Waste of money?

I subscribed to Everton TV not to hear juvenile propaganda but to watch or hear live games. What do I get? Lots and lots of juvenile propaganda and barely a skerrick of Live games. Am I wrong in criticising the service or Is my computer at fault. Will another subscriber living in OZ please tell me their experience of it.

I find it a very good service for a reasonable price. I dont think they were ever going to show live games - they dont have the rights!! They sold them to Sky and Setanta like every other premiership clu. They have shown live frienlies and things like that but i still think it is a good service as you get to see all the goals, interviews, press conferences etc.

To be fair, it costs bugger all so you get bugger all! It does what it says on the tin.

For fooks sake it is a channel dedicated to Everton, what did you expect?

I paid £35 for 12 months which is less than 70 pence a week, not a bad deal in my opinion, especially if I have missed Footie First and the goals.

I also enjoy watching the interview that will never be shown on Terrestial TV.

Some people on this site just moan for the sake of moaning and it is getting so tedious.

I agree - it’s best use for me is to watch highlights of games I’ve missed, and watching extended post-match interviews. I find that if I only hear soundbites I never get the full picture of what the person being interviewed was trying to say.

One problem I’m having though is I don’t seem to be able to view anything from EvertonTV in a big screen, but I think this may be settings on my computer rather than being anything to do with Everton (although as I’m writing on Toffeeweb, I’ll blame it on them anyway - it seems a common theme!)

I think it is pretty good. I dont care much about the interviews cause I dont find them that interesting (well, actually see the Yakubu ones when he first signed and see how many times he manages to say: you know). But the highlights from the matches are if anything too long. They also show some games that are hard to find if you dont live in the UK, like for example Metalist@home and Larissa@home. They also show pre-season games witch are impossible to get on tv no matter how big your satelitte dish is.
The streams from the matches are also stable witch is a strong selling point cause you dont know what you are going to get elsewhere on the net.
The thing I dont like is the interface witch is a fucking nightmare. The links dont go the right place etc. I had problems finding the Larissa stream it was well hidden under "video".... Lost a precious 2-3 minutes of watching the blues:)
Find something else to complain about. Choose from the following: "style of play", "Yakubu/Jagielka waste of money", "Kenwright" and "Moyes"

a fiver a month? certainly not a rip off. you were never gonna get live premiership games on it as these deals have already been tied down. the first metalist game was on it which was a surprise considering five were showing it(and handy since i cant get five in ireland). all in all im happy with the service, although the picture quality could be better.

I think it’s great. I mean, where else can you watch a good 20+ mins of Everton highlights and extended pre and post-match interviews on a weekly basis??

I agree - for the money it’s a fairly good service. The highlights are the biggest bonus though. If you miss a game you are guaranteed to get 20 minutes of highlights, instead of the 20 seconds we’re usually afforded by MOTD.

The reserve game highlights are also good, and give a rare glimpse of potential stars (before they move on a free to Northampton or wherever!).

The radio commentary is also useful, if we’re not being featured in radio.

£40 per year is decent value - but your computer does need to be up to scratch.

I’m also a fellow subscriber from down under. I’ve had some problems with EvertonTV, mostly with buttons not working. It’s really a matter of patience with it.
Although the dollar/pound conversion makes it not that cheap, being able to watch Larissa and Mentalists games live were invaluable (except for the phantom commentary). Unfortunately it isn’t so userfriendly in the sense that the links to the Live matches weren’t working on the ’home’ page, and they were actually quite difficult to find. I remember reading some people didn’t even find it at all!
Although it has its obvious problems, it’s definitely worth the money to me. Interviews with players, a decent highlights package (most premiership highlights tend to have Everton games over in less than 30 seconds during an hour show), especially for games which aren’t televised here in oz. The great thing about the premiership these days is that i can watch 80%+ of live games on TV here in Australia now on Foxtel. I don’t think i will ever be able to live without pay television in my life again.

Though my comments above appear derogatory, I agree that its good for the money - it costs next to nothing and has some good tuff on it that you wont see elsewhere. This is one thing that EFC have got right.

Typical.

BLUEKIPPER are so excited over an extra time win over league one opposition theyve all gone off to the alehouse and thus theres no match report to view.

Not the first time this has happened either. At least with Toffeeweb the writers and executives dont head straight for the bottle openers whenever everton are involved in a "significant result"

God knows what will happen if we actually end up winning the bloody thing.

A good comprehensive match report and pre game analysis on here anyway. Well done.

If you are over 12 yo Bluekipper is a joke anyway.

I found the Everton TV to be very good when I was living in Korea and there was no access to watching the games on telly except when we played teams that had Korean players in them.

I would listen to the live games and watch the highlights and there was only 1 occasion in the season that the commentary went funny and they were online fixing it as I complained so I thought that was good service.

My only problem with it was with the downloads of the videos which wouldn’t work if the file was over 20Mb and they were never able to sort out the problem.
