Whatd'ya mean 'don't shoot'!

I'm a big fan of Moyes but what sort of advice is it to tell a footballer not to shoot? Bobby Charlton always says that his attitude was that if you don't shoot you don't score. Many of his efforts ended up in the stands but then the others...

Tony

What a great Post.

So we will tell Phil Neville, Yobo, Howard and maybe a few others like Baines etc to take long range shots all the time.

Charlton was spot on, if you dont shoot - you dont score.

But please bare in mind what type of players he was playing with and the players that could shoot in his team (or players he was referring too)!

The problem with our beloved Everton is we dont have many players that can bang them in from 25 yards.

Moyes just meant Lee shouldnt be shooting for fun because he probably scores 1 in a 100 shots if not worse!

Who said don’t shoot? Check out the quote.

"It was a great strike from Lee Carsley. I almost told him at the break to stop shooting because he had messed up a few opportunities.

"But I am glad I didn’t stop him, I would have been wrong and thank goodness I kept my mouth shut," Moyes added.

Pick the bones out of that one.....

It was clearly said as a joke in an interview
unlike Benitez Moyes has a sense of humour unlike the person who posted this ridiculous thread

I well remember Bobby Charltons first game at Goodison. He was a teenager and each time he got the ball regardless how far out he was he would shoot. All his shots were high or wide but that did not stop him from havin a go.
Every time he got the ball our Gwladys St crowd took the mickey with roars of SHOOT!
A few years later it was a different story when his shots were like cannon balls and all on target.
