A blessing for the next three games?

Comments (12)

Is anyone else more excited about Everton's next three league games now that Moyes will be forced into playing at least one creative midfeilder as Jags will have to play right back? It means Grav and Cahill will be given a chance or even Mikel in the center and with winnable games coming up we may start to pass the football in the middle of the park.

I like Hibbert's efforts and Neville's commitment but if we had to have two players suspended it may well be those two. it should also see Jags played in defence which is where he needs to play to win over the fans, as he is no centre-midfielder!

It’s definitely only a 1 game ban for a professional foul, and I think Neville will only get a 1 game ban as well.

It’s only violent conduct etc. that results in a 3 game ban.

I agree, the biggest positives from the game involve forcing Moyes to make changes to the side that I think should be his primary choices.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Yobo at right back with Lescott and Stubbs in the centre,Baines at left back...then he can leave Jags out of position in midfield along side Carsley.....I think Moyes has worked miracles since he has been here ...but.. his recent team selection with the players at his disposal has mystified me..Im not yet reaching Marsh-esque level of distrust..but I do think its time for a tactical change.

Lets be honest Yes Gerrard dived Yes he got Hibbert a red card But if Hibbet had have headed the ball out instead of dithering there would have been no chance for the dive and the next tackle that cuts a red in half hopefully Gerrard I will be waiting for that knobhead Cara to remember its a mans game.

I was thinking exactly the same thing.. this is a blessing in disguise.

Jags will play right back and Cahill will play with Grav/Carsley in centre mid, thus making a much balanced side. This could kickstart our season.. im tellin ya!

I can see him him playing Jobo at rb and continuing with jags in centre midfield. Nothing would surprise me with Moyes

In Yakubu and Anichebe we had two battering rams and a woeful lack of ideas, Vic at least seemed to be ’up for it’. Long before half time I was praying for Yakubu to be subbed.
Since joining Everton whatever goal instinct the Yak ever had has deserted him. If he does not start finding the back of the net pretty soon he could go down as our most expensive flop. By the same token AJ would not be far behind.

On another note, I wonder how Beatties goals per Everton game compares with that of Yakubu and AJ.

The glaringly salient fact that’s emerged so far this season is that a central midfield pairing of Neville and Jagielka is simply not going to cut it at out the level we are no hoping to be part of - Top 6/UEFA at least every year and then build on that.
Phil is a consummate pro we need that - and probably gets the nod at right back (or maybe even goalie!) but Jags - I am sorry - just doesn’t seem to be up to it. He gets flustered under even light pressure and gives the ball away far too often. That gaping gap needs urgent plugging come The Window or we risk finishing 8th-10th. Nothing else matters. I’d even go so far as to say sell Yakubu to help fund it, as we already have a ’Yakubu’ called Victor.

If only that arsehole Hibbert hadnt shit his pants when the ball bounced in the opposing half.
This guy is fucking awfull and belongs in the championship at best.
He was gobbing off during the week about what a derby means to the local lads.
Sorry Tony shitting out of a challenge is not what it is all about. Im sick to death of people telling me hes a good defender, its not enough he shite and I hope I dont have to see him in a blue top again.
Comes to something when fans are saying "at least Hibbert and Neville are suspended"

I've really struggled to draw any positives from the Derby but here goes. Without having Hibbert and Neville forced upon us, we may now see Jagielka at right back and Baines at left back. Howard, Yobo and Lescott. This is were I go a bit fuzzy, I would play Carsley, Arteta, Pienaar and Cahill, with Anichebe and Yakubu. Subs made from the rest. It was shit going into work to listen to the gloating from the numb nuts, they just don't understand the word CHEAT.
