Yes, that was an excellent achievement. We never really looked too troubled despite gifting them a frew nervous opportunities. Great, great finish by Victor at the end. Absolutely top class strike.

Super-sub, Super result! I followed the game on Soccernet gamecast from 1:30 AM to 3:30 AM, but have no regrets about waking up again in 3 hours time to go to work coz of the result.
I was a bit worried in the first half but figured I'd settle for a draw near the end... then Arteta steps up to set Super-sub Vic who earns us a penalty.. which Arteta slots home! Super-sub Vic makes things safe for us (once again!) with a goal at the end... Two wins in two in the Uefa Cup Gropu A means barring a miracle, we are through to the knockout stages.
Let's focus on the league now and try and beat Chelsea this weekend. Well done lads...COYB

Another fantastic result by the boys.. Davey really seems to be getting his subs and tactics spot on at the moment. No world beaters but 5 wins on the trot.. really believe we can get something at Chelsea.
To be honest, bar the Reading match and Clottenburg, not a bad season. Even Blackburn have shown that a point from them was not all the doom and gloom it seemed at the time.. and still A.J to come... COYB

A great European away performance, exactly the way it should be done. Hopefully the team will have bags of confidence going into any European tie now, home or away.
Lets hope all who made the trip have a really great night, they deserve it.

Yup - fantastic result and agreed, Anichebe looked great tonight - he made the difference for us. Love that little body check hes got worked out for his goal - he did it against Larissa as well and his was my fave of the three from that night too (even if Ossies was ace)! Just hope he keeps developing and refs don’t start giving him a hard time for being so physical - someone give him vids of Shearer to watch (has that alreday happened?).
Anyway, thought the game was a bit lacklustre and we’ve been better but we deserved the win and, barring a disaster, we should now progress through to the next round.
One thing though - what happened to Arteta’s crossing tonight, it was far below his usual high standard.
Lets hope we can carry on our winning streak on the weekend.
As ever COYB!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we go, here we go, here we go. Side by side as we sing along together. E -V- E-R-T-O-N. We’re Everton and we’ll be Everton forever!!!!! I’m loving this stuff. Moyes seems to be finally getting it right, Neville at right back, super sub Anichebe getting us the penalty and the second goal to keep us top of the group and most likely send us through. Now we need to win this group to improve our seeding. Everything’s coming up Blue at the moment.

Another fantastic Euro result and this time Toffeeweb isn’t crashed for two days after, double result.
Hey remember when Tony Marsh confidentily predicted that the Euro Campaign would be a non-starter?
He was so sure that the Euro Campaign wouldn’t get off the ground, top of the group, what do you think now Tony?

Darren I share your high after another great Euro night but lets not get carried away.
There’s a world of difference between a struggling German side and beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (where they haven’t lost in years).
I hope Moyes and the boys can get something from Chelsea but its going to be much more difficult and we shouldn’t get ourselves too excited just yet.

Yippee !!!!! This European lark is great fun. Good performance I thought, passed the all well at times without really getting into our stride. Created some decent chances by keeping the ball on the floor.
Fantastic strength (and skill) from Victor at the end. With AJ and young Mr Vaughan still to come back properly, what hope for James Mc ???
The result was great. It’s great to see the confidence in the team that comes from a run of wins, playing to the end and being positive. Hope all the fans who traveeled over had a great night of fun and celebration, with no fuss.
Pity it’s such a tough game next, but even allowing for tiredness after the travelling, the way we’re playing to the end, who knows...........

Dutch I’ve said it before in response to another thread but if you go into a game expecting a defeat then you’ll have less chance of making a good go of it, just look at Bolton tonight weho would have thought a draw against the mighty Bayern Munich but Bolton went for it and were good for the draw if not the win. Play every game like it counts, it bloody does to the fans.

Its just a shame that this magnificent run Everton are enjoying now faces probably the most difficult test possible.
Chelsea haven’t lost at home in years. I’m not saying we cant beat them, but lets be honest, chances are Everton’s winning streak will come to an end.
That said stranger things have happened and we can but hope.

Its a good time to be a blue, Enjoy everyone

Great performance from the team. It’s not getting carried away with a win in Europe. 80mins in: a draw would have been acceptable. 90mins and 0-2 win, we’re going somewhere.
By the way that Chelsea unbeaten streak is a farse. They should have lost that game last season. Dissallowed goal for what? Good win!

I am a very proud blue, as I listen on the net in Florida. Cant wait to see the goals on Setanta

Lets not get carried away..but lets enjoy the moment...dont know when we are going to feel like this again(and its been a while coming!)..cant wait to have AJ,Vaughny and Baines back....
I like the belief we carry till the final whistle is blown...we also have quality on the bench which i cant remember us ever having...lets keep working hard and enjoying this wonderful journey...COYB

Dare I say it but I thought Yakubu had a good game up front on his own, thought he held the ball up well, his first touch was excellent (as opposed to his usual touch, with his second touch being a tackle).
His distribution too was good - only when he did too much did he nearly screw up his hard work coming back to help out.
Anichibe is a raw talent (who brightens up any game with his power and wilingness) and he and Yakubu could be the the best striking partnership never to play together...

