In numerous posts the spirit of the team is rightly mentioned and watching them play and celebrate yesterday they 'seemed' to enjoy playing with each other (no Frankie Howard titters, please). Tim H says he would be happy to finish his career at Everton and I do feel Davey has assembled a squad who would be genuinly happy to see out their careers in blue (agents and a Leeds like decline in performance aside).

So with the speculation about transfers starting up do we want the likes of Riquelme coming in and potentially spoiling this or is this a price that needs to be paid to take the next step?

No we don’t want players like that. We need another Arteta / Pienaar type midfielder but with a bit more physical presence and we need a right sided equivalent of Lescott. Then, my friends, i believe we’re in business!

A right sided equivalent of Lescott? Isn’t that what Jags is supposed to be?
I would take Riquelme like a shot because one of Moyes’ best attributes is his ability to mould a player to suit Everton. We can slowly see it happening with the Yak. Judging by the Brum game you couldn’t say that the Yak was lazy which was the case in his earlier performances.

Whoever Moyes brings in in January I have every faith it will work out

Jagz is more of a utility player. I’m talking a solid central defender with a bit of pace who can also do a good job at right back. Dare i say someone like Carragher, but about 8 years younger.

What is wrong with yobo exactly? He has pace and is a leader and generally a rock at the back. He has a screamer every once in awhile, but who doesn’t including Lescott. Not to mention he will be our next captain. And phil and jags do quite fine at rightback.

Even the mention of the name Carragher (’the babbling monkey’ as someone on here described him!) makes me want to poke out my own eyes with hot pins.
Is there a player in the game that gets away with more than him???
