calm down!!!

Personally its Celts like William Wallace that get up my nose. I support whichever team from G.B. is in any European/World Cup Competition. You want to try living in Wales - they want the English to fail in everything - mind you they are crap at football and rugby too nowadays, so they can’t say much but they do like to see us fall in whatever we do not only football and that, Mr. Wallace is what’s wrong with you, you should support all four GB teams. I support Scotland and think its terrific what Fadders has done for your side so you support Lescott, Johnson or Phil Neville if they play for England. I agree that I would rather they didn’t play as they always get injured somehow - take young Vaughan for instance and the Club pays the Price. Everton first in my book.

As an Everton fan, perhaps Russia's win last night is not such a bad thing. Or to put it another way, Guus Hiddinks first ever win against English opposition. Just glad his first win did not come against the Toffees in this years Uefa Cup. On a seperate note, perhaps we are closer to seeing the back of McClaren as England manager.
Chris Masey
47   Posted 18/10/2007 at 13:15:52

Watching England lose in Russia was great entertainment for me. Ferdinand, Gerrard, Fat Little Nobhead, etc. All those overpaid bastards failing, not finding enough passion, pride or ability to get a result.

?It?s the Pitch? they say, or ?its Mclaren, we need Mourinho!? someone bellows, and ? it wasn?t a penalty, we were robbed!?, a fat English thug shouts as he leaves the stadium, and contemplates going back to his Brentford season ticket.

So why is it then, when I sit down to watch the England Rugby team potentially achieve the biggest sporting achievement against all odds, will my adrenalin be pumping? I think the answer is, in Rugby terms, I am not committed to any club. Which brings me on to my overall point.

When it comes to Football, Everton will rule my interest, desires and passion. I would prefer none of the current squad to be in that embarrassment that impersonates the national side, and stay fit for Everton. Yet, several commentators on this site seem to care what happens to our national side.

So I hereby declare, I would take three points in any game for Everton, over any positive outcome for England. This Saturday is a far bigger game in my life than that joke that graced our screens last night. And for christs sake, stop having a go at Lescott, because when I reach my seat for saturdays game, ?there is only one Jolean Lescott?. Thank god the football I want, is returning, because as you can see from my earlier comment, I am turning to Rugby, because the international football is so depressing!

May I be the first to say here that Andrei Arshavin looks absoloute class. He tore the England defence apart with his dribbling and electric pace. He made Richards look like an overweight snail. I have emailed the club and told them to scout him because I think he is the new Kanchelskis.

The worrying thing is that he plays for our Uefa cup opponents Zenit and I do worry when he comes up against Hibbert we will be dismantled. David Moyes, buy this lad!!
