The Mail Bag

A glimmer......

At least twice now I have paid homage / tribute to one 'Joleon Lescott' without any reiteration or backup?? Instead I got a load of people trying to disect or argue the toss of my other views? So with no other views on offer.....

Once again I state (even before today's display & the goals )... the best young professional in the country with an excellent attitude. And fortunately for us he's for the blue cause as opposed to his own pocket.

Jump on the band wagon & salute this boy & hope for similar signings.... Daveys going nowhere so lets pick out the positives :) I know it can be hard sometimes. Another game, another ref & we'll maybe start to get the results we deserve? COYB

I hate to wade in on anyone after today's massive setback, as we each have our own ways of reacting to it, but I have got to pick you up on a couple of issues that I think are wrong.

First off, what's this craving for a response all about? If you make a point on here, people have the choice to respond to it or not, as is their wont. Please offer up your views in that context, and don't try to manipulate or set expectations for the feedback. It is what it is.

Secondly, "no other views on offer" ... what are you talking about ? ? There are plenty of views on offer... surely that's what this place is all about?

As for Joleon being a great prospect for us, no arguement there... but "he's for the blue cause as opposed to his own pocket" ? don't make me laugh. He's a professional footballer. That means being paid for playing football. This romantic tosh about playing for the Blues cause is simply a case of Who pays his wages? With his "excellent attitude", I feel certain it would be the same way whatever club he played for.

And if all you're doing is trying to pick out a positive from today's unmitigated disaster, I think you're going to have to dig a little deeper. Although at least Joleon did provide the final ball for Hyypia's goal. That's about as positive as it gets, I'm afraid.

Oh dear Michael your quest to be blindly objective, launch yourself onto some sort of amateur journalst platform & still find something to bang on about has simply proved my point?

Quote / re-quote all you want but please read as written ’no other views on offer’ refers to my own post. As for Lescott ... you did not see him play with this level of commitment at Wolves ( as verified by wanderers fans ) and he has already openly said that he has a passion for the club & of the support he has recieved, including the initial chance he was given to play in the top flight.

Really if we’re going to take for granted that the mind set of all pro’s is strictly 100% financial then why go to the games, subscribe to this & that or even buy an air freshner. And if that is the case then both you & I are naive wankers... but surely it’s the idea that we support & finance a squad that’s actually out there for us, that keeps us going & bantering on. There certainly are guns for hire out there but they generally stick out for all to see.

Today the selection was uninspiring but actually seemed to work & things only went to shit when the ref had some sort of stroke & couldn’t make out red from blue. Did you think we were onto a loser before Hibbert was sent off??

As for the response craving.... well quite frankly I’m sick of birds & people that never get near to a game giving it ’ Arteta this, Arteta that’ but he’s not single handedly running, playing all 11 positions! So I simply think people should look beyond the flair & appreciate other areas. I could go on an absolute rampage about every square foot of the park but really whats the point?
