Hibbert !!!!!!!!!!

Just heard he's playing Hibbert today - what the Fuck??? Is Moyes the only person at our club that thinks this lad can play football??? He is utter garbage, one step forward one step backward - Hibbert in the team and Neville in midfield. This isn't a team set up to play football or try to win a game, its a team set up to play hoofball and hope for one chance.
Nil satis .......???

Well done lads, another point gained at one of the hardest grounds in the league and that with several first team players out of the side.
Great point. Yeeeeeeeeeeees!
Lescott played a blinder and Howard made some great saves.
Onwards and upwards you mighty Blues.

Chelsea have not lost here since 2004,
Hibbert had a virus..similar to the one that nearly killed Markus Babel..
He played fucking great today.....
Let the manager manage..and the supporters support...
The rest of the league would’ve killed for that point....
We are still unbeaten since that bastard ref robbed us...COYB

I thought Lescott was outstanding and has surely played his way into the England team to play Croatia. Howard always looked comfortable when he got the ball, and we defended fantastically, apart from their goal. Then up pops Tim to score a blinder of a goal, well done lads, onwards and upwards!! COYB

The timing of this article couldn’t be any more ironic. I thought Hibbert had his best game in an Everton shirt this season today.

Hibbert and the whole defence were excellent today, though another bit of slack marking from a corner for the goal. The idea that the team selection was based on a desire for hoofball turned out to be plain wrong. Even with backs to the wall against a very strong Chelsea side, the team generally tried to play it around and to feet, a characteristic that has become stronger in the recent period. Plus, Moye’s tactics and substitutions were positive. We are far from the finished articel as yet, but FFS, credit where its due to the manager and the lads.

Tony Hibbert played alright today , his best game this season , ironically , I thought his previous best game was against manure . But Joleon Lescott , is there a better defender playing in the premiership at the moment? Have to ask Drogba , he had his arm around him going off at the end , A bit of respect perhaps ?

Tony Hibbert had a very solid game today, by far his best of the season and against some very tough competition. Now I had the same reaction when I saw the team sheet, but well done to ya today Hibbert. And Howard and Lescott played fantastically today. A very good point today without Arteta in the team. The boys stepped it up today and made us proud. And also Moyes. bringing on two strikers to start the 2nd half. All the boys at the pub were shocked. Well done to Moyes, I think that move gave the team belief that we came there to get something and not just hope for the best. Oh yeah, not a bad goal from Cahill I suppose. =)

1 chance = 1 goal -need I say more about tactics and my forecast !!
Hibbert might have played well today but that still does not make him a footballer, he can’t pass, can’t cross, throws in with no thought, has no brain, doesn’t look for people on his blind side - simply championship standard and no more.
Yes a fantastic result, yes a great point, but perhaps it’s my age and the fact that I’ve seen teams in blue that look to play football, that I won’t acknowledge these tactics as anything other than 1 dimensional. Neville offers no footballing presence in midfield - he’s a chaser, battler and a tackler. With Hibbert at the back we offer nothing going forward down that side of the pitch. We set out on the back foot and that’s how the match went. The lack of ability to hold the ball in midfield and the inability of players like Hibbert to pass to his own team creates the problems.
And before everyone has a go because we got a good point at Chelsea, the truth is I want more than a team that plays ’back to wall football’ hoping for 1 chance, I want to see a team that plays winning football.
Is a single point against Chelsea, playing this way, the sum total of our ambitions?

Tony Hibbert would run through a brick wall for Everton, get off his back. Hes had a poor start but all in all he's a cracking defender and i like my defenders to defend.

Good performance by the blues.
Including Hibberts. Get off is back. He’s a nice defender. Very well Yobo and Lescot, as well my fellow Portuguese Nuno Valente.
Did like also Pienaar. Very confartable with the ball. Yakubu not so well.
And Cahill? Superb...
In the end a good result even if Chelsea was by far better team then us most of the time. But in the end our team effort did get us a point. Go on Blues

Hibbert had a very good game today which should boost his confidence, his passing and tackling were spot on and more of the same in future please.
I’ve got to say lescott today was outstanding as was howard who made a quite astonishing save from lampard, a deserved point imo for a determined display, and the unbeaten run continues and likely to continue with sunderland at home up next,

Hourigan you are a sad individual who always looks for the negatives never the positives. How many teams have won at Chelsea or even got a point? As for your desire to see good football can you actually remember any team outside of the so called top four that play attractive winning football? Today it is about results and frankly as long as Everton keep getting results here is one happy Evertonian

Get in you beauties!!!! What a goal!!! Pounced at the last minute like a hidden tiger POW!!! All their possession was designed to give them a false sence of security. We could have played them off the park anyday really. COYB!!!

