The Mail Bag

Larissa match

Does anybody else feel that with the injustice that was dealt out from the derby last Saturday, that we are going to absolutely mash Larissa tomorrow night? The team has to be right of course, but I think DM should pick the team from those who are available for Sunday's game at Derby. Jags at right back, Baines at left back, Carsley, Arteta, Piennar and Osman in midfield with Yakubu and McFadden up front. I think Vic has done quite well recently, but I believe he has done much better coming on as a sub. Also, Yakubu looked more lively than usual on Saturday and looks like he could bang a few in for us. Fingers crossed eh... 4-0 to the Blues!!!

I admire the confidence Simon, and I can’t really disagree with either your team selection or your comments about Yakubu. He did look better than he has done, but quite frankly he hadn’t set too much of a standard.

However, I don’t think Larissa will be the walk over that you are expecting. I believe we will win, but do not forget that this is a team who beat a strong Blackburn team over two legs. A Blackburn team who came to Goodison six weeks ago, dominated for 60 minutes and can feel quite aggrieved that they didn’t get all 3 points.

Blue win 2-1.

So who are you dropping then - Stubbs or Yobo? I’m presuming its not Lescott!!

Nick same name same thoughts think our dad got around, not to sure of the midfield Tim Cahill must be knocking on the door to be picked,I hope Simon’s Right But I remember when Panathikos(sorry about spelling) played us we expected a walk over and although we were all over them the score told a different tale I will settle for a 1-0 win

We are going to murder them. 4-0. I completely agree, expect a backlash!

I just want to see Cahill back in the fold. He has to be ready by now. And the news that Vaughan could be available, fantastic. Put Vughan up front with McFadden to run at defenders. Arteta, Pienaar or Osman who looked much better this Sunday, Cahill and Carsley playing the holding role. Baines has got to be put back in there, he’s too good not to be involved even with Lescott playing well on the left. I’m quietly optimistic we will have a good game tomorrow.

Although a big win would be great, don’t underestimate the opposition and remember it’s not over 2 legs so the most important thing is a win and 3 points.

Blow this one and we face an uphill battle. Win it and we can go to Nuremberg knowing we can take a draw if necessary.

Karl, I dont think anyone is underestimating Larissa after seeing Metalist play us off the park. I think we’ll get through the group as the top 3 go through but being everton you never know.

Yakubu for me looked good against Liverpool and should start. If I was to pick between Anichebe and Faddy I would pick Faddy just. Mcfadden has more technical ability and is more suited to these games. At the back Baines should come in as he has proven his quality and if we dont play him for me its a waste of 5 million pounds.

I think Moyes will go like this:

....................Howard.......................

Jagielka...Yobo.....Lescott...Baines

Arteta...Cahill.........Neville...Pienaar

...........Mcfadden......Yakubu..........
