?Joker? in the pack?

Comments (6)

Just read the sports reports in two German papers re the game on Thursday. Both make reference to the Everton supporters being well-natured and turning the city blue. They both praised the lack of the anticipated Anglo-German hatred.

Most amusing is the headlines "British Joker Imposes Club"? Yes they both use the term "Joker" when referring to Victor...insult you may think?... no not at all... "joker" translates as "wildcard" in German. One paper even starts "Everton without Scotland Super talent - James MacFadden"! So Victor is our Joker in the pack?!.... who's laughin now?

To be honest, Big Vic is more like an extra ace up your sleeves. Bringing him on after 70 minutes is almost cheating.

To be able to bring Vic and Vaughany on in games is fantastic. Yak and AJ with Faddy in support is a great collection to start with. What’s vital i think is that we’re not having to either burn out or rely upon or put into a struggling side these kids like we’ve done over the past. It’s also refreshing to see Vic praise the Yak’s role in running the defence ragged prior to him coming on (which he sure did do, Yak much like Pienaar is improving with each game).

This is a wonderful feeling - we can joke about our ?Joker? while the rest of the premiership defences are wondering how the hell they?re going to cope with him. That shoulder charge on the Nuremberg defender as Vic ran in to score was awesome. He brushed him away as if he was a 7 stone jockey.

And here?s the killer - Vic was always going to be a physical handful but he is developing a delicate touch to go with it.

I remember thinking to myself when he was one on one with the Metalist keeper thinking good god not a Biffa blast shot and got to admit that goals with his other UEFA ones have all shown great composure and a striker’s eye something I appreciate in a still very young player

When Victor stands with his back to the defender and does one of his Fred Astaire turns leaving the defender dead in the water it is a truly wonderous sight to behold. You can see the pain in the defenders face, when he knows he’s got no answer!!!!!! Certainly makes me laugh every time.

ps. Unbelievable party atmosphere in Nuremberg. Best behaved supporters in Europe bar none!!!!
