The Mail Bag

Phil Neville

I've enjoyed reading some of the positive appraisals of Phil Neville's impact on this website of late. I think he's a very useful member of the squad who can play a significant role in our journey back to the top.

For those who question his distribution, hover your cursor over his name at the bottom of this article. His pass success rate was only bettered by Arteta, Pienaar and Yakubu at the weekend. Not bad for a right-back?

I never understand why Phil Neville gets slated so much by Evertonians on here - I always see a player giving his all every game. Massively experienced, moreso that any other player we’ve got in the squad, and an extremely valuable member of the team.

We’d be worse off without him, and he’ll be invalualbe in the UEFA Cup this year.

I agree. He may not be the fans favourite that Arteta or Cahill is but lets be honest, he gives 100% every match and he has won around 60 odd England caps. You dont win that many unless you are half decent (unless you are John Barnes). And Alex Ferguson obviously rated him to play him so regularly for Manure.

His experience both on and off the pitch this season is crucial if we are to challenge on all fronts for honours!!

Neville to stay!

Give him another season and we could have another Brian Labone or Ray Wilson.

I hope to go to his testimonial and get his autograph for all his hard work and endeavour that he will have given for the club.

He literally gives blood, sweat and tears for the blue cause.
