Buckley can add value to our left side...

Comments (4)

Yesterday I watched the game between South Africa and the USA. Wasn't a pretty game of soccer, but a few players really stood out for me. Tim Howard had an excellent game and Steven Pienaar a very poor performance...then again, he always plays below par for SA.

... and an SA tour can do!

Buckley was again one of the players that really stood out for me, his passes and running off the ball is just a marvel to watch. Adu, the 18 year old striker looks like a real deal. He plays for Benfica and we could do with such young talent.

The 2010 host lost to the USA as expected, but it opened my eyes to something we South African Evertonians need! Bring the team down to South Africa in the next off season! Man U did last and they won the league that same season. Spurs did it a few months ago, and so does a lot of top team from Europe. We would love see our team here and pack one these stadia to capacity.

Do you know Eventon is far bigger that Spurs in South Africa, Spurs had full stadiums all the games they played in, imagine what games would look like if we played? Sundowns FC and Ajax Cape Town FC( Mc Carthy and Pienaar's former club) can be some stiff competition.

Edward, I know you are a Buckley fan but the fact of the matter is he isn’t good enough for Everton Football Club.

I watched alot of him at Dortmund and he was awful. In the past he had been quick. And when I say quick I mean lightning quick but his pace nowadays has diminished alot.

At 29 he’s getting on a bit and Moyes has already rejected him so there’s no chance of him joining us.

Pienaar is our left sided midfielder. He’s been quality there and hopefully we will sign him. For me a central midfielder is the main thing we need before a winger or a fullback.

Conner, you don’t know a good player when you see one. Before Dortmund, did you watch the guy in Germany? At Bochum, or Almiena B? That was the Buckley we all got used to. Players moral at Dortmund seem to go down once they encounter the heavy demands of the club! Do you know he was the top goal scorer before he joined Dortmund? He is, and let me repeat this, by far the best attacking midfielder South Africa ever had. Conner, your opion is good, but you dont have the eye for good quality player! Weren’t you one of those guys i my memory serves me correct who crucified Pienaar way before he even kicked a ball for us? Word wakker en ruik die koffie boet!!

Ricardo, If you actually go back to my past posts you will realize that I always wanted Pienaar in the starting line up and was arguing that he was a better player than Leon Osman which he is. So I think your memory is wrong and if you dont believe me go back and look at my posts.

I didn’t watch Buckley at Bochum or Almiena B but as I said I seen him at Dortmund and I also seen him in our Pre-season friendly last season. He showed some decent touches but didn’t in my opinion show anything special for me to recognize him as a good player. And I’m not the only one who didn’t rate him. Why didn’t Moyes go for him? If he was as good as you say he is then he would have demanded a permanent move but the fact of the matter is he didn’t and Moyes let him go. Pienaar who I also watched at Dortmund, Ajax and on the international level has always impressed me more and from what I have seen at Everton and in the past at Ajax he is a quality player whereas Buckley in my opinion isn’t.

I dont have an eye for a quality player? I know when I see a quality player. The likes of Manuel Fernandes, Abdou Diaby and Steven Appiah are all players I would like to see at Everton before Delron Buckley.

My bad if i got it all wrong, but you just seem anti-Buckley! I would also love to see top quality players at the club, but i know were cash strapped and have to with a low budget. My point is the following, nothing stops us from getting good players on loan deals, like they did in Pienaar case. If the players are not up to par with Premiership standards, get rid of them. That is what top club do, if the player works out to be a good deal, the club benifits! Let start buying cheap quality "no big name" players and start winning game. Look at what Man U and Arsenal is doing, 70% of the players where never even heard of before they sign for them! And there Liverpool of cause.
