The Mail Bag

Subsequent ban

Comments (4)

When a certain Mr Gerrard attempted to break Gary Naysmith's leg in a derby game some seasons back that went unpunished in the game the FA stepped in and issued the proper red card in light of the offence after the fact.

No such luck this time round with Mr Kuyt then?

Normal service resumed. (And wasn't it the Kopites crying about Gary Neville celebrating a couple of seasons ago? Good to know that the shite players are immune in that sense also..

I always understood that once a yellow card was given, it is not possible to ban a player for that same foul. Only if a ref really missed a foul it is possible to punish the player after the match. That’s at least how I understood it.

Since Kuyt got a yellow, he’ll probably walk away with it.

Anyone else on this subject?

thats how i understand the rules to be aswell
they need to be reviewed because refs are making too many mistakes and booking players for really dangerous things

the fa rules clearly state that, if the referee has witnessed and punished the offence then the ideo panel cannot interveine
