Petition to ban Clattenburg

Comments (23)

So here it is everyone, there was bound to be one. Go and sign this petition: http://clattenburg.epetitions.net/

I doubt it will have any effect, he certainly won't be banned for life but if we kick up enough fuss at least they might take some action, and you will feel better for being able to do something!

Regardless of all else yesterday, nobody can deny that the referee was a disgrace. This is nothing new of course but for a change the media appear to agree.... shock horror... the Reds had a biased ref!! We can, of course, simply moan or we could e.mail and actually tell the tossers wot we think. I'm sure if they receive several thousand mails demanding a response they will have to respond? Ask those questions pissing us all off:
  • Why does a Bruce Lee drop kick go relatively unpunished?
  • Why do Liverpool players get to decide on the colour of a card?
  • Why did the referee fail to give such a clear cut penalty to Everton?
ps: avoid abuse where possible... lol It's worth a mail, people.... can't change the result but we can be more pro-active.

When Rob Styles made an error against Liverpool the Echo printed a front page picture of the man in a clown's disguise. Do you think the same will happen now Clattenburg has cheated us out of a point? I doubt it very much!

I hope every reader on this website writes to the FA. Never mind how slim the chance something would be done, but you never know. Here's what I wrote:

I, as a fan of Everton FC, would like to demand action against Clattenburg and explanation from him regarding these:

1. Why does a Bruce Lee drop kick go relatively unpunished? Only a red card and a ban of probably at least 5 matches will be enough.
2. Why does a Liverpool player get to decide on the colour of a card? Shouldn?t this player be sent off or at least booked for pressuring the referee?
3. Why did the referee fail to give such a clear cut penalty to Everton? It should really be two, but he gave none.

I am very sure that this referee and the players such as Kyut, Gerrard and Carragher (sorry I don?t care to find out how his name should be spelled) have brought the match into disrepute. You just ask the neutral fans.

The list of bad decisions in Derby matches goes on and on. Thomas, Poll and now Clattenberg. Well, enough is enough. Let’s stop moaning about the Kopite Clattenburg and flood the FA website with complaints. We all know Barwick is another kopite, let him know were not putting up with his cheating refs any longer. Just set up a username and password and away you go.

What a disgrace the game was yesterday. I have never seen such openly biased actions. It was obvious that Steven Gerrard said something to the ref to make him show Tony Hibbert a red card instead of a yellow. Players are not supposed to be able to interfere with ref decisions; so what makes Gerrard different to anybody else? We lost a game yesterday that we clearly should have won and probably would have if we’d been given the penalties we deserved. This game must be investigated.

Sadly i suspect / think this will be wiped under the carpet, it’ll happen again and again in order for the FA / Premier League to keep the Status Quo (The Big 4) intact for The Champions League / G14 roadshow. I personally think the game’s in trouble now, everyone will have seen Clattenberg’s lowlights of the Derby, questions will now have to be asked and addressed.

On the other hand, if we take this further, making a big fuss of it, what odds on all the refs closing ranks, sticking by their colleague, thus giving Everton a hard time in the future? It just seems to be a never ending vicious circle.

Bill and Moyes have big decisions to make this week regarding this matter. Clattenberg just cannot go unpunished for his antics in the Derby. He has damaged the integrity of the Premier League for all to see - screened live world-wide.

If it was Bill, i would publicly state that Clattenberg should never be allowed to referee an Everton game again, stick to his guns, it might wake everyone else in the Premier League up to what is going on?

No matter what Clattenberg does in future Everton games his integrity has been seriously compromised, referees have to be above that or they shouldn’t be there at all.

watched the game on the box gerard spent the whole game in claptraps ear, mark this mark that, they must be on first name terms.it was a blatent dive by gerard for the pen an claptrap was that far behind play he couldnt have seen what happened properly but just couldnt wait to give the pen, as for gerard telling him what card to give its a fukn disgrace he should be brought before the FA.the non-pen at the end just put the top hat on it,am afraid the "top four" are now gauranteed all the big decisions its virtually bent,DISGRACEFULL.

Just a point prior to the second penalty one of their players handled and play was allowed to go on,To be honest I have watched this game a few times now and can not recall one decision in our favour that could be classed as a fifty fifty decision so was it a case of ineptitude? if so there would be wrong decisions in our favour as well there is more to this than the ref having a off day

All the complaining in the world wont change this or any future derby results no matter how just. Personally, I think both the penalty decisions for Liverpool were justified. We got caught out for the first one when we were attacking, as we have many times this season. We would be disappointed if AJ had had that one denied. Hibbert and Neville should not have let the ball bounce. Good players punish you at this level. Its the constant lack of concentration defensively we should be worried about.

Karl at the game I was not that sure but I sky + it and watched it again and its clear if you watch Gerarrd hangs his leg out and this caused Hibbet to fall ,also during the play up to the second one the ball is clearly handled by a red but the ref (suprise suprise) lets play go on and the ball comes back in and then the guy shoots and Nev saves so a decent ref would have given neither pen ,but I find this first name chats between Stevie and Mark disturbing even more so the handshake when Gerrard is subbed

We as fans need to let EPL know that we are not to tolerate the vagary of a destroyer. Please sign the petition at http://clattenburg.epetitions.net/ and email the EPL with your concern. I live outside the UK but I have already signed the petition and emailed them. I?ll be faxing them as well. Let us overload them with our concern and demand for an explanation. We pay for our team to play in the EPL. They owe us an answer. Let us rally against Clattenburg. His employer has to answer.

This is what a RS has posted. I'm not sure if it's their sense of humour or just plain taking the piss. Either way it highlights the incompetence of Mark Clattenburg: an online petition to get Clattenburg a knighthood.

It’s about time referees accepted they are simply a tool to facilitate the game. They are not there to rival players (we have enough prima donnas in the game as it is!). The days when it could be said that ’the referee’s decision is final’ have gone. The instrument that has poured money in to the game (of which referees have taken their share) now means that millions of people can see when a decision is abysmal. To see referees and linesman week after week attempting to look authoratitive after another poor decision which millions know to be wrong is one of the main unaddressed problems of today’s game. It cries out for the fourth official to be in radio contact with referee and advise him. For that to happen referees like Clattenburg have to subjugate their own egos and accept the fourth official’s verdict. I suspect they won’t because they want to remain more important than they actually are.

All teams have suffered injustice by incompetent referees, it all balances out in the end. This was especially hard to swallow for Everton fans because of who the opposition was, Liverpool FC. Last season it was LFC who were wearing the other shoe after some bad decisions went against them. You could say karma has been restored. Dont waste your time with these petitions, the FA won’t do diddly squat.

Clattenburg clearly favours the big 4. He failed to send off Lehmann and award a penalty at Goodison last season. And how can we forget the Spurs goal that never was at Old Trafford 2 years ago.

The performance on Saturday was nothing short of disgraceful - allowing Gerrard to decide the colour of Hibbert’s card, warmly shaking hands with the Liverpool captain when he was subbed, ignoring Kuyt’s two footed airborne lunge on Neville and choosing to wave away 2 clear penalties to the home side.

In terms of in competence and bias, he’s in a class of his own. Is he an out and out cheat - I couldn’t possibly comment.
