Alan Stubbs

I would like to find out everyone's opinion whether or not Stubbsy should be offered a coaching role at the club at the end of the season.

Obviously David Moyes may offer the iron man another one year deal as he still puts in performances that merit it. Maybe he will go elsewhere to continue playing i dont know, but if he retires at the end of the season surely such an influential player would be a great asset to the club in a coaching role be it at youth level or higher.

Totally agree, a credit to the club, and a top-class professional. Surely a role within the club can be created for such a servant for the team.

Always a difficult one this! Do we find a job for a long serving player? We havent really done this in the past
ie Kevin Ratcliffe, Neville Southall and Dave Watson spring to mind.
Do the club have any vacancies in the coaching dept to fulfull. Has Stubbs earned enough money that he doesn’t want to coach some spotty face 15yo.
Only time will tell Stubbs would be an asset to the club but I think he will be good enough to manage a club at Championship level rather than coach youngsters.

Definitely should be offered a coaching role. A sound defender, with a great understanding, enthusiasm and love of the club, and most importantly whenever I?ve read or heard his interviews he speaks a great deal of sense.

James, based on what i’ve seen of Kevin Ratcliffe recently he’s far too negative, and I don’t think Neville, although an excellent keeper in his day, had/has an appropriate character. Dave Watson would have made a good coach.

No he shuldn’t because he was and still is too far up Rooney’s *rse and Stretfords.

Too quick to slag the club off when he left re: the clause about his health. Should have kept his mouth shut.

He is also a moody get whose got not time for anyone outside of football.

Not the right character. Watson yes but Stubbs no

ernie you are so wrong about southall it smacks of being retarded
i had the privelage of meeting him a couple of seasons ago in the legends bar and he and his wife had brought a team of kids up from cornwall to watch the derby
he talked to me and my brother for a good ten mins and was an utter gentleman
he is an abassador for the sport.
stubbs should be used as an everton in the community officer or something
a link between the public and the team

Dave t, I also think Neville Southall is a topman and was a fantastic player for Everton but in my opinion he wouldn’t/doesn’t make a great coach.

Smacks of being retarded is a little rude don’t you think?

If you contact the club and ask for someone to appear at an awards evening inevitably it is Alan Stubbs who is offered by the club to come. For example Stubbs is coming to do the awards at my daughters school. The club have said he can only be there for an hour and should not be asked to give any speech or talk. In other words hand out the awards and go.

I have always been surprised Big Nev is not the goalkeeping coach at some club because no doubt he is one of the all time best. Maybe he has not got the charisma and the gift of the gab but he has always been a great ambassador for this club.

James, Big Nev does have coaching experience with the Wales National team as well as few non league sides. He was managing Hastings United in 2005.

Bri............. what the f*ck are you on? Stubbs has got blue blood running through his viens. The man deserves another years playing contract and then would be more than worthy of a coaching role. Ratcliffe is a very bitter man who does not have Everton in his interests at all judging by his performances on Cannel 5 - he sound p*ssed when commentating on our games.

Wouldnt you feel a tad aggrieved if your company tried to insert a contract cancellation clause should you have a recurrence of cancer???? - The man was treated badly at the time but showed how much the club means to him with the performances he has put in since returning.

matt - what the f*ck are you on? I didn’t even mention Ratcliffe?

I’ll never forget how Stubbs backed Rooney for leaving saying you can’t blame him etc. It just so happens that he too is represented by Stretford.

With regards to his contract, he should have kept his mouth shut. If you remember Matt, He apologised for his outburst when he came back.

He may be an Evertonian mate but he in now way desreves a coaching role at Everton not only because of teh above mentioned but also because he is a moody get who has got no time for anyone.

I have met him on several occasions including tyhe end of season awards and found him hard work in comparison to all the other players.

My point is in all this is that he doesn’t warrant a coachin position just because he’s an Evertonian which appers to be your argument.

He’s been a good player I agree but thats not enough

I wouldn’t ask a player like Stubbs who has made hoofball into an art form to ever teach our young kids. As for those pricks who have the cheek to slag off Big Nev and Radcliffe; these were two world class players who performed at the highest level for Everton for a combined total of 35 years how dare you question their committment and loyalty.
