Carsley frozen out

Comments (11)

I see a number of Evertonians are wondering why Lee Carsley was not in the line-up yesterday. Only a fool (and David Moyes)would not have had the little man in the midst of the derby battle. Well, the news in these parts is that he`ll be a Wolves player come the window!

Apparently Moyes was not best pleased that Carsley didn`t take one of the offers for him in the summer and is giving him the `unwanted` treatment to see him on his way. McCarthy has been a long-term fan since their days together with the Republic and will be happy to put the player out of his current misery. Whether it`s good for Everton is another matter all together!

Carsley has been playing though so how do you figure that one out?

Just because we have more choice in midfield this season, and Neville and Jagielka were opted for ahead of him yesterday?

I was particularly pleased with Jagielka yesterday, rose to the Gerrard challenge well. Made some excellent interventions and occasionally showed his quality passing. The game will no doubt have done his confidence the world of good, having almost nullified the threat of a self proclaimed ’world class midfield’.

Keep it up Phil!

What a nonsense letter. Moyesey was delighted Cars stayed in the summer, he never wanted him to leave. Cars was one of those who played in the internationals in the week, much the same as Faddy was rested. I too thought Jagz played well yesterday after fearing that he’d be overrun. in the end, the team played fairly well but lost the game due to a cheat (Gerrard was never actually tackled by Hibbo, he threw his leg out in the area taking Hibbo down with him). And as far as shirt tugging goes it was 50/50. Also, we should have had 2 penalties. And as for that "tackle" by Kuyt on Neville. Thank goodness he didn’t actually make contact. How the hell wasn’t it a red card? Both feet off the floor by at least 24’ and kung-fu style? Cheated. Cheated. Cheated.

Carsley was out of contact. If Moyes wanted him to leave in the summer, he would have been released.

The crux of the matter is that he’s an old man now, and his legs can’t take multiple games in a week. Plus he’s very slow, and in certain games you want extra mobility, especially in a 4-4-2 and frantic EPL.

Dominic and Mark was you watching the same game, jags was shit yes he made a few good tackles but his passing and postional play was pathetic and thats what you need if you are going to play in central midfield.

DJ, I was very careful not to mention positional sense. I thought he did well in midfield alongside Neville.

Come on, you have to admit, two defenders against Gerrard, Mascherano and Sissoko, they played pretty well. THEY didn’t score in open play and whenever they had the ball in the middle, they would be pushed down the left and right because there was no other option.

Come to think of it, I think they both must have played fairly well positionally not to concede in open play... certainly when considering they were both in foreign positions.

Carsley has been dropped because he cannot play with Neville or Jagielka. If he is with a creative midfielder or in a 5 man midfield he is a very valuable player but playing alongside another defensive minded player he is useless. When he was alongside Fernandes they started to get a good little partnership going and behind Cahill and Gravesen in 04/05 he was also quality.

I like Carsley and do not believe in any way that he is being frozen out. He is probably the most liked player in the dressing room judging by player interviews and has already played 9/10 games this season so I dont really see what Will is getting at.

Jagielka got better as the game wore on yesterday. The first 20 minutes he was awful but some of his tackles and energy where fantastic. But saying that he is not a midfielder. He lacks the passing and awareness and the best place for him is right back which he will start playing as Nev and Hibbo are injured.

Moyes is a muppet! If he thinks Neville is a better midfielder than he is a full-back and Jagielka a better defensive midfielder than Cars,we are in deep trouble. This man can bring confusion to team selection where none exists.Suspect more grief in midweek as he unveils his latest tactical masterstrokes!

Mr Guilottine, what is everton’s standard. Hibbert, Neville and Jagielka are very much part of our squad so they must be good enough.

So maybe they are good enough for everton but the everton standard is very poor. We do look shite all round if im honest and I’m expecting around a mid table finish which just isn’t good enough.

Last year carsley was often lambasted for his shortfalls, which i strongly agreed with! although neville and jagielka are poor optoins we are kidding ourselves if with think carsley is an improvement. If he does go to wolves he will be doing us a favour by denying moyes another poor option. thanks for your efforts lee but you wont be missed.

Conner, neither Neville (midfield)or Hibbert anywhere are good enough for a top table club and need to be replaced Jags im still not convinced but would give him longer before deciding The fact thats getting missed is we failed to beat the worst Liverpool team to play at goodison since 1962 and I have seen all of them,Yes we were cheated but what did we create?