Jim Hourigan, I hear where you are coming from: It would be great to play Chelsea off the park at their place and be positive from the off. Moyes was too defensive in initial team selection, but rectified it later on. I think he new we had not much fuel in the tank having had far less recovery time than Chelsea i.e. half as much, which excuses the defensive mindset a bit. However, Chelsea are actually being helped by the likes of Neville in midfield because he is poor at retaining posession, hopefully the penny is dropping with Moyes as evidenced by his half time removal. Hibbert seemed to dip out of the way of Drogba’s header just before it skimmmed his head before hitting the back if the net! Also, Jags would have cleared it by virtue of his extra height had he been on the line instead! We did have more than one chance BTW, i.e. Pienaar missed a sitter! All in all, I’ll gladly take a point as we were knackered and missing Arteta too. COYB!

One thing Jim did actually post this before the match! All the responses given were in hindsight! Hibbert might have played well but still shouldn?t be in the starting eleven when we have a full list to choose from. Why couldn't we have had Gravesen start and Neville at RB? Or even Jagielka at RB and Gravesen in Midfield and both Neville and Hibbert on the bench? If we'd have got well beaten today what would the answers to this post have been? Mmm... I wonder!

I wish ud get off the band wagon an off hibberts back and as said let the manager do the managing and you do the supporting. moyes knows what hes doing and hibbert has his usses. Yes he is no were near the best rb in the league but he can do a job and so is a good squad player to have when there are injuries, and Moyes knows hibbert is at his best against the better teams when it is backs to the wall as he doesnt have to think as much, it is when we are expected to play football against lesser sides hibberts weaknesses stand out when we have more of the ball, but it doesnt help when he seems to be struggling for form or confidence issues perhaps due to people getting on his back and epecially when he is expected to play one 2 ’s with Neville of all people. We got the point ,Hibbert played well, right decision. Dont question Moyes. You can say we got lucky but it is no coincidence we keep getting late goals, perfect ’tim ing’ U create ur own luck.

sorry missed your little comment after we got the result and you wer proved wrong but ur still having a go at the tactics. How can you expect us to play football against chelsea when they have spent more in 1 season than we have spent in over a decade and without our best player artata. ’I want to see a team that plays winning football’. is that not what we are getting weve just had about 5 wins on the trot. Your expectations are far too high, id luv to know how many sides have tried to out play chelsea at their ground and win. The answer is non since 2004! fair enough if we were at home but come on get a grip!

Sorry Ian I’m not sure whether you are responding to me or the writer of the original post! All i stated was that Jims post was written before the match and all the responses were after it! I can question the managers tactics if I want, I was just wondering why he went back to the lineup he did when we had other options! Any body with half a brain can see that Neville in Midfield and Hibbert at RB sucks ass! That is all, yes Hibbert might of had a good game but its few and far between these days! Good squad player yes, but top class premiership defender definently not! If we want to become a better side then people like Hibbert just do not belong in the first eleven!

I’m sure we would love to have a player like Hibbert with his tackling and Glen Johnson going forward but that player obviosly hasn’t been available as yet. Instead we have strenghend the squad and are 6 unbeaten since Cuntenburd robbed us.
Moyesy has done well in creating this squad and he is proving that he is learning how to play them so why not just get behind the team and ask for new blood come January?

The Last Episode of Steptoe can't come soon enough!
Why, oh, why, oh, why, oh, why, is he still getting a game for us?
Defence, midfield, wherever ? he shouldn't even be a ball boy.
If he was he'd spend all week talking about how good he was going to be at ball-boying this week, how sorry he was for the last time, and how much he loves the support he gets... all before doing his best to avoid the ball, and when it came his way giving it back to the opposition, shouting at other ball boys when they didn't manage to catch his wild balls, and getting suspended for kicking fuck out of the advert boards chasing balls that are long gone...
It's about time Moyes woke up to the last remaining thorn in our side. Pleeeeeaaase GET RID!

I, for one, think Hibbo had a wonderful game yesterday - fair play to him, and well done to the lads for sticking in there in a gritty performance, and what a goal from Cahill. Glad he?s in my fantasy football team!!

The back four and Tim Howard were superb yesterday.
Joey and Lescott have been solid for long enough but it was the fullbacks who impressed me. Both have been criticised for poor performances yet they shone out and helped earn us a point at one of the toughest away grounds in the league.
A great performance from the lads and a good decision from Moysey at half time to change it up. Pip looked like he was on for a sending off if he had of stayed on much longer.
