Atmosphere

Comments (12)

Is it me or has the atmosphere at Goodison been a bit, well, shit this season?

We need to sing more I reckon. Anyone got any theories beyond conspiracy? Is it because we've been a bit average on the pitch?

Like Russ Abbot said, 'I love a party with a happy atmosphere'

The atmosphere is superb at the beginning, you need inspiring sometimes dont you?

I’m normally that nervous (metalist, larissa, liverpool etc) but would always join in whole heartedly if one kicks up like

No i agree with you Allan - It seems to be getting quieter by the game. Lets face it, in recent years the atmosphere hasn’t been anything to write home about but this year seems worse than ever.
A lot of it is down to the football on show on the field but even with that accepted it is still way too quiet at times. Its like we sing for the first 5 mins and then stop until we score at which point we sing for another 5 mins.
We clould also do with some new songs - we sing the same ones over and over. The new "Mikel Arteta" song is the first new one in years! More of the same please!! (away fans i’m talking to you, It usually you who start the new tunes!!)

P.S. Cue the "if i want to sing i’ll join a choir" brigade.

The atmosphere is always better when fans stand up. Trouble is when fans stand up in the Lower Gwladys the back 2 rows have their view blocked by a horizontal supporting beam and so tell everyone to sit down.

Not only that but when fans do ignore the ones at the back, albeit only ever temporarily during exciting moments in play, we also suffer from poor acoustics which means that it takes more participants to help spread songs around the stadium.

Will the new Kirkby design be any better? Unfortunately not, worse in fact. Fans standing up in the new Lower Gwladys will block the views of the executives behind, who will get the stewards to clamp down on standing.

In addition there will be even worse acoustics there. The proximity between the fans in the Lower tier and the roof is too far to reverberate the songs. It’s not as though you can just put the singers in the upper tier either. Not only is sustained standing up in large numbers unlikely in an upper tier but it is also considered to be a significant safety risk.

The atmosphere at Goodison is fairly quiet these days.

However I was shocked to find out recently that Everton have the fifth loudest fans in the league! This despite complaints we aren’t creating much of an atmosphere inside Goodison!

Dominic I think that same survey also had us down as the most frequent singers in the prem.

As a footnote Liverpool were down in 16th for how loud they were at Anfield.

Get a grip everbody, get together for the Club! Doesn’t matter who’s in charge and what kind of football we play. We have to stick together and cheer the Club on. One season it might be the difference between loosing or winning a vital cup game that can bring us on to a lucky winning streak in the competition. Suddenly we are there with a trophy, and that might be the start of an era. Remember 84, remember Oxford United, Kendall didn’t get the sack. We didn’t have much of a team in 95 either, something might have happened in 96 when we got a few players. Sadly Royle wasn’t the man to bring it forward. Who knows what would have happened if we had beaten Feyenoord and carried on to win it...What would the period of 97-02 have looked like then? Man Utd was shite when they won the FA cup against Crystal Palace after replay. They spent an awful lot of money on players like Pallister (beat the transfer record which were held by Everton and Tony Cotte). With no Cup Winners Cup, would they rise and Shine? Chelsea also started with an FA Cup win, but of coures the big spending oil baron is the main reason in this case, however people musn’t underestimate the importance of their cup win. Isn’t more interesting to buy a team that has recently won something? A leauge cup win would take the pressure of Everton and the players demand of playing in Europe - probably it will be the difference between keeping a player or two from leaving and also maybe getting quality in to the club. It’s vital that we qualify, so please give any away team at Goodison a real hazzle if someone arrives (and we don’t have to travel) to Goodison to fight for a semi-final. Brgs from Norway and please get well soon.
