Battle of the Tinkermen

Comments (5)

These days, Merseyside can well claim to have the two most enthusiastic `Tinkermen` in the Prem.

Benitez claims he does it because he needs to rest his `galactico` players and adjusts his formation to negate the opposition`s tactics. With Moyes, I suspect it`s more because he doesn`t know his best team or, more likely, he doesn`t know his own mind! Certainly he`s no tactical genius ? his inventiveness began and ended with 4-5-1 and it will be interesting to see how he sets out his troops on Saturday.

I suspect that if Cahill were available we should see a return to a five-man midfield with McFadden ploughing a lone role up front. As it is, I expect to see more of the nonsence of Neville playing in midfield, probably supported this week by Carsley. Benitez may again `dis` us by leaving out Gerrard and other `stars` and, hopefully will pay the price.

All I can say is that neither of these luminaries seem to know what they are doing half the time so, in that respect this Goodison Derby is a pure lottery!

Moyes does fustrate me, we need to play Neville at RB. It has to be the following line up for me:
Howard
Neville
Yobo
Lescott
Baines
Carsley
Cahill
Arteta
Pienaar
Yakubu
Anichebe

I would leave McFadden on bench as Anichebe is more physical- and this will be a physical game, and the Yak must play- its only a matter of time before he starts firing - he is a poacher !

What are you on about moyes being a ’Tinkerman’. He can not be put near benitez in terms of messing with his team or resting his best players when they are fit. When moyes best players are fit and playing well he will play them. Crouch scores two goals one week and isn’t even in the squad the next. If any Everton striker gets a goal they are rewarded for it.
Battles of the tinkermen my balls.

Knowing Moyes, it will likely be:

Howard
Hibbert
Yobo
Stubbs
Lescott
Arteta
Carsley
Neville
Pienaar
Cahill
Yakubu

I would really like to see:

Howard
Neville
Stubbs
Lescott
Baines
Arteta
Carsley
Gravesen
Pienaar
McFadden
Anichebe

SUBS:

Wessels
Yobo
Osman
Yakubu
Cahill

Anyway, regardless of who is named to play, I hope the crowd gets 100% behind them to ensure victory. Even ordinary players can achieve extra-ordinary feats when they feel the crowds support (a la McFadden for Scotland).

I suspect that Tim Tim and Vaughany will play a big part on Saturday , DM knows that these two will both be up for the game as much as anyone and could hopefully get an hour out of them both to put the RS to siege , with Tim inthe team , Mikel will perform to his best and with Vaughany’s youthful exuberance he will make it a nightmare for hypiaa , so if you count tis as tinkering , then tinker on David........ !!!!

Watch Liverpool go all out for a penalty and it will depend on which Referee is in charge of the game, whether we get a fair shout or not.

Hope the supporters will act as 12th man and really get behind the players and not on their backs and support McFadden, if he plays, in particular.