A very good, proffesional performance. One fitting of the European away experience.
Nuremberg packed their midfield and stifled our play, but our extra quality won through(Stop that...I?m now sounding like David Pleat).
They never really threatened our goal with carved out chances, they were almost exclusively a result of lapses in concentration on our part.
Special credit to Valente, who i thought had a good game considering prior injuries. Arteta, who really took the game to the opposition irrespective of his erratic set peices. Yakubu, who I felt had one of his most all-rounded performances that was only lacking a goal. And ofcourse Big Vic, who was simply majestic.

Fantastic win. This is a great time to be an Evertonian watched the match with my dad (70 years an Evertonian) on sopcast (good stream) here on a sunny Friday morning in New Zealand.
I thought that Everton where having problems breaking down Nuremberg’s 10 men (sometimes) defence so they dropped back to bring out the defenders but the Yak didnt have the pace to get alone forward and create chances. Then a moment of clarity by Moyes and on comes Big Victor the rest is history.
Congratulations Davey and the boys

Very professional european performance away from home...we cannot ask for any more against it remains to be said a very good nurnberg side! We can only continue to grow in stature in europe as the players experience individually and collectively increases.
Well done boys!!

Did anyone who watched the game on Channel 5 notice how Kevin Ratcliffe was constantly saying that Arteta goes to ground to easily ,almost implying that he was a cheat? He did the same thing during the last game against Larrisa. Who needs enemies with friends like that prick.

I was watching the game on BBC’s live text (groan...that’s no way to follow the team!) then the Mrs called and I had to go xmas shopping for the new grandkid (Priorities!!! I’d rather be watching the live text, lol), anyway...just got back and saw we won ........ amazing!!!!!!!!
Anichebe...I could hug him!

Damn, that was a tough venue to play at! That was some crowd!!! I saw it on Setanta here in the States. There were some twitchey moments, but c’mon, we almost scored after 20 seconds!! I think we made it hard on ourselves, and Yakubu, although he didn’t run hard (he never does) really adds a depth to our game. But Victor is the man, c’mon!! He came on, and that was it. Instant goalification. Five on the trot... if we win Sunday, the sky’s the limit.

At approx. 8am this morning a whole building of Chinese people in Beijing was awoken by me blaring Z-Cars from the stereo. I was like a child getting up on Christmas day waiting to see what Santa had brought! What a fantastic result. Just wish I could have been there with my Dad to see it.
On home at Christmas to see the Arsenal Game.....

Ahh, it’s great to be a Blue at the moment.....Woke up at 4am last night to watch the match here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was mightily impressed by how we managed to equip ourselves to the task in a difficult stadium. Credit to the boys for the way they tried hard to avoid playing the usual hoofball away from home by passing the ball around. When we do that we do look a decent side.. Thought everyone did great - Arteta, Valente, Cahill (great to have him back) Yakubu, even Phil Nev at right back (where he belongs) and Ossie. Big Vic has been a revelation in Europe this season and long may it continue. With AJ and Vaughn still to return, Everton’s strike force is looking the best it has been in years.. James Mc really has a fight on his hands to secure regular football WHICH IS A GOOD THING
A brand new contract for Davey Moyes please..

Zack, i live in Phuket and could not get it on TV, which channel do you watch in KL? Great result, we are now in the position to change things around upfront which paid off last night, and with our strikers we will always have a chance. Hopefully the exertions won't spoil our chances against Chelsea. Well done you blues and the fans for behaving with credit once again on their travels.

Great result, solid performance. Along with Arteta, Anichebe, Yakubu, and Valente, Howard deserves special praise as well. He showed great instincts to snuff out the danger when Lescott’s pass went astray, and pulled off a number of important saves throughout to keep us on level terms. Chelsea were very poor midweek in Champs’ League so I think we can give this game a real shake with Gravesen and Jagielka coming in to freshen us up a bit.

Dutch
steady lad, your comments only barely hid what could definitely be construed as traces of optimism
I know we should be enjoying the moment, but I feel like I did in the eighties, who’s next is all I can think of after our games now
It’s a measure of how far we’ve come that a defeat against Chelsea would be a major dissapointment

I never thought I?d see the day when an Evertonian called kevin ratcliffe a prick!! He was right, Arteta does go to ground easy, but as the original soopah kev said, he invites contact and when he gets it, down he goes. Perfectly legit and up to the ref.
Superb performance by the Blues last night, thoroughly delighted with the lot of en but especially Cahill, Valente & Victor who all played like they?ve never been out!

To Alan Humphreys
Maybe we will see two strikers on the pitch if we sign a strong centre mid at some point so that we don’t need to have five in midfield.
Great game, so enjoyable!

If anyone else says ’ lets no get carried away’ - i’m gonna slap’em.
I’ve got a spring in my step, we could be on the verge of some sort of football revolution at GP (i.e passing the ball on the floor), we have won the last 5, repeat FIVE matches (a feat that we have not acheived in the last 20 year - Lets no get carried away - FUCK OFF - I only live 15 mins down the M62, but I’ve booked the Lowrey hotel for the 14th May 2008.

well guys, for some reason last night’s win was very special for me. I’ve been a Blue for the best part of 50 years and have seen the good days and the bloody awful days but there is something about the squad, the team spirit, the ability to come back from the abyss and win that is just, well, special and inspiring.
I dunno, perhaps it’s me hormones but I was close to tears when Vic scored that second, wonderful goal.
I don’t want to get carried away because the bubble will burst sooner or later but I’m just sitting back and savouring every last moment of these heady days. There’s plenty of time for the stomach churning stress of our ’normal’ performances....
I really, really love the Blues.
Win, lose or draw v Chelsea - put in a good performance lads.
