More like it...

The article in the Echo and accompanying artists impression is certainly more like what I would expect in a stadium for a club of our stature & history.

I obviously haven't an idea of the logistics or viability of this but this is what we & the club deserve. Kenwright / Wyness take off the blinkers.

The image is the one produced for the Bestway/Loop site some weeks ago. The story says NWDA are going to study the financial impact of Everton leaving Liverpool. There is no new alternative being proposed. There is no new source of funding for a site inside Liverpool being announced.

With the design difference between the first and second Kirkby artist impressions I think we have to be very careful in believing this design is what the Scotland Road site would look like in eventuality - and as Michael says no new source of funding for a Liverpool site has been announced, merely ’another’ feasibility study.

I think the most important aspect of the article is the response from the EFC spokesman who talks about 'continuing negotiations with Knowsley and Tesco' and 'the possibility of relocating to KIrkby'.

Possibilty? - Do I detect a change in the language from EFC from it's, so far, derision of other options to Kirkby?

If you take a little drive around the Kings Dock site you can see what they have built instead of what would have been our new ground. It looks amazing to be fair. Its no GP and its nowhere near big enough but It saddens me to see these new images, especially when you can see what we could have had. GRRRRRRRR

I might be wrong here but wasn?t the loop site dismissed by the RS has ?to small for a stadium? I hate the thought of relocating to Kirkby but come on lads there is no feasible alternative to GP, if there was we would have binned Kirkby in the vote. Unless someone comes up with a feasible alternative I think I am wasting my time reading these repetitive posts, so much old ground it is becoming a turn off. Artist impression, that is all it is an artist impression, no design involved, no Planning input, these thinks change through the planning process. I have never seen so much fuss made by an artists impression, have a look at the original Wembley impression it is nothing like the finished article.

Have you actually read the crap that comes out of Bradley?s mouth?

"The bridegroom and all his family are waiting for the bride ? and the bride is Everton."

Er, just where was this slimey courting when we were in early discussions with Tesco / Knowlsey? Too bloody late mate, maybe you should have thought about that before another council came up with a proper proposal, and you got into bed with our rivals to ensure their new stadium plans were sorted before bothering to be interested with Everton.
Like Kirby or not, we are well shot of Liverpool Council if their style

We are moving to Kirkby regardless.

Bob Carlton ,I also picked up on the comment from EFC. Are we clutching at straws ? Possibly but I hope and pray something good comes out of it.

We?re only moving to Kirkby whilst Wyness is CEO.

LET?S GET THIS MAN OUT OF OUR CLUB!

This is the ONLY way we?ll stop the move to Kirkby. Forget about half arsed protests on Goodison Road after a game, we need to voice our concerns during a game!!!

Some blues will say they won?t care about all this political bollocks and just want to concentrate on this season and each game, but that?s short sighted in my opinion. You can ignore the move to a poor ground in a poor location now, and you can ignore it next season and maybe even the season after, but after that...it?ll be too late!

Now?s the time to act. I?m not saying we start booing at Goodison, far from it, I can?t stand booing before, during or after. Cheer the team on, but the anti Kirkby chants need to start NOW! Then the board will know the fans true response to the whole debacle.

I?m sorry but the artists impressions do nothing for me...the hotel (or whatever it is) totally dominates the stadium making it look like an add-on. Just because its a bit curvy and has been given a shiny blue coating doesn?t make it work architecturally for me.

If a hotel is being incorporated in the design, is it not likely the build costs would be shared with a hotel chain? Seems a lot better than joining forces with a boring supermarket chain.

Mick Simons,
I stand to be corrected, but I haven’t seen anything where the loop was dismissed. I think Everton Park was due to the topography, but can’t recall. I believe Trevor Skempton the consultant city architect to the Grosvenor project was the fella who first flagged this up at the beginning of this year. LFC were already well on their way to Stanley park. Regardless of this possibility, HOK will have done a far more detailed and authoritive assessment given their experience, and they say it’s a goer.. If the South side of the cutting is covered alone the space is real terms almost unlimited, as far as our needs are concerned, most properties on and off Juvenal street are already condemned, if they’re not demolished already. This is a big expanse in a prime location.

Just like the Kirkby impressions the mock up means nothing. I’m sure it has many artistic tricks that you can spot in the Ricoh mock ups compared to the finnished product.
I mean, that hotel is 33(!) floors high!
Take say 15 minimum off that and take off half the vertical lines that go round the stadium and you may have a better idea.
They’re profesional architects and it is a considered choice to draw a patchy shape like that because it doesn’t give anything specific to think what the stadium would look like yet allows us to dream.... sneaky!

Nick, whats the problem with a 33 floor hotel? There are several new high towers already up in Liverpool and more taller ones planned, this is hardly inconceiveable. I agree these are only initial pics, but please compare HOK’s and Barr’s portfolio’s..... there is no comparison in the quality or quantity of their work, neither functionally nor Aesthetically.

Please think about the loop, its a waste of time and cant work under a strict budget!! You have 50% locked with road and tunnel so you would have to build over and construct bridges and this costs millions extra against a green field site. Please wake up and smell the coffee, Loop site is too small, no commercial sponsor can make revenue out of the site. Having just a hotel does not warrent sufficent income to suit a major build. If any counter plan is to be excepted then they must have a big commercial backer similar to Tesco who will advance/sponsor whatever you want to call it, any other option is doomed to fail. Why would EFC settle for another site that cost tens of miilions more when we are skint basic market forces. Before you mention Bestway they only want us to use the site for own profit and utilise a useless site. WALTON PARK !!!!! Thats why Yes votes like myself are fed up with the No because all plan B?s are rubbish if we had a real option then we would listen and stop ranting. Stop wasting time and get a like for like deal otherwise it will never be done WE HAVE NO MONEY

The loop site isn?t big enough.
Everton are after a site that they can expand later. The loop may hold 55,000 (which I am not convinced about) but Kirkby will be 55,000 now with ability to expand later.
Bob Carlton
18   Posted 22/11/2007 at 14:31:11

So now KW wants the ability to expand to 75,000. Where oh where does his pulling of figures from thin air end. I want all EFC personnel to be ambitious, but this is ridiculous.

A spokesman for Knowsley Council said as far as the authority was concerned the Kirkby stadium would have between 50,000 and 55,000 seats and no more (Liverpool Echo today).

Therefore, if we accept KWs requirements then KIrkby doesn’t fit the bill.
But, of course, tomorrow the capacity requirement will probobly have changed.

Alan Williams.

Who says you can’t get a corporate sponsor for the loop.HOK say it will fit a 55 - 60,000 seater stadium no problem, but I guess you know better. You say you will listen if there is a real option, how will you know if an option is real if you don’t listen. So far the Bestway option has been quashed by the club. In order to produce a proper proposal they need certain information of the board, if the board aren’t forthcoming with that information then there can be no real alternatives. So all you fed up yes voters (not the yes voters who are prepared to debate things in a sensible manner) ought to be asking the club to allow the alternatives to be laid on the table just in case there is something worth listening to.
