CL Qualification

Comments (1)

After reading the article on future CL qualification, ubder the headline of "moving further away," I was quite surprised. As in reality it turns out to have made it even easier, especially for English teams, to qualify.

As it stands only the top 2 qualify automatically so surely the top 3 being automatic qualifiers helps. As for the 4th place team, whilst yes they will play more qualifiers the introduction of more lesser teams will make this easier, especially as some of the more stronger teams (Auld Firm, and other top nations 3rd place teams ) will already have qualified ? so in reality more likely to play the likes of the Mentalists rather than your Villarreals.

When you also consider the gap between the usual top 4 and ourselves along with the clubs closing rapidly with foreign investment, by 2009 these places could be open for anyone. We showed it was possible in 2004 and that must set a precedent for future years ? just look at the power houses of English football in the 1980's...

A European league will come in the end; I for one say LET THEM GO. Let them go and try to make millions and totally fail. All the rest of us have to do is simply cancel Sky and Setanta and continue to watch and support our local teams. Once they have gone I wouldn?t let them back in once it all goes tits-up.
